Still he has a code of honor albeit a vague one. One of his better moments is making clear to Plo Koon and Ahsoka that he was a neutral party and not involved and then again when he says Boba should tell them what they want to know and not only was it the honorable thing to do but what his father would've done and he says it with complete sincerity.

This is also such a Sith thing to do. In one of the comics, Palpatine is amused, surprised and proud at Vader for doing stuff the Sith way and going behind Palpatine's back in order to stab him and keep the empire. Betraying is the Sith way, according to Palpatine himself.

He also likes a person who lies to him. In Rebels, when he finds out that Ezra has been lying to him about his name being Lando, he said "You lied to me? I knew there was a reason I liked you." Or something along those lines.

Let's take a moment to recognize the fact that this man: -Fought both Anakin and Ahsoka in face-to-face combat via electrostaff -Befriended many Jedi, including Obi-Wan, Anakin, Ahsoka, Plo Koon, several younglings, and Ezra -Was made an enemy of Dooku (held hostage), Grievous (Dooku's orders, was also insulted by Hondo), Maul and Savage (denied alliance), essentially the whole Empire (ally of Phoenix Squadron) -Witnessed the creation of a lightsaber, being the only non-force-sensitive person to see the process -Literally stole a coaxium shipment from the First Order, destroying a Star Destroyer and mining hub in the process, all within 5 minutes.. like it was nothing And yet.. "Hondo Ohnaka survives every time."

@@HasufelyArod What Mojebi said, essentially. As to *why* Hindo considers credits useless... Well, credits are basically a "faith" currency system. They're financially backed by the faction that issues them. In war time, credits are the safest to transport and the easiest to procure. Once the war is over, the credits are cashed in for a different kind of currency, usually the newly-issued official currency of the victor. See the problem? If you take the currency of a warring faction as payment, and that faction ends up losing, then you can kiss that money goodbye. Those credits are worthless.

I like how Hondo even as a pirate still has reverence for a lightsaber construction where he knows anyone outside a Jedi or sith order will never see it in their lifetime

Fun fact: Hondo drugged everyone in the bar to ensure he’d capture them.

Headcanon until proven otherwise: At some point after, if not during, the original trilogy, Luke runs into Hondo while looking for Jedi relics, like "the sacred texts," and the two get into some misadventures. Hondo finds out he's Anakin's son and Obi-Wan's last student, and tells him stories of the Clone Wars. It's also how Luke learns about Ashoka and Ezra, possibly joining on the hunt for Ezra and Thrawn...

39:56 - There are many good emotional moments in the series, but Hondo talking about how "there is nothing he would not do" for Ezra somehow hits me differently. He's still as crazy and selfish as ever, but he actually cares for Ezra so much that he goes to help him. He probably does not even do it for Ezra. Rather, he does it because Ezra finally getting what he wants (saving Lothal) is what Hondo wants. So he is still being selfish, because Ezra being finally happy and safe makes Hondo happy.

I went from hating Hondo to absolutely loving him! He’s such a hilariously good character 😂

I think Hondo likes Obi-Wan so much because every time they talk Obi-Wan sits/stands patiently and let’s him talk. He doesn’t interrupt, he doesn’t really talk down to him, he speaks to him like a normal person and Hondo likes that.

“As my mother always said: Son, if one hostage is good, then two is better and three? Well that’s just good business” How have I not heard this quote before? 😂

The thing I liked the best about Hondo is that he’s at least somewhat honorable, considering he convinced boba to tell plo koon where the hostages are located. Something a Jedi couldn’t do

Hondo: They are too powerful, even for you? Also Hondo: Look them them. How powerful can they be? They are running away from Kenobi! He's just the best.

I feel that, some people might have expected Hondo to be an annoying side character, but he ended up being really likeable.

I thought he was a gonna be a one-off Villain Of The Week but he legitimately swindled his way into becoming one of my favorite characters on the show to the point where even when he's doing villainous things I can't really hate him, because you can kinda see it's just business and not personal. His line to Grievous sums it up: "Insolence? We are pirates! We don't even know what that word means!" Then of course when some of his men betray him to work for Maul: "My own men betraying me?!? Scoundrels! Mutineers! I'm so proud!"

@@billyjames9109 Yes but Cad Bane was a character, but Hondo felt like an actual real person. He started it off as neutral, grew sympathy to the jedi, and eventually helped them out in the end. He as a progression, development. Cad Bane is dope as f*ck, but he is just Cad Bane. He gets a little development in the Naboo Plot arc, but then reverts back to normal lmao

I like how Hondo is actually shocked how Maul and Savage killed one of the Jedi's being this is probably the first he ever heard of one dying in combat in terms of pure skill or strength being Jedi's are worth over a thousand battle droids then started worrying about Kenobi because if he dies, then all is lost. So he tried to salvage the most amount of power is left on an ambush.

Is nobody going to talk about the fact that Hondo fought Anakin Skywalker, the literal CHOSEN ONE with an electrostaff, and not only managed to hold his own but have Skywalker on the ropes a couple of times.
