In the movie, it was a mystery that didn't need an answer (everyone believed what they wanted). But then the mediocre authors of shitty comics, books, etc. decided that it was necessary to reveal this secret and give readers the “canonical” version. Previously it was Palpatine's teacher, now it's Palpatine himself - what the hell, this is just stupid and ruins the atmosphere!

@@IshtarNike It has NOTHING to do with what you think. Immaculate conception means that Mary was born without the taint of original sin. Jesus has a Father. Anakin didn't. One could argue that in the Star Wars universe, there is no "God" as we know Him, and therefore, the Catholic dogma of original sin doesn't exist there. Immaculate conception wouldn't exist.

You've seen episode 6 so this is no spoiler for those who have: Anakin IS the chosen one. He did bring balance by what he did at the end of Episode 6: Return of the Jedi. If the Emperor had any other Sith servant than Darth Vader (or even if he was just alone), there is no way Luke would have been able to get through to him and encourage Anakin to do what he did. There would be no hope for the galaxy. So it Vader was a blessing in disguise.

Remember that it wasn't Luke who ultimately killed the emperor in ROTJ. He was getting his ass electocuted. It was Anakin who finally destroyed the Sith. So the prophecy was true, from a certain point of view.

Almost immediately after the release of this movie Darth Maul became a fan favorite among some hard-core Star Wars fans. Why? who knows maybe it was the horns, face coloring, or his presence as a bad ass in Star Wars Lore. If you're interested there is also a fan made short film called "Darth Maul Apprentice" it's not cannon to the Star Wars universe and does not have any spoilers. For a fan film it was very well made with the choreography and costumes.

The really sad thing about Jake Lloyd is that a lot of adults joined in on the bullying in one way or another. He wasn't a great child actor, but he was cast and he did his best. It's a shame people decided to bully him for it. I think the only silver lining is that social media wasn't a thing really when it came out of he'd have been bullied even more!

Recently it's come out Jake's mum did a big interview and thankfully she said she shielded him from all the online shit so he was none the wiser, he copped a bit at school here and there, but no more than any other kid being bullied in school (still not great) albeit for different reasons. Legit bipolar is what sent him into a spiral. Hopefully he can make a Star Wars Celebration event 1 day and get the recognition that Hayden is now receiving. Poor bloke. Jabba is more like a local warlord. The Hutts are considered to be more like gangsters and king pins by the civilised people of the Republic interior, but they're so powerful in the outer rim that as you can see in the film they're basically legitimate rulers. At least that's how I understand it from the films and games I've seen.

Hi. About your question of Anakin being the chosen one and the prediction of him bringing balance to the force - George Lucas said in an interview that yes he does bring balance to the force by killing the emperor in Return of the Jedi and then dying, so the sith are gone. Although some fans have interpreted balance as something else I won’t say due to spoilers. But I go with what the creator says.

Most people go with what makes sense, instead. There were thousands of Jedi and one or two Sith at the end of the High Republic. There were a few Jedi, exactly two in the original movies, and two Sith during the reign of the Sith Empire. Balance.

@@happyslapsgiving5421 according to current canon this is the wrong interpretation - I won’t quote it here because I don’t want to spoil the opera scene for her. But if you google “Did Darth P (you know who) create A” you will get the explanation in the first link. In this case balance does not mean an equal literal 50/50, rather it means no more Sith (aka evil or darkness) and a return to the light. Like I said, I’ll go with the creator of the movies on this one.

What i like about your reactions is you pay attention to the shows and are pretty good with names actually (I'm on season 4 of GoT with my aunt and she still doesn't get even basic names right lol). Maybe I'm a bit too much of a nerd, but it always bugs me when people take 10 episodes to learn the basic names (Game of thrones for example). Its harder to do in this film btw because they don't actually use certain people's names as much as they do in TV shows like house of the dragon.

yeah people act like Padme is robbing the cradle but she's only like 5 years older than Anakin - this gap gets less pronounced when they're older

When I first saw this episode, I knew Qui Gon would die because somehow Obi Wan had to move up to train Anakin himself.

Thanks for entering the Star Wars universe. Just to let you know, this film will be re-released in theaters for the May 4th weekend (Star Wars Day) in celebration of its 25th anniversary. God, I feel old. I remember seeing this on opening day. Me and my buddy stood in line for 6 hours, took some chocolate mushrooms when they let us in the complex and it started working just as the movie began. What a ride that was!!! lol

You’ll find out later about C-3PO knowing if Darth Vader built him. Just know R2D2 is the only being/ droid that knows the entire story of what happened by episode 6.

Someone above said you’re overthinking it about “who is his father.” Anakin has no father. Shmi, his mother said it as well as she understood it. The Midichlorians “made” him & it is always suggested that they were manipulated by the master of Shiv Palpatine-the Emperor as you know him-Darth Plegius the Wise. The Ancient Sith were masters of using the Force to “create” changes in life & life forms. Darth Plegius knew a lot of the ancient powers of the Force. He was attempting to influence the prophecy of the Chosen One. So as his mother said Anakin like many Chosen Ones, he has no physical father. It is pretty much established that Qui Gon Jinn, who was more spiritual than even Yoda & closer to the Jedi ideal than anyone on the Council, the best of the best, if he could have trained Anakin everything probably would have been different. In the other Star Wars media, series & such we learn that Qui Gon Jinn refused a seat on the Council, went his own way often, following his feelings & direct connection to the Will of the Force. Obi Wan only learned that later in life. Yoda too. Can’t say how. Spoilers if you ever watch the Clone Wars series which you should & Rebels. So much more is explored & told. & later ( & I’m an old head, saw the original in the movies when I was a kid ) like better. & by the way, the pod race & Anakin in the ship later…in the other media we learn Anakin was the best ship pilot of all time.

"Why did they zoom in on him like that?" just what for the reveal. The Jedi are trained at a younger age than Anikan was, that's why they said he was too old. Between Episodes 2 and 3, there's a lot of stuff that happens that changes everybody.

The only hint I notised on the fact they changed the queen was that Knightley are very stiff in her acting and has the "wrong" voice while Portman is more softspoken

You're almost certainly right about the patois. Jar jar is played by a black dude called Ahmed Best. The character is CGI but Best was onset in a Jar Jar suit to act in real time with the other actors. It's not a coincidence that they found a black dude to play the bumbling side kick with a thick accent and broken patois sounding English. Lucas is a nice guy, but he's kinda old and he's got some big blind spots.

Maybe Lucas chose Ahmed Best for this role because he has good physicality and could perform the voice that Lucas wanted. His being black was probably irrelevant. Not everything has to be racist, you know. 🙄

You can usually tell who is Natalie based on realistic logic. If she's in public in a dangerous place dressed up as the queen then its Kiera Knightly (escaping Naboo, returning to negotiate with the Gungans). She usually doesn't have many lines in these scenes. If she's in a safe place like Coruscant with lots of dialogue or at the end dressed up as the Queen its Natalie because there's no need for her to hide there anyway.

As I understand it the emperors master, Darth Plagus, was obsessed with creating life and finding the key to everlasting life. He used the force and sith alchemy to impregnate Shmi Skywalker, and she gave a virgin birth to an experimental force baby. Palpatine realized how close Plagus was to solving it, then killed him in his sleep so he stayed the most powerful being in the galaxy
