I once found an old flag that had been buried in storage at a cafe I worked in at the time. The boss had told me to just throw it out with rest of the junk but I said "absolutely the fuck not". I gave that good flag a tri-fold and it still sits on the shelf I put it on in that cafe. And if anyone touches it, I will crush their bones.

If your a communist you got no right to protest as you are not an American anymore and no longer have that right and can go live in some communist shit hole is you got a problem with being here, go live and protest in Cuba or China or North Korea, that be your countries and you can go live with the rest of the commies.

I won't disagree that the story should be told. And there should be respect given for those of the past. And the sacrifices many made for multiple freedoms over the 3 centuries. Some of which took longer for us to see. But there are plenty who don't choose and know they are different in their hearts and souls. And that is something to be worked out properly when the person in question is old enough to better make their own decisions. And this is coming from a small town Kansas Republican raised farmer. Who works in archaeology.

When I was a child everyone in my classroom had to stand up and put our hands on our heart and recite - the pledge of allegiance - before we started the day in class.I wish they would bring that back to public schools to allow us to honor our country.

I’m a Marine Corps veteran. There are so many times I’ve lost faith in my government, but never in my country if that makes sense. The individual people are what make this country what it is. And I’ll go to my grave resenting much of what our government has done that has irreparably damaged human beings. Both foreign and domestic. But this flag is symbolic of so much more than what I can communicate. I’m glad you watched this. Love one another. Period.

I agree that our country and it's people is where we should derive our pride from, and yes the flag symbolizes that, it also symbolizes brotherhood/sisterhood between those that are not your blood, but who you're with in some god forsaken country and the sight of that symbol is like a hug from home when you're in the shit, and that symbol flew high in the face of evil destruction to our homeland, and thousands of deaths to our citizens and 343 of my brothers on Sept. 11th 2001. At the same time we have to be honest with ourselves, and realize that symbol, our flag, represents untold human suffering that is about to befall your country, because your leaders did not bend a knee to U.S. politicians, or your country is between oil rich countries, and the land of the free considers your people acceptable collateral damage in order to keep oil prices down. I respect what our flag stands for, and I respect the men and women who have fought and died for what that flag is supposed to represent, but they didn't give their lives for a symbol, they gave their lives for an idea, a dream of a more perfect union. I understand respecting the flag, and I ALWAYS DO, but sometimes I feel as if people will take more time out of their day, to complain at city hall that their breaking flag code by not illuminating the flag at night, before they'd stop and help a homeless vet sitting on the corner they drive by everyday on their way to work. IDK, it's a lot to factor in, but I believe in we the people, more than anything, can someday rise above all this.

I spent 22 years of my young life serving and defending this country even if some hated my kind. As soon as I put the uniform on no one cared about my skin tone or if my eyes are slanted. It brings tears to my eyes that majority of American born men and women do not have an ounce pride for our flag. Every country have their own past of injustices and corruption but I'd rather live and die in this country over any other country in the world. I will never forget my roots and my culture but I am an American FIRST! These men and women who sacrificed their lives to be where we are now the least we can do is stand tall when this song played.

Thank you for your service. The ending of the Anthem is very important. It is a question. "O say does that Star Spangled Banner yet wave, O'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave?" We're supposed to answer, "Yes, it still does. We're still free, and still brave. We've kept the flag and its meanings." One day, we'll have to answer, "No. We're no longer free, and we abandoned the flag." That will be the darkest day in American history, but it will come, I am sure, possibly sooner than we realize. The question in that, however, used to compel us to do what we could to preserve our systems. Now, nobody believes in them.

Through all of our histories fault, there is no other nation that gives all the chance at Freedom, and it should never be taken lightly for it could be taken away, and that is why we jealousy defend the Bill of Rights and are bitter when they are attacked by those that do not care about anything but their own power, and as we move forward, consent via silence allows those corrupted individuals to take more and more, until the people say enough.

I am a veteran. And 2 of my 3 kids have/are serving. Problem is, this right here isn't taught in school anymore. American History has been washed down to fit a narrative. Not all the truths in our History. And bring back the Pledge but being respectful of other people's religion go back to the 1923 version. It wasn't until 1953 when the words "under God" were added. Because we may be one nation but not all people believe in God use that name for their God and we are a melting pot after all.

