    I was hoping that mud creature would be R2's pet for the rest of the episodes but since they seemed to split up i guess that's not whats gonna happen

    The Ritty You should see the episode "A Race to the Finish" it even uses the name "Boonta Speeder Race" in the episode.

    There have been several articles on starwars.com that said they took various aspects from droids while making the prequels I:E Jango name dropping Bogden and such. which is more respect to the Expanded universe then the Disney flops have ever paid. (aside from naming their Darth Vader equivalent after a bumbling space pirate)
