Watch the scenes in ROTJ where they're being briefed on the second Death Star. It cuts to her face several times, and in one of the cuts, she looks like she's so full of dope that Harrison could have stomped on her foot and she wouldn't have felt it.@@evilsWa

I remember hearing that George Lucas had said " If I had the time and a sledgehammer, I would track down every single copy of the Star Wars Holiday Special and smash it." Personally, I bet he found it embarrassing.

that would be so hacky. You obviously dont know harrison ford very well. He doesnt want to be known as just Han Solo. Hes done much more than that. In some ways he regrets his role as han solo but obviously acknowledges its why he rose to fame. So he would never do anything like that and I think no self respecting actor would. He is Harrison Ford first, not Han Solo.

If you've never seen the Holiday Special, let me put it like this, as someone who watched the complete thing: the Holiday Special really is as bad as everyone says. But it wasn't really "so-bad-it's-good," as much as it was the kind of movie that makes your brain feel like it's melting. (It's like the recent version of Cats; everything is uncanny or borderline nonsensical, and if you watch it, you'll feel like your sanity is fading away.) If you're sordidly curious about this movie, trust me when I say that you're missing nothing. You don't need to look this up. Unless you want to see the animated portion, which is comically bad, but has the first appearance of Boba Fett.

Thankfully, I was only three when it aired, and if my parents watched it, they've purged it from their memories. The Rifftrax version is (kind of) watchable, though you can tell they're all enduring psychological pain. Poor Kevin Murphy (aka Tom Servo from MST3K) sounds like he's going into a complete meltdown about two minutes in.

Carrie Fisher wasn't lying when she said she didn't remember it, because she was so totally burnt out on Coke during the filming of it..

Of course not. The Special Editions were his decision, made carefully and tweaked to perfection every couple years. Jar Jar is a comedic character, but he fits, and all the other characters are appropriately annoyed by him. (As we are) The Holiday Special is the most random mind-melting thing ever conceived. And Lucas needed it to exist to help fund ESB

@@sidnew2739 First of all, there is no need to be rude. And second of all, yes that is literally the mindset behind them. The Special Editions were released in 1997, to give the films an updated feel. Then we got the 2004 DVD releases, updating the outdated effects of 1997 (ie Jabba) and also fixed a lot of continuity between the OT and PT. The 2011 blu ray release was a mix of the two, ironing out any remaining kinks and giving the colors a new look. In each release, Lucas made new changes to more closely match what he wanted for the films. Lots of careful choices were made. For instance, the Ewoks blink now. Lucas had been trying to be able to get that look right for years. In fact, the versions of the films now are NOT the Special Editions. At the end of the day, I can't imagine why someone would think Lucas was embarrassed about the SE because if anything he's embarrassed by the pre-SE Star Wars movies. (Although I'd actually say the only movie he's actually embarrassed about would be episode 4) He's gotten them closer and closer to what he wanted for years and years. It would be incredibly strange if he were embarrassed about them

When it first aired I had to go to bed mid way through. It was never rerun. Years later I saw a VHS tape of it at a convention and bought it. I watched it once and put it in the closet afterwards. It hasn’t left the closet since. If I tell people this I expect their answers to be “Don’t let it out of the closet! For the love of humanity!”

Great I can attribute the shit happening in todays society to you opening that tape

I watched it, in 1978. I was 9 years old. My older brother had the idea, on the cassette recorder, with mic’ our family had to record the audio,…so, after, audio of Wookies for several minutes. Eventually, I found in a comic book shop, around 2001, they had bootleg vhs tapes, for $1 of “the special”. I paid, I watched, -the audio came back to my mind. I drank whiskey watching, and that made the experience much better. I watched it with a good friend, a SW fan, who had not seen it. We drank several beers, and laughed. Before quality copy on KZread, I loaned my bootleg vhs, to a family at my church. They were doing a marathon of the films. I told them “This is not all very good. Yet, if you are a true fan, you need to experience it once.” After, one of the family asked if they could have the viewing erased from their minds. No!

The creepiest part of the special to me is how they gave Chewbacca's wife and kid wookies more human like wookie faces. I cant look at them, gives me the willies 😂

I think the holiday special was better than all that disney has produced.

Chris Stuckmann literally said that if the Star Wars holiday special was mentioned to Harrison Ford, then he’d probably snap and kill you and wouldn’t you know it, he went for Conan O’Brien! Obviously it was just a goof, but it was a big intense reaction as was predicted!

I used to think Harrison Ford was a bit of a grumpy, unfriendly guy, but the more of his interviews I've seen, the more I appreciate that he's being funny about it.

I watched it when it was released (I was 9 years old) but for years I doubted my memory that it actually existed. I had caught chicken pox at the time and thought that it was just a fever dream. Sadly, it is a real thing.

I was 5 years old. I LOVED IT. The stormtroopers raiding the treehouse gave me nightmares

Just to recap, this came from the same guy who said Jar Jar Binks and the Howard the Duck movie were okay to show to the rest of society, which meant that this special was the one project that he was PERSONALLY ASHAMED OF.

At around 1:54, Mr. Daniels attempted to use the Jedi Mind Trick to change the subject.

After reading so many comments i can't hold back: Guys, we all know that the sequel trilogy was bad, disappointing and clearly not planned from the beginning but let's be real they aren't the worst thing ever since battlefield earth, twilight or this holiday special. They have redeeming qualities thanks to their production value and the acting, that the offered mention haven't, and if you take each film as just a standalone action fantasy space epic they are watchable, not good or a great continuation of the story but not eye bleeding thing that the internet makes it out!

I love how the voice of C-3PO is just his natural voice.

You will not find the "Star Wars Holiday Special" with Walt Disney.

I in know way believe that these young actors complained at all in making this special. As a kid watching it when it was on . We were all so excited
