Ugh gotta love/hate the moment you see that "to be continued" show up haha. Scotty is very Scottish. That's all I needed from this episode. Oh and I liked the design the mature Gorn, very menacing I hope we get a closer look in season 3. On the bright side, Captain Batel might survive! Pike deserves the win. On the sad side we'll probably have to wait over a year to find out with all the strikes happening in Hollywood. So, La'an got herself captured by the Gorn again. I'm sure that's going to go great for her psyche. M'Benga will either go ham or completely lose it. It's been a while since we had a Sam Kirk fakeout-death scene. We're overdue for one. Not really sure why they couldn't stick Captain Batel into the transporter buffer, and then screen the Gorn-business out of her when they figure out how to do that.

That is an adult Gorn... remember they can build Starships.

This is the first Scotty played by an actual Scottish actor.

One thing I really like is, Scotty has all the inventiveness he'll later be known for, but he probably doesn't yet have the discipline to be a chief engineer. Like, when he was Pelia's student, she'd probably issue an assignment like "build a communicator out of spare parts", and Scotty would build an alcohol-powered robot that gets into bar fights. He's probably that sort of genius at that point, and Pelia will help direct it. I'm guessing that Pike's next move will be to disguise the Enterprise as a Gorn ship, and that's what Scotty and Pelia will work on together.

The colony was deliberately meant to look like contemporary Earth, as it was an homage to the many TOS episodes featuring “Earth-like” planets and civilisations. I had wondered where they filmed it but, apparently it’s actually a studio backlot.

When you run into people eating aliens, I believe the phrase 'Eat or be Eaten' applies. I wonder if Gorn taste like chicken or maybe snake. Gorn, the new white meat.

Sam gets killed by a flying pancake in TOS so I'm not worried about him.

Store Marie in the pattern buffer until they can cure her/remove the Gorn.

Sam doesn't die until like 9 years from now in the TOS ep operation annihilate

They haven't mentioned Sam having a family. By the time of Season 2 of TOS, when he dies, he has a wife and at least one child (son who survives). Sam's character may leave the show to start a family in season 3 of SNW or at least become involved with a future wife.

Question: why did the adult Gorn die? Before you reply "the vacuum of space" or "lack of oxygen," remember the Gorn on Enterprise.

These Gorn are a total reboot - I wouldn't expect the Enterprise lore matters here.

A real Scottish Scotty

I and some others have theory gorn as they age they evolve into something more intelligent. They may also slow too.

It was a very good episode to do a cliff hanger on. Just sucks with the writer strike delaying the next season.

Thought this was a decent episode but not great. Big fan of the adult gorn, though. Here's hoping for a satisfying resolution. Also, there were definitely some people still alive on that saucer when they crashed it into the planet. The colony was filmed at a little stage town somewhere in Canada, it's not a real town. It was built for Reacher I think.

Back in Star Trek when they used Paramount back lots with so many looking like Earth someone came up with Hodgkins theory parallel development. 😊

They used parts of the Andy Griffith show set for a few episodes. "Miri," "The City on the Edge of Forever," "The Return of the Archons" and "A Piece of the Action" There's a video showing how Hogan's Heroes and Mayberry sets were were right next to each other.

Another great episode. Congratulations on the upgrade commercial free Paramount Plus, less wish I could afford it but I was there from day one so I have a lower rate but still have commercials as for the ending I don’t like it dr. manga and the rest are in trouble, but if to be lcontinue, doesn’t bother me as much as the strikes not over yet and they haven’t written one word of strange new worlds season three yet it’s gonna take at least a year or maybe two before we see any new Star Trek if the strike doesn’t end soon. Great work it’s so fun to watch the show with you. Thank you for that. not to mention all the other shows and movies we’re not seeing because of the strike with the poor reality shows until they come back I don’t know I know with you, but I can’t stand those the bachelor or bachelorette survivor big brother, amazing race I just can’t get into them, even Jeopardy to the writers for questions. I can’t believe that ask questions and season ones are going to stay. You don’t need to have writers for that

cool fact. because actors are greedy ...you wont see the next ep for like 3 to 4 years. if ever. they need that extra million dont you know?

Wow, you know nothing about the strike, do you? You just assume it's about rich actors who want even more money, I guess. Even though the vast majority of actors in Hollywood barely make enough to survive. Some make the same one does in a minimum wage job yearly. And protecting the writers, producers and actors (and others) who work hard to get out the tv shows, movies and what not we all enjoy, why shouldn't they be compensated properly? And this strike is mostly about streaming residuals as it is, it's a huge deal right now considering how big streaming is now.
