Yeah I think you should seriously rewrite the next two seasons. Especially Season 4. The worst parts of that season was Moon's sudden turn and then being immediately forgiven and Globgor's arc. Moon's sudden shift from "I'm doing nothing" to "Sure, Mina let's restart the dangerous program of which you are the only survivor of to overthrow Eclipsa". Like seriously Moon claims to be "Stopping Mina from doing something far worse" and "Doing right by her people". Yet she has Globgor released who if he was as monstrous as the MHC said he was, would have slaughtered a stadium of people she claims to care about. Then she begins having the villagers of her new community undergo the Solarian process which causes instability and aggression and eventually they'll destroy themselves. Not to mention she trusted a nut like Mina who immediately turns on her and we learn she didn't test her failsafe to make sure it worked. Then she's immediately forgiven despite putting her people at risk of being killed TWICE, putting her daughter's own life in danger and putting the lives of the heirs of four allied Kingdoms at risk (Spiderbite Kingdom, Underworld, Pidgeon and Cloud) which would have cost the Kingdom dearly and at least one person died because of her actions. BULLSHIT. TOTAL BULLSHIT! Life needs consequences, and Moon received none. Globgor despite being the thing Season 3 ended with a cliffhanger of is frozen for most of the season and only has two focused on him as a character with him talking and showing his personality. You could say four counting Swim Suit and Suriving the Spiderbites but he is still frozen and it's just people talking about him and they both feel similar. It's basically "He's bad! Don't free him!". "Should Star trust Eclipsa?". We hear about how he burned a village down, he ate people. He has paintings made from the blood of his enemies and sculptures about him being feared IN HIS OWN HOME along with tapestry depicting his carnage. We also learned he ate Eclipsa's ex husband after he gave their baby to an abusive robot (Who we never learn who built her or why she created the school or why it has artwork that was revealed to be part of Globgor's tapestry) which causes some logistical problems of when the events of his and Eclipsa's imprisonement. Eclipsa says the truth is more complicated...but never gives a definitive answer to anything. All of Globgor's past deeds are brought up and forgotten about and he's immediately accepted...really? He's a big softy. That's it. I'd rather he be something of an anti-hero. he loves his family dearly but he has no qualms about killing. He doesn't regret his actions and he's more angry about what the MHC has done to him and his family. Not seeking active vengeance against the Mewni populace of the present but rather the ones who did this who are still around. The Magic High Commission. We even got hints Globgor is a bit vicious when Eclipsa says Meteora takes after her father when she hissed at the mention of Marco's name. All that buildup for a drop of blood. Oh and more thing. The MHC are reduced to one dimensional villains in Season 4 and just die in the end. Really? No realizing the errors of their ways and maybe sacrificing themselves. No attempts to make amends. Rhombulas seemed to feel guilty for what they did to Meteora. The fallout of the reveal of what they did is barely explored like many things in this show. The MHC's actions are only brought up in the finale but other then that they don't face consequences besides Eclipsa being implied to no longer meeting with them on a regular basis as implied by Omni in "Pizza Party". Marco still hangs out with Hekapoo despite her being revealed to be a Deep State globalist that was running Mewni from the shadows. No discussion of what she did. He's just still buddies buddies with her. I was honestly Globgor would give them a good old fashion smackdown and they're like the Asgardians at the start of Infinity War.

Sounds like you could write your own video essay :) the whole thing with Moon's betrayal is so weird and rapped up in so many other problems its hard to talk about. why do the MHC and Moon want to fight Eclipsa so much? it seems like the only thing she ever did was fall in love with globgor, and "mess with dark magic" the former seeming like a good thing, because she apparently reformed him, and the latter having no real consequences besides some spooky arm tattoos, so why was Moon and by extension, the MHC, willing to go to such extremes to defeat her? why did the MHC freeze eclipsa in the first place? we never find out, so what happens to the MHC in the end feels hollow because we never really understood why they were doing what they were doing. Globgor ends up being a complete non-character simply because at the point he's introduced there was no room for moral grey in the story, the fact that both he and eclipsa were set up as villains and then turned out to be good makes me think that this is all down to sloppy writing, that at one point one or both of these character WERE intended to be the villains. And more thought out, morally complex villains at that. but instead they backtracked and we ended with black and white Mina... a boring joke character with no moral ambiguity whatsoever. your thoughts about ani-hero globgore kind of line up with some of my ideas actually :)

I don't know if either of them were ever intended to be "evil" in the classic sense, but it's certain at least one of them would have worked better as anti-hero or more morally ambiguous.

