Really astounding, I always found sad that Lucas didn't keep the saga going, after ROTJ, except for two (failed ) animated series and a pair of tv movies with the Ewoks. To Pass the witness to a big anime studio would've been a good way to keep alive the story, also without necessity of maintain the same characters, at maximum some cameos in some episodes, and don't forget how Lucas was strongly influenced by japanese movies, pratically would've been, as said in a trailer of ROTJ, "The circle has closed"! (Surely better than Disney !) P.s. the heavy starfighters after 03.00 are very good, I've always liked the idea of a "space zerstorer" capable to put down capital ships!

My generation actually did have this. It was called Star Blazers, or Battleship Yamato in its original Japanese name. Season 1 came out in 1974, before Star Wars.

Brings me back to my childhood, some of the illustrations are totally legit while some seems more 90's but for those that are spot on it gives me Macross vibes especially from the illustrations they used for their model kits in the early 90's, fun times those were even if today it is more convenient yet those days felt more real and human than today's world, those were warm and fuzzy days even if you were limited in some things like travelling and communicating, a lot of things needed more effort and for things that were out of your control you just went with the flow and fiddled with what was in front of you, things reachable.

I totally understand where those feelings are coming from trust me. As a former artists (sketch, b/w, caligraphy) i cant spend 8-10 hours on something anymore, gave me arthritis and tendanitis, and ive worked manual labor for the past 15 years, i just do it. But i will say, i am not one to want to profit off of this. All of this is just me fucking around and just putting down whatever comes to mind. im not opposed to it, but i just wouldnt feeli right making money of something relativley easy, however i do pay for the use of midjourney so. it its what it is. @Tom Stamford no super program, so secrets. Midjourney on discord. I pay 30 a month and am allotted hours of time to spend in it. Just think about what you want, type it out, make changes as you go. I've had prompts that are one sentence but a paragraph long if you know what I mean. Appreciate you n cheers to you. Good hunting!

The AI's layout of the images are great for posters, promo art, and novel covers. The death star, ships, and guns, do not work well. Some of the character portraits were really good. The only thing bad about the Leia holding the pistol was the fingers, and the gun itself needed a little work. This AI can really work for game masters, and authors for concept art to tell real artists what the author has in mind.

It's not hand-drawn. The AI literally samples millions of existing artwork that was created by actual people (this database sampling was apparently done by a company in Germany), mixes it up, and spits out an amalgamation of "new" generated art. There's actually a class action lawsuit filed in Germany by many artists against the company that created this sampled dataset for breach of copyright and stolen artwork. You'll notice that the AI has trouble generating realistic human hands, so you end up with more than five fingers and odd angles and such.

You think humans just started with nothing and then instantly create a van Gogh and whatever? Humans are MASTERS of copy/paste an learning from it, even from other, non humans and things.

It in general isn't very trained on space art yet. People are easier, since millions of peopel want billions of portraits and alike, while only very few people want a spaceship and if they often enough are fine with very different art styled and ven something like a toy rocket, what doesn't help the AI much to learn. If you train it wrong, it can even hurt the learning process.

Interesting mix. A lot of the characters look anime-style, but a good number still look Westernized for 80's anime. The ships, though, mostly don't look anime-ish. Some do have a style that reminiscent of, say, Appleseeds or some other cyberpunk anime, but mot of them look like the kind of style spaceships you'd see on a cover of Analog or other 70's/80's Western sci-fi novels.

It's going to be an incredible tool. There's a huge barrier of entry into animation/movies. Even comic books are insanely time consuming. People are worried about artists, but it will actually ALLOW people to be artists. There's people with amazing stories to tell, but no money, time and connections to tell them. But soon everyone will be able to have an equivalent of an entire animation studio in theur disposal and that's amazing.

There's an Anime short that was done some time back before Disney got their oily hands on the franchise, and it looked awesome because, first it was the Empire's perspective through at least 5 pilots, and Second it indeed looked as if it was either an 80s or 90s Anime.

See this is where I think AI can be used as a catalyst for new forms of writing and creativity. I look at this and I see Star Wars but I see almost the steam punk version of Star Wars that a writer could expand upon. Giving us something a little bit more forward leaning versus always reverting back to nostalgia.

What prompt did you use

I always thought that it was one of the biggest mistake in movie hisotry that there is no star wars anime in the style of akira or cowboy bebop. It feels like it was made for that.

Really fantastical designs, and honestly it makes me wish a whole Star Wars manga existed with a few half dozen new characters peppered in! I always loved Tenchi Muyo, because they clearly took Star Wars influences into the design elements later in the series.

Two of the movies were lol

An actual Anime-style OVA version of Star Wars would have in addition to Rogue Squadron an all-female Roguette Squadron that Princess Leia would be part of. There would also be a fan service shower scene of Roguette Squadron getting ready to fly like the one in Gunbuster (Top o Nerae!) Leia's X-wing likely makes the save of Luke that the Millennium Falcon did in Star Wars. If the Falcon at all has a role in the final space battle, then Darth Vader regains control of his TIE fighter and comes after Luke and Leia after the Death Star blows up and Han comes to make the save.

Nice, music is a blast

1:28- Anime Leia has a pistol gripped in both her hands but one of her hands is coming out of her stomach, because that arm that should have that hand attached to it isn't anywhere near the weapon. They seem to struggle with hands quite a bit. 1:39 Holy giant Vader Batman! 3:17 that ship is shooting pool noodles instead of lasers. 3:53-Hahahahaha! 3:57 Who let Dark Helmet on the set again? 4:49 WTF happened to Chewie? That shit is gonna give me nightmares. 5:12 Ok is Vader a giant or is Lilliput now Star Wars canon? 5:37 Han dude, you gotta get that thumb looked at I think it's infected or something. Probably space herpes again. Also, so is Chewie's cousin a Care Bear?

I'm Japanese and grew up watching 80's anime in real time, but the designs look more like 90's anime or American comics than 80's anime. There were manga artists such as Buichi Terasawa and Katsuhiro Otomo who were influenced by American comics and Mobius, but they were very few. At that time, designers such as Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, Tomonori kogawa, and Shingo Araki, who created the style of TV animation, and their students were in their heyday, and the design of this video gives a completely different impression.

One or two of them do have a sort of Mikamoto Macross vibe going, but most look like cover art for 80s and 90s sci fi paperbacks.

I was enjoying the art, silently commenting on the coolness factor of each one as it popped up (honestly they were all cool) while simultaneously listening to the music and reliving the Falcon's escape from Bespin at the end of Empire. How detailed were you going with the prompts for these?
