Icelandics are kinda supposed to be stiff in the back, they're not dressage ponies but they have to be very stable, strong and need to take their owner over an island with almost no roads until a few years ago. That's what they're bred for and thats why most if the 'action' takes place on the forehand (front) and almost none in the backhand (back). Now they're also used as showponies and they judge mostly on stable back, and flashy forelegs :) also head positions

The Dun Sabino is actually a coat specific to Icelandic horses. The horse has been isolates on the island for a very long time. Horses that are exported out of the country are not allowed back in. Absolutely no horses are allowed into Iceland because they are trying to keep the Icelandic breed as pure as it can be. Also, the black and white is a pinto, not a paint. Paint is a breed. Pinto is a color.

@Krissy J erm no. He won’t change fully white, he will remain the way he is. Markings do not grow over time, the pink skin stays the same so the markings stay the same. It’s a KIT mutation, a white spotting gene known as w21. If you google W21 Icelandic horse, horses with this ‘Sabino-like’ pattern appear. The horse in game is a very realistic representation of w21. Dominant white is not ‘a’ gene, many genes can lead to a horse being max white phenotype, even if they have a completely different genotype, and often a mixture of many genes - not just a particular one. I recommend joining Equine colour genetics group on Facebook and reading up about the different KIT mutations! Max white horses are white from birth as their whole body is a big pinto marking, it doesn’t ‘develop’.

I got the last one that Violet looked at and named it Maskedrabbit, and his nickname is Clyde. I was randomizing the name and then I landed on Masked(other name) and thought, "Hmm, I like that." Then looked up where the name Clyde came from - it was from Scotland and Ireland - and named it after the country's nation animal -- a rabbit! I overall love the new Icelandics and that the slow gallop is like a faster tolt. Love your videos Violet! ❤

There is actually a sport for icelandics called ice tölt, where you show the horses on ice :) They have studs in their shoes of course, so they don't slip ;)

oh, and the canter tolt thingy is a Flying Pace, once again, Your welcome. ❤😂

The first gait is the walk, then trot, canter, flying pace, (look closely at the legs, at this pace, they dont move naturally as they do in the trot, they left legs move forward at the same time, then the right legs move forward at the same time) It quite cool! then gallop and tolt.

The one you thought was an Appaloosa is actually a dominant white, which was newly discovered in Icelandic horses. The sso horse is based off a stallion called Ellert frá Baldurshaga, where the W21 gene was first discovered.

The one with this eye color thing is called Sabino which is my favourite (also i can be your color expert)the other one beside the pinto is a blue roan and the dark one is just dark bay and id say its a silver dapple in Germany we would call it Windfarben but im not completely sure.

I got the apaloosa sort of palamino one. Her name is Hazel and I put her in the show braids with the forlock out

The Appaloosa horse is called a rad Rone. And the Appaloosa one is also called a splattered Appaloosa.And the grey one is called a Grullo

Actually, Icelandic’s are competing on ice. It’s called icetølt, it legit, no joke😌 they are quite stable on the ice when riding tölt

I bought that W21 or however is this horse called, because the second I saw it, I fell in love with it. His jorvik name is Cookiecrumb and his nickname is Cookiecrumble (since it unfortunately wasn't an option 😥). He's my second horse that has a nickname, the first is that arabian from Jorvik Stables open house days, because he's named Spacefather and nicknamed Shiro 😅

I got the chestnut Icelandic! I called her Vanillahoney. She has got to be one of my favourite horses I have!
