There were novels, follow-ups back in the day about Han&Leia having kids and Luke teaching them, and trying to create a new Republic, but when Disney bought SW they were like "nah we'll do our own thing". So if you want to watch the Disney ones (they're not very good) just remember that they weren't created by George Lucas.

Star Wars is the epic story of a little robot named R2-D2 who helps bring an end to the evil empire.

You're missing the part about how both Luke and Leia have always felt a deep connection since they met. So when Obi-Wan told Luke that they were twins, and later Luke told Leia they were siblings, since they're both Force sensitive and they both know the Force is a thing that exists, both simply reacted by basically saying, "Oh, of course. That explains why we've always felt this deep bond that we ultimately realized wasn't romantic." I mean, Luke was able to reach out to Leia at the end of the previous movie and make her come back for him as he was hanging with one hand missing from the bottom of the Cloud City, so Leia's already been shown to be in tune with the Force.

To me the story ends with episode 6 rotj. The sequel trilogy movies (episodes 7 - 9) are a nonsensical cash grab.

Don't watch disney's sequels! They completely destroy the previous movies and the entire star wars universe. Furthermore they weren't created by the original creator - Lucas, who doesn't even likes them, and sometimes I feel that their only goal was to destroys the heros we get to know in the first 6 movies, so they are fanfiction at best.

There are no more movies. You’ve completed the Star Wars saga. That’s it. No more.

The scene when Vader was standing alone when Luke said that his father is truly dead is in my opinion the most impactflu and underrestimated scene in the movie. You can really see and feel how deeply Vader was hurt by this. This is the crucial scene that make Vader turn on the Emperor later because deep in his heart he wants his son to love him as a father and not the robotic monster he became.

The funeral pyre hits differently after the prequels. The knowledge that at one time his death would have meant the mourning of so many, but now only one person in the galaxy would even bother to give him a funeral.

I loved her reaction when Leia said I know. It's fun to watch non-Americans react to American classics regardless of genre. They always bring a unique perspective to them.

All the times I've seen these movies, I've never put together "Obi-Wan taught you well" with "I have the high ground."

I've been watching these films since I was a child. Every time I watch this one, I come to realize how much Luke truly did save Anakin. Luke felt the good in him, good in him that Obi-Wan, a Jedi Master, didn't even feel. Padme knew he was still a good man, even after all the horrible things he did. Luke did something different than anyone else. Luke didn't turn his back on him when he kept choosing the Dark Side and continuously asking his father to "come with him." In his dying breaths, Luke was calling to his father for help, making Anakin remember why he joined the Dark Side in the first place. The literal proof of his and Padme's love for each other was dying in front of him calling for him, and that alone revived Anakin. Making Anakin remember what the most important thing to him was, love, and that's not only just worth fighting for, but it's worth dying for.
