The forbidden planet is one of my favourite childhood movies, I think I saw it for the first time when I was about 6 or 7 around 1980, it scared the crap out of me! Then when I was about 10 I went into hospital to have my tonsils removed and the kids ward I was in had it on an old video disc player, I watched it two or three times and loved it. Then it was on TV and I recorded it and watched it regularly for a few years. Not seen it in about 25 years now and I’m 50 now, almost afraid to watch it in case it sucks 😂

'Oh you kids would've enjoyed that time', 'it was so different back then', 'It was nothing like today', 'you could leave your door open and no one would bother you'... This was back in the threshold of the 80's, another great decade brought to you by the 20th century.... I am 57, and I still have my father around, 81 years of age to be precise, now he tells me how much he misses the 80's.... Full Circle. @@kanaric you say that like it's some kind of defense, even though it's objectively not even close...way to trivialize the absolute lack of imagination from the Disney versions...statements like that just lift the burden of accountability...The prequels had ORIGINALITY. creative merit, from the creature designs and characters , to the set locations, to the wardrobe, the amazing John Williams score, and some very memorable scenes...so many staples from those films that are still relevant, because they came from the actual brain child of the thing... and so many kids who are adults now still cherish them... kids today, much like everyone else, couldn't be more apathetic towards today's SW...which have none of the things I mentioned.

See guys, this is the original Star Wars motion picture from 1952, the one that started perhaps the most legendary, most influential franchise of all time, I first saw it in the early 90s, I was a snotty-nosed boy like 7 years old, of course it was a rerun on cable TV but for me it was the first experience with the franchise, I remember it vividly, I was glued to the screen and my eyes became glassy. None of the sequels came anywhere close to the magic of this masterpiece. Thank you for refreshing this beautiful precious memory, dear Abandoned Films team! 💜

Dark Horse Comics once did an adaptation of the original rough draft of Star Wars, which was a very different plot (basically a "Hidden Fortress" rip-off). The art style was a lot like this, very 50's sci-fi. I'd actually like to see it filmed. It was a pretty good story in its own right, although it needed some polishing.
