God I miss these years of my life. Not once have I gotten the same feeling with the new trek series or movies, not once. Star Trek is, was and will forever be DS9 for me.

I really liked Voyager, but nothing beats TNG/DS9 era for me, and never will. Funny thing, the animated comedy Star Trek show "Lower Decks" reminds me of the older shows more than anything else post Voyager. It's set in the TNG era and has so many great references. I love it.

This theme is so epic I never knew when I was watching the show

IMHO, this is the best version I'd heard of the Star Trek DS9 opening theme. It starts out orchestral, but then it rocks it! with guitar, bass, and drum. If only the rock version was used in the TV series. Even if they had to shorten it to fit the opening theme time frame, it would've made for a more interesting open theme, wouldn't you say?

Part of this is actually the "single version," which adds the drums and electric guitar. It's actually featured as early as the "Emissary" soundtrack!

I really loved this theme. Brings back memories of sitting in front of the TV....Thanks for posting this....

I know how you feel. My Parents were not exactly science fiction fans like I was growing up, but I have many wonderful me,pries of gathering around the t.v., to watch Star Trek, Star Trek the next generation, Deep Space Nine, even Seaquest DSV & Quantum Leap! I wish there was more science fiction shows on t.v., these days.

Ten out of 10. If ever the studio makes a feature length DS9 movie, this is the theme they should use.

Beautiful Theme! I will never forgive TNG or Deep Space Nine for not including my favorite aliens the Gorn Hegonomy in 14 yrs. They should have been included at least 6 times. SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

I really hope star trek goes back to their roots one day. Both long-term story telling and episodic. Nostalgia is a bitch. Great remix BTW!

well at least we've got lower decks and strange new worlds to kinda bring star trek back to what it was, plus disco is getting better by the season, however I do think it's made a few mistakes along the way that still need to be ironed out. overall I bet it'll eventually find its sea legs, all star trek shows take a while to get started, I wouldn't dismiss it as total garbage just yet

Thanks for posting this. What a great theme. Heroic, and almost mournful at the same time. But full of hope. I like Alexander Courage's TOS and the movies themes, but this is the best of the themes that don't use that music.

It's so epic that it's unreal. Star Trek at it's finest.

This literally has me in tears! This is the way I would have liked to see the intro to the last episode done! That said, there are a few notable characters missing (I don't know if that was an editing choice or what). I figured I'm mention those here, in case you'd like to add them in: Either I missed them, or (if you'd like to) please add Hana Hatae & Michelle Krusiec as Moilly O'Brien, and Felecia M. Bell as Jennifer Sisko. Also, please update Nana Visitor to also being the Chief Intendant (that was her Mirror Universe role). Colm Meaney also needs to have his role as "Smiley" added. I'm not sure, but I think the other Mirror Universe characters had the same names as the Prime Universe characters did. You might also want to include Iggy Pop as Yelgrun (I mean, you really do need to add him)! Other memorable characters were Barbara March as Lursa and Gwynyth Walsh as B'Etor, and I don't remember seeing them here either. Another is Shannon Cochran as Sirella. It would do great honor to your house to edit this and include those greats who are missing! I'm rewatching this before posting my comment here, to be sure, but I might have just missed some of these anyway.

The Klingon sisters only clocked up one DS9 appearance though, if they were included, it would have to include Q, Vash and other any TNG visitors. But Tora Ziyal, Enabran Tain, Kai Opaka, Kor, Alexander and Luxanna Troi all showed up more than once. And of course there's the voices of the Federation and Cardassian computers which probably have more credits than Ezri!

I feel like, if it were included in the last episode, the rock stuff should drop out around 30 seconds before the end of the intro. Let it end nostalgically instead of epicaly.

DS-9 has the most epic space battles in all of Trek, and this video showcases them well.

Its lovely, really well done. Please don't rip me apart when i say this but in my humble opinion even this wonderful extended rendition pales in comparison to the thunderous booming orchestral overtures of Dennis McCarthy's revamped score as of Season 4 and beyond. When he jacked up the theme it was like nothing else!

I like the mentions of the supporting cast in this title sequence; especially mentioning both of Dax's hosts in the history of DS9 (Jadzia and Ezri). Nice touch

So, so fantastic. Is there somewhere I can download this music so I can listen to it whenever I need a lift? I have the actual extended version and truly enjoy this one just as much. Also, I love the fact that Nog's (Max Grodenchik) name appears in the Celestial Temple.

So majestic, it's similar to 'Fanfare for The Common Man'. If only human beings behavior was as honorable as the way this music sounds!

This show begs for a 4K upscale/special edition. The FX shots can be re-rendered with high quality assets. There are dozens of high quality artists who would happily work on such a project.

I just purchased the complete TNG series on Blu-ray last week. So it had me thinking the same thing. I did an online search and found an article with someone involved being asked this question. It seems it all comes down to money. Remastering and updating TNG took a LOT of time and money for the time period. It seems Paramount didn't make back the money spent on the restoration via sales, and any chance of a DS9 or Voyager remaster is likely not happening. However, some say it could change with all the improvements in A.I. tech Normally I'm not a fan of how A.I. is taking over jobs, but if it would help remaster DS9 and Voyager, I'll tolerate it for a bit.

Was a firm 90s tng fan. DS9 lost out to babylon 5. Recently brought ds9 on DVD and is probably the best of the 3. Although voyager has also recently become very good, thanks to DVD. Love B5 and bsg

Thank You. I created it myself... I went through and compiled shots from different episodes. I wanted to tell a story. First seeing DS9 then transition to the Defiant with her going into the Gamma Quadrant and fighting the Jem'Hadar and coming back and dealing with the local bad guys to fighting in the Dominion War. Frankly I'm surprised the scenes fit with the music so well.

The guitar and synth sounds very much like coming back to life by pink floyd or 80’s pink floyd in general.

My original reply seems to have been deleted. No clue why? 🤷‍♂️ Anyway, I have an old DS9 soundtrack where I first heard this version ages ago. However the original theme and the rock version are two separate tracks. The rock version is labeled as a single. I now prefer it joined together thanks to this video. Search online for DS9 Soundtrack, the soundtrack your looking for will state it's from the original episode "The Emissary" The cover will show the DS9 station with photos of the cast lined vertically on either side of DS9. I don't check replies on KZread often, but I hope this helps if your interested.

This is very well done, and I don’t want you to think otherwise! However… I don’t think it really captures the essence of Deep Space Nine very well. Too much focus on the _Defiant_ away from the station, blowing shit up. Yes, DS9 had a lot of space battles, but ultimately the show was about so much _more_ than that. Just the feeling I got, sorry 🤷‍♂️
