I really love the aesthetic of Assault. It makes it pretty clear that time has passed and technology has evolved

I have no idea why people hate this game so much.

I believe it's a result of Assault being quite a departure from the typical Star Fox formula. It's entirely linear as opposed to having a few alternate routes. The story takes a front seat with lots of exposition instead of quick briefings. It's not the same almost arcade-like experience of the original or N64 titles. I feel that the quality of the content is notably higher, but there's significantly less.

It's kind of like the argument people always have about Metal Gear Solid 4. It was such a good game, if only I would have had a chance to play it within itself, but of course maybe that's a bad analogy. I dunno. I'm baised because I didn't have a nintendo 64 when I was a kid, so after Legend of Fox Mccloud: Planet of the dinosaurs, this was my first star fox game.

+A Friggin Unicorn I feel the "less content" critique is the only one that really holds water. As a kid who grew up with SF64, I see this game was a return to form. A bit clunky and dumbed down, sure, but the gameplay was still what I wanted from star fox. I don't even see the story as necessarily bad either, just needed better writing. Although this comes from a person who's convinced that star fox adventures would've been Rare's smash hit romp through furry-ville if they had just used the original character designs and ignored miyamoto's "advice" to use star fox.

Interestingly enough, I see a parallel between this and Zero in the complaints department (legitimate and otherwise). Kinda interesting, if you think about it.

i remember hearing something on that, as well as the game in general being rather underrated which is a shame in its entirety. kinda wish they made more on this tho id have loved to play this kinda thing till i died of exhaustion.

Take a shot every time MR_SHASTA says "essentially".

Hot take: if we ever get another Star Fox game, the gameplay should be based around some of the core ideas shown in this game, but with better and more modern controls of course. Imagine having the on-foot sections with *actual* shooter controls!

This game is awesome. I recently just played it blind and it was an incredibly fun experience!

Absolutely fantastic run and runner. Amazing commentary, too.

I still have this game. it's really fun and amazing. Love watching a run of it. :D

I gotta say, that was a pretty sick run! Not the flashiest beginning ever, but still quite well done! Considering the slight mistakes on mission 9 and the bad luck on the final boss, I think you can really have a chance to edge your WR a little bit if you keep trying! Excellent run for a marathon, shame that not too many people saw it because of the ass timing.

In a perfect world, then yes, every donation should be read, but in reality, they did their best. I dont hold it against them; the staff already does such a great job.

+Temple Of Azure Flame As someone who has hosted before, help process donations and run a game at a GDQ, we just don't have the time sadly. Almost every donation has a comment, and it would literally take the entire week of just reading donations if we read every single one out loud :/ Sadly, we just have to miss a lot of them as a result.

I'm sorry. I've had speech problems my whole life and more specifically it's easy for me to mumble and slur my words. Couple that with having a ton to say and not a whole lot of time to say it, you get what I do. Just gotta deal with the cards you're dealt with in life :(

Hmm, can't you aim with the C-stick instead? Wouldn't that make aiming a lot faster? I remember it actually being pretty comfortable, unlike most games using the C-stick for aiming. Cheers to running a good game.

I really want to watch this run but am so frustrated by the runners poor speaking abilities that it's hard to go more than a few minutes at a time.