I'm German born. My American military husband was very proud being an American. After he brought me to this country, I didn't know anything about the American Anthem. We lived on base, and every time the flag was raised, my husband stood at attention and saluted the flag. When I asked him what he was doing and why he stood at attention, he tried to explain it to me. I didn't understand what he was trying to tell me. After I spoke more English and I watched many of these videos. I finally understood. I now salute the flag also and cried how the Anthem came about. I'm proud to live here and I'm thankful that I'm allowed to live here in this beautiful proud country. America became my second home and I learned about the meaning of the Anthem and the American law. Knowing the sacrifices that was made to keep America free made me proud to be allowed to live here. I now salute the flag. I respect every service personal and I thank them for their service. Willingly they give their life to keep us free. I am grateful to them. Every person living in this country need to respect the Anthem. Many kneel when the Anthem is played. They don't deserve to live here. I'm surprised how many American people don't know the meaning of the American Anthem. They just utter the words without knowing the sacrifices our forefathers have made for all of us. May God always bless and protect America.

I’m an Australian and every time I hear your Star Spangled Banner I have tears flowing down my cheeks and it’s all I can do not to burst into tears. One day I thought this is ridiculous why would I be so touched by someone else’s national anthem. So I decided to look into it. I found the story and when I heard it and realised it wasn’t just about a country’s national anthem it was about the humanity, perseverance and devotion to freedom in those men giving their lives for the whole country under the most direst of circumstances. Somehow the melody and lyrics convey that courage and tenacity and we can all feel it.

As a Dutch person, living here in the Netherlands, I want to say that you have no idea the value you are having by making this video and the others. You are willing to look beyond the race issue, the past from people of color as a separate group within the country, and start looking at the past of the country as a whole. As you and everyone born and raised in the US is American , therefore you should all unite, look beyond the color and represent together what your country and flag stands for. In Europe we've had these battles long ago, but people in my country and many other countries in the world, look beyond the suffering as "a group" or "color", but unite as one country together. Brazil has so many ethnicities, they are all Brazilians and proud and there is no separate "groups" of black and white. The Netherlands, albeit a lot smaller, does the same and many others do. We all have a history individually, and as a country . Important is when to prioritise one above the other. Europe is now declining, cause the globalist have their foot in the door and that is not good, so divisions are created to make them win. We should never let them win , in no country in the world

After all our country has been through and with all that it's going through *right now* we still need to keep asking this question and we need to keep making sure the answer is a resounding yes. While we may not be going through a physical battle right now regarding our country and our flag, we're going through a societal one and I believe it's just as important to keep asking the question.

Sadly this is an extreme dramatization of the story. It is true that Francis Scott Key was caught up on board of a British ship and had to watch the attack, but the supposed conversations in this tale definitely never happened. First, the desired destruction of the fort was to remove the ability the US had to raise chains that would prevent the British from getting into firing range of Baltimore as the chains would block the bay. Second, taking Baltimore would not have ended the war, although it was definitely a major war goal for the British due to the fact that the War of 1812 was started partly because ships of the British navy kept stopping American merchant ships and forcing American crewmen to serve on the British warship. Baltimore was considered a major source of the support for the war on the American side, so the British wanted to punish the port city. But for those who don't know the real story will find this interesting.

This video, however many times I've watched it, still makes me ball my eyes out. If everyone understood the history of the Star Spangled Banner, we'd probably never have seen the ignorant support for kneeling during it. And now I hope more people understand the anger we have when they do...

Only 4 men died in the fort. Nobody was holding up any flag since the British never did fire on it. Maybe that was because it was a small fowl weather flag that was flown. The flag FS Key saw was the Garrison flag that was hoisted the next day. You might want to look up the Garrison flag and the Battle of Baltimore. The REAL story is much better...the truth always is.

On September 29th during the Battle of Chaffin’s Farm, he caught the American flag before it hit the ground, after the color bearer was shot down. He continued to carry the flag and rallied his men. His bravery earned him the Medal of Honor. Plus… Keys did indeed own slaves, however, he was said to have treated them humanly not cruelly, he even set some free, unfortunately he did played both sides of the fence, both prosecuting and defending slaves. The third verse of the anthem was directed at those who turned traitor to the USA. Both white and black.

