Nimoy wasn't wearing one...Shatner was though. Both were fairly fit...even though he liked to put away the booze(a thing never kind to your waistline), Shatner spent the first half of his career doing Shakespeare and that meant he had to know how to fight in any scenes that called for it. With fists OR swords. The man wasn't any slouch in that area. A ham, yes. Very much a ham. You could smell it sizzling in the skillet in nearly every scene. And he was wearing a toupee, definitely. And over the following decades he would let himself go a bit, while Nimoy(who liked to bike a lot and didn't drink nearly as much) stayed fit. But Shatner wasn't short on skills.

I'm still furious that they got the whitest dude ever, Benedict Cumberbatch, to play Khan in the Kelvin timeline sequel movie. There's no excuse, because as Khan's cryogenic ship left Earth before the Kelvin timeline diverged, it must have been physically the same Khan as in TOS. Cumberbatch is an objectively fine actor, but he was horribly miscast. Khan he ain't! There's plenty of South American or Indian actors who would have relished the role and done a better job. But nobody could ever outperform Ricardo in the role.

@The Fandom Menace Madlyn Rhue was indeed a beautiful and shapely woman. Sadly, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1977, a disease that would plague her for the next 26 years. She bravely continued working through 1996. But the debilitating illness kept her from reprising her role as Marla McGivers for “Star Tek II: The Wrath of Khan”. Out of respect for her, her character was written out rather than re-cast. RIP Madlyn.

When you realise Khan was more than willing to have himself, Kirk , the crew, and his own people killed when the arc went critical just so he could beat Kirk . It indicates that for all his charm and intellect he's a megalomaniac with a god complex to the extent that he has no regard for his life let alone anyone else's, he'd rather die than be defeated . It also perfectly foreshadows his instability and actions in Wrath Of Khan.

No one beats Kirk in hand to hand combat. His unique fighting style of dishing out flying dropkicks, judo throws and double-hammerfists like Bruce Lee doped up on ten pounds of quaaludes was way more balls-out than any alien could handle, and those who were tough enough to withstand his fumbling fists of fury found themselves on the receiving end of a patented James T. Kirk OPEN HAND JUDO CHOP. His technique of slapping someone in the neck with the blade of his hand was so vicious it could drop a blood-lusted Minotaur in it's tracks. Khan has no chance.

Kirk might be by far the worst of all captains.. he literally doesn't use his mind a single time, that's how all bad things keep happening - including this, probably the worst of his decisions "well, there's a group of nearly invicible, highly aggressive people, who just tried to destroy the ship and kill the whole crew who saved their lives.. instead imprisoning or executing them, let's put them on a planet without any guard - they surely won't come back in a few years to end what they begun." - and all of this without approval of starfleet command, he just let them disappear for no damn reason.. I wish TOS were about Pike instead of Kirk because I can really not see how Kirk ever even finished starfleet academy.

It was laughed at in Into Darkness, I suppose deservedly, but I always thought Spock should have been sent to confront Khan. Even match. Kirk didn't expect to get his play dough phaser crushed. It doesn't get much thought, but isn't Khan trying to commit suicide rather than be captured? I would think escape more practical. And if these are all supermen, why was Khan the only one to react appropriately to the gas? Because plot, obvs. Kirk seems to have better karate in this fight. Seems a deficiency in Khan's arsenal. CumberKhan put up a spirited fight in ID. The "augmented men are resistant to phaser stun" thing in Trek is silly. They don't even try to explain it. Space Seed is a gem and Wrath of Khan is the best.