I couldn't agree more, the show did Moon's character wrong by literally just throwing her potential as a character out of the window. I've always held firm to the idea that it would have been so great to see Moon slowly shift away from her overbearing controlling nature, to becoming free from her royal bondage. This was a woman who lost her childhood and motherhood to the responsibilities of the throne, and it would have been honestly great to spend a season just watching her grow into becoming a better mother for Star and letting go of having to take care of others, this would have tied in nicely with having Star and Moon reconcile their iffy conflicts with her learning to let go and even leaning on a now more responsible Star.

Please, please, pleaseee write the other two seasons! You have such good ideas and I'd love to hear them. Not to mention the editing deserves so much credit. You did a wonderful job

"The whole thing is dropped eventually and never really mounts to anything". That's a problem the actual show faces a lot. Particularly in the 4th season.

Yeah, I think my favorite is the whole "realm of magic turning purple with evil unicorns" thing because it has absolutely nothing to do with anything else in the plot, thematically or otherwise XD It's just sort of there.

@@csflearninginstruments8150 correct, but that plot point has nothing to do with anything else going on, and ends up being so inconsequential that they could have removed it entirely without really changing anything. the way its used gives me the impression that they had more plans involving "dark" magic and its side effects, but they never got the chance to implement them.

Nice job mate! I really like your rewrites for season 1 and 2, I don't care if its fanfic but i am totally in for an continuination for your version of svtfoe:)

I'm two years late to the party, but for the love of Moon's wasted character potential, man write the next two seasons! Additionally, the next time you think about referencing ATLA, I strongly advice you to do so. Out of everything I've read and watched, nothing comes close to how well ATLA just told a story.

"Contradiction of being overprotective and leaving her in another dimension unsupervised for two seasons" Yeah that's something I've always wondered. Moon told Star not to use the scissors but never bothers to check on her to see if she's being responsible and doesn't seem to monitor her. What does she expect to happen?

of all the aspects of the show, I really wish they had delved into the relationship between Moon and Star better. it's an inherently interesting dynamic with the whole mother daughter/ queen princess thing. But the two never really gain a better understanding of each other, and I was really said when it seemed like they were writing moon out of the show with the whole "she doesn't have to be in charge anymore" thing, then I was kinda upset when the wrote her back in with the betrayal. it's like we never really got to the bottom of either character and all the time we spent learning about them was pointless.

@@pairoframblers3497 Yeah the betrayal was so interesting in concept but totally bad in execution. Moon basically nearly got everyone killed and got forgiven instantly? That's also part of the problem. Not to mention we got hints in Butterfly Follies of how Moon use to make pies all the time when she was a kid. Implying maybe they were close when she was a child. What I really liked in Battle for Mewni was the first part of Moon and Star just playing off each other. We don't get something like that for the rest of the series.

Moon and Star being of Pie Folk descendant, another thing that really didn't tie with anything else and wasn't actually necessary to the story. Glossaryck's answer to why Moon was sent to Pie Island? "Magic sure had a reason".

@@InazumaSensei There might have been some thematic stuff with them being of Pie Folk descent. The Pie Folk are liars, con artists and thieves. Festivia (unknowingly) fooled Mewni for Centuries into believing she was a blood Butterfly and uknowingly so did every Butterfly that came after her. But yeah other then that, nothing was done with it. It was foreshadowed in the Book of Spells (The recipe Moon uses came from her dead mother Comet the Chef who said the recipe has been in their family for centuries and Festivia loved pies). Also Glossaryck's line of looking for Moon was "That was your first mistake" might have been foreshadowing to her betrayal. Maybe Star should have just left Moon on Pie Island.

Glossaryck doesn't say that looking for Moon was a mistake, but being in the magic dimension "at all", in general.

I will say this, the fact that the fanfictions are significantly better than the show itself says a lot. I’m not trying to bad mouth the writers or make fun of them but the thing is for a crew that wanted to make a plot driven story they made some questionable decisions that they should’ve stay clear from. This as a whole eventually takes away the story’s importance and leaves it with nothing more than Shipping drama, pointless fillers, and unresolved plot points that we’re never fully answered like Seth of septarsis.

