Volume 1 could easily take place inbetween Episode 2 and the 3D series while Volume 2 occurs after Ahsoka leaves. While Anakin and Obi-Wans snow adventure doesn't line-up anymore, I like to believe those events still happened albiet at a slightly different point in the timeline. This WAS canonical Lucas-approved Clone Wars, moreso than anything from the EU. Grievous being injured in this cartoon is why he was coughing and always running away in Episode 3. This is how Palpatine was kidnapped from Coruscant. Then Disney decided to remove it from canon along with the other much less important Clone Wars tie-ins in one of a long string of dumb moves that added nothing to the universe but a potential future chance to cash in.

Honestly one of my favorite moments in Star Wars in general. The Force isn't just some powerful magic, it's something that exists in everything. The Nelvaanians' cave paintings show us that the Force has influenced them enough that some of them likely had a vision of Anakin's fall, and they misconstrued it into the legend of the _Holt Kazed._ We really need more of that in Star Wars media. Not Force-using species or individuals, but the Force influencing civilisations in the form of religious or spiritual beliefs.

There are two Force abilities that are similar; one more obscure, and I don't know how much it is in line with Lucas' canon, but Quinlan Vos hat telemetry. He could touch inanimate objects and through the Force know what happened to and around the object. So there can be might be a connection between the Force and inanimate objects. The other one is well established: Jedi can move objects through telekinesis. So why would Mace not be able, with enough training and knowledge, to manipulate and maybe even electrons to use something similar to telekinesis on a micro level?

On the other hand, it feels a bit hypocritical to give Disney so much shit for "breaking the lore" when Legends had a lot of similar bullshit. Case in point, Mace Ratatouille-ing a Vulture Droid.

The jedi rescue mission really threw me, 'cause as a kid who only ever saw volume 1, I assumed all those jedi died. Then Fordo's coming in with the calvary and I feel like I'm 10 years old again

The thing is that the story would be very much incomplete if we'd have only gotten Clone Wars Prequels. Nothing on the start of the war, Anakin's past, his relationships with people such as Qui-Gon and Padme, etc. The Clone Wars wouldn't work without the solid story foundation of Episodes 1 and 2.

The trials aren't a back to back test. They take place periodically over all the years of a padawans teaching. As years go by training and doing missions you'll eventually meet the criteria and finish all the trials. I love this because it's a test over a long period of time testing oneself and I think it's one of the few things the modern Jedi still have right

I still think 2008 TCW is the better series by a fairly wide margin - More compelling characters, more interesting story arcs, a bigger impact on the franchise as a whole. Really, the only metric where 2003 CW might have the edge is action, and even then, not by that much - but this series will still always hold a place in my heart. Besides, it's unfair to really compare it to a series 33 times longer than it (Fun fact: TCW has a total runtime of _66_ hours and 30 minutes, if my math is right).

the nifty thing about the whole chase through Coruscant and the staff-wielding droids... why they seem so inept at a few points yet are able to duel the jedi on pretty much even footing? Programming, each droid is loaded with all kinds of combat routines, moves and tactics... But clearly they dont actually have one for how to stop a jedi from simply leaping over them to get away... they're programmed to Fight a jedi that engages them, so indirect methods like that or when they use the trains are very effective. Likewise when Shakti starts wielding one of their staves? Clearly someone dropped the ball and didnt actually program those droids properly for how to fight a jedi that is NOT wielding a lightsaber. They can still manage to some extent of course but their performance drops noticeably compared to while she was fighting them with her saber. This is a neat touch I think cause less well directed stories like this would just have her start beating them with her saber for no real reason... not like droids get tired or the like. Or they would make it explicit and obvious that "oh, yeah so the droids arent as good at fighting non-jedi weapons" just to make sure the viewer picks up on that. But nah, here it's There, yet we're left to figure out these little details and nods on our own. It's what takes these animation shorts up a level.

That subtle vision in the cave made my 16 year old self in 2005 go crazy seeing Darth Vader, & I really liked that Anakin's scream after destroying the power crystal was similar to the ones he made as he was being put into the suit after Mustafar. Grievous was a monster & Fordo will forever be the most badass ARC Trooper ever!!