I am a United States Navy Veteran. Just as K1ngM0ves has said below, the first thing we learned in the military is that we are colorblind when it comes to skintone and race. We see military personnel as rank and civilians that we defend. Defend not only the people, but also their rights. We defend their rights to free speech as much as we may not agree with what they are saying, all the way to speech we would say ourselves. We also defend their right to kneel at football games if the so choose to, even though that cuts our soul in ways they do not understand. Just how Dan Johnson has said below "There are so many times I've lost faith in my government, but never in my country", I second that 100%. We do not always agree with the direction our government takes us, but that doesn't change our views on the country as a whole. We as soldiers of the U.S. Armed Forces Stand. We as Americans Stand for our country. We don't kneel. Kneeling is an act of submission. We STAND. When a judge enters the court, we stand. When the President enters a room, we stand. When we pay respect to our fallen heroes, we stand. When we give our pledge of allegiance, we stand. When we hear the National Anthem, we stand. We stand because we all are equal. We stand because we are Americans, and we are free. The government is NOT the country, and the military is not the government just as the people are not the government. This is why the second amendment is a right of the people, for the people to be able to stand against a tyrannical government. That doesn't mean you are standing against the country, it means when the government is out of control and infringing upon it's peoples freedoms and rights. Anyways, food for thought, we are all brothers and sisters in humanity. Love one another and defend our freedom.

The reason is to not have them inspired by it. The agenda is to make us hate our country and bow down to the masters. Public schools need to be reformed. I went to middle school during 9/11 era, we were taught our american history, so the country was pretty patriotic for a while for the wrong reasons (invasion of iraq and afghanistan purely for oil from an inside job that we call 9/11), but I believe the agenda began ramping up when obama came into office.

The song was "To Anacreon in Heaven" and it had already been used several times in patriotic songs before it was used with Key's poem, creating our anthem. The tune was already known, and it was common practice throughout history, more often than not, to create new songs with already known tunes. This practice ironically began to die when this nation was founded, directly linked to the United States Constitution (Article I, Section 8, Clause 8) or what people call the Copyright Clause.

It was taught in the early 70s as well. We stood daily and saluted the flag and sang the national anthem. We were taught pride in our country before the leftist took over the media and the education system. Its been a slow methodical laid out plan..... Executed perfectly. How very sad...

When I was in elementary school during the 70’s we recited the Pledge of Allegiance every morning, or at least at the beginning of each school week. Until this moment, I hadn’t really thought about how impactful it is that schools DON’T have students do this anymore. One of the top things we need in this country, now more than ever as powers are working to tear it apart, is that sense of pride, responsibility, and loyalty for the land we call home. I just realized that my pre-teen son probably doesn’t know the Pledge or the Anthem, definitely hasn’t been taught this story, and won’t be required to take Civics or pass the U.S. Constitution class as we did for 8th grade. As Americans we should ALL know these things - even those who have mixed feelings about history. I’ll have to add these to what I teach him at home. Thank you for the reminder.

The Pledge is not only NOT said in school, it's being taught to DESPISE it! We are quickly falling from within: the only way to destroy America.

It is unthinkable that we don't our kids learn about this. It is fundamental to who we are as a people and a country. Some of these kids today have no idea and that's how the left wants it. It is easier for them to indoctrinate ignorant people than people who know how amazing our story is.

Respect Sir. Thanks for reviewing this. I've heard it many times. It's more fun to watch with a friend. I have a motto similar to "rather die on my feet than live on my knees." I say NEVER give up freedom for security. Never let the government quarantine you and ruin your business over the flue, for example.

Van you are extremely fortunate for a reason you don't even know yet - you actually are within an hour's drive to go see this place in person! It's a national park now right outside of Baltimore (the ships were in Baltimore's inner harbor) - it's somewhere every American should visit at some point - and it's nearby! I'll email you photos and info, it's a transforming experience to stand there. Cheers bud.

As a former military member, I know this story well. We were never to surrender the flag and absolutely NEVER let it touch the ground. It was a symbol for the fighting marines on iwa jima during wwII also. These arr the reasons people get so upset when someone steps on or burns the flag or kneels for the anthem. It represents what is so great about this country even when we citizens fail to live up to those ideals.

The ONLY recital a american patriot is supposed to stand for is the pledge of allegiance. That honor of standing is supposed to be special for it and to stand for anything else detracts from that reverence. That is actually part of our government, ie written and acknowledged by the house.