Great rewrite. I would say that the 1st season rewrite was the best, just because it makes the characters unique, essential and interesting. In the next season of this rewrite, I suggest you focus on the parallels between Moon, Eclipsa, Meteora (as Heinous), and Star. The first three characters could represent different extremes that Star doesn't want to reach with her life, as they all appear to be consumed by their respective value. In my opinion, Star as the surrogate of the audience has enormous potential.

Loved The Video👍 And Yeah, Season 3 and 4 did get it's potential wasted I mean They had lot's of foreshadow that Toffee could've been Future Marco (With Toffee Being Courteous to Marco when Marco was Captured by Toffee and Marco walking up to Toffee's Coat Hanger with The Mirror when They Destroyed Toffee in season 1 when he wiped away the dust from the mirror with his face in the mirror over toffee's tie and coat) but what did they do with The Foreshadow? never look back at it again. Throughout many comments I’ve seen in Blue Order’s video, a majority have claimed that Tom deserved so much more respect due to undergoing redemption. But Star has acted like a terrible girlfriend in Seasons 3-4. It may not be much, but I came up with decent treatment for the demon in the last 2 seasons. Tom and Star help other with becoming better, and help each other with signing the Petition of Friendship for the Monster Bash. The Blood Moon Curse would be broken before the end of Season 3. As Season 4 progresses, Tom is there with Star and River with finding Moon. This can also be that Tom has moved into the Monster Temple for the time being. As Season 4 goes after finding Moon, the healthy lovebirds embrace the Archives, in order to understand Glossaryck’s strange response about Toffee. They discover the Lizard’s ties with Eclipsa, as Tom and Star are unexpectedly separated by an unknown force. This can or cannot count as feedback, but it’s how I can tribute to Tom. Your take on the demon prince is another aspect I look forward to, and I can’t wait. Edit: It’s been months since I previously wrote this comment. As of now my ideas have changed greatly. Seasons 1 and 2 just has a couple of changes in my version. 3 and 4 is getting a bit more different, yet there’s enough space for an additional Season 5.

Tom is hard because despite being in the show a lot he's very rarely relevant to the main plot, which bums me out cause I kinda like him as a character. As he is though its difficult to tie him in with the stuff going on unless you just completely change his role in the story, but to be fair the same could be said about a lot of other characters in the show. in general I think he and most of the other side characters (Janna, ponyhead, Kelly, and so on) suffer and have a hard time being interesting because they're all in a show that isn't about them and are all in a plot where they have nothing too do.

I admire your take on a retold version of Season 2 and Battle for Mewni. If you really are going to a fanfic approach, does this mean that you’re also going to correct the writing flaws in Season 3? It could be beneficial that Toffee played a more impactful role while the main cast still takes on Meteora. Plot points such as Mewman-Human connection, Marco’s cheekmarks, and Toffee’s ties to the main cast were never really covered. So that could be important topics deeply established into the main story. All this has also given me an assist for my semi-original ideas for my own rewrite, and I can’t wait for the Season 3 and 4 rewrites.

thanks for the comment :) I'll definitely be looking into a few of those points as well as others in my season 3 video, I'm also glad to see that despite the fact the show has been over for a year and a half now, there are still some people who will be interested to see it XD and I'd also love to hear about your ideas as well sometime :D

I hope there will still be room for Toffee in your rewrite... Since the show didn't really give him justice, despite the claim from Dominic Bisignano that the series finale was intended at least partially to make him shine one last time.

The biggest problem with Toffee's death is that they didn't replace him with anything... Meteora never had a chance to do anything and Mina is just so flat and bland. the show got rid of its only good villain and never gave us something to fill the void

I've heard it argued and I agree with this Mina makes sense as she represents Mewni's bloodiest and darkest period of conflict that even Moon says was a dark time. I just wish it happened earlier in the show, her actions were more logical and consistent and there were serious consequences to them.

@@pairoframblers3497 Meteora is considered to a flat villain, in a way that lacks the needed development. Toffee was mysterious and expanded the lore on a whole new level. Ludo had to struggle and survive as he lost the authority he had in Season 1. Meteora only appeared once before Monster Bash. She didn’t receive enough screen time to prove herself as someone to take seriously. She’s threatening yes, but unlike Mina, Meteora has potential to be the result of some kind of Chain Reaction that begins after Battle of Mewni.
