This was published in the early days of audiobooks when they were severely edited to three hours (no matter how many pages the book was). The listening public gradually demanded unabridged audiobooks.

I loved this. One of my favorites. It’s bone chillingly good! And James Doohan does a terrific job narrating this. Not to mention an awesome McCoy impersonation as well as Kirk.😁🖖🏻

That ending is so out of place. It's a nice sitcom ending I suppose, but I think the proper ending would have been Bones quitting fleet and permanently hating Clay. I know it's Star Trek so it's got an element of utopian thinking, but that ending just didn't work. Please reply with your thoughts I am curious to what others think. And talk about a dark ending to their careers in Starfleet! Is this supposed to be canon?

Wow! This audiobook cuts out and changes a lot of the actual book. I don't recommend trying to follow along with it.
