I melted some stuff that I wanted to get rid off anyways to get the F8, but if you complete SQ42 you will be able to buy one ingame so don't sweat it if you miss out now, btw it's not meta for PVP a good pilot in a light fighter still eat it up no problem at all. I do like it for PVE though.

I got one. No regret I love this ship and perfect for my play style. I make my money with bounties and this ship cuts through multiple enemies with remarkable ease I have to say. The 8 hard points can not be underestimated. My favorite ship so far was the Gladius, the f8 requires a slightly different approach though, less maneuverable but more fire power. I have not tried ERTs yet but VHRTs are no problem, the sheer fire power fully customized is quite amazing combined with two S2 shields, and this combo makes the F8 a formidable force. If one is a true SC fighter i say buy it you wont regret it, whats damn 300 bucks anyway, its only damn money. LOL made the purchase in the dark of the night when the wife was asleep to be sure just in case she disagrees.

Had the gladious pirate for so long now, finally upgraded to the Zeus Mk II, so for now I get to try the A1 spirit as well. But I found I enjoy the nimble flight, combat oriented style more for my daily driver. Luckily I found a few gold tickets so I'll be picking this up on payday!

I never saw one of those platinum ticket missions pop over the entire event. I'm glad I just bit the bullet and got the ship through the gold ticket. I was always going to try and get it. I always love the design.

Great video overall, I think throwing the Super Hornet in the comparison was just to bully it lol. But compared to only the Heavy Fighters, i.e. the Vanguard, Hurricane and Scorpius, the F8C certainly does outperform, but honestly, I don't think it's *too* powerful that any incoming nerfs will be significant. The QT/Hydrogen fuel is surprisingly plentiful, so that's one area that can be adjusted (either tone it down, or bring the Hurricane and Scorpius closer to its level, but not matching it). The max speed, I'm on the fence about, if you're creating the "best" fighter in lore, I believe speed would be a core trait that it must have, but you also don't want it to outstrip *everything* , however I think the SCM speed is fine. Finally, while it has a lot of weapon firepower, the Vanguard and Scorpius can carry more missiles, and the Scorpius, though it needs 2 players, can carry up to 8 size 3 guns, 4 of which are on the gunner's turret which means more firepower and more coverage, say if you were trying to disengage, you can keep going forward while shooting back with half of your total firepower. Overall, F8C is clearly top-of-the-line, but in my opinion, not overpowered. So here's me hoping they don't nerf my new baby.

Bought a Superhornet many years ago, with the promise "its the closest to military spec that you can get as a civilian". I love the big "go fuck yourself" in my face, as an early backer and multiple ship owner.

I asked the question to the developers on livestream. Ich can try to argue what ever you want, they broke a promise and made the ships not refundable. Also try to argue how a civilian ships is more suted than "the closest" civilian fighter to military specs.

@@IdoubleZA you're right and wrong, it's bullshit they're leaving early ships behind and screwing over early backers but the game is 10 years on since I backed it and shit changes every year both in scope and cost, so it's naive to think the superhornet would never be bettered

I too wonder if/when the F8C will get nerfed, but it is supposed to be a highly formidable and the prized ship fighter. For that alone is what makes me think while it might have a small decrease in stats in the next 2-3 months, I think it'll still be one of the top dog fighting ships when used to its strengths which it has multiple.

@@cornervillain838 Their has and always will be a rebalancing as new craft enter the concept, just buy whatever suits my current need, and adjust. Melting is your friend, with the concept continually changing so should you adapt, a decent pilot is what makes the difference, not so much the ship. Don't be constrained by being scared...do it.

Thank You as Always for the video STL. I feel like they continue to do the Vanguard dirty. My first & forever favorite ship that caused me to buy into the game and spend further copious amounts of money.

You can run a VK-00 Quantum drive, it has big enough fuel tanks that you don't need to use an Atlas. As another notes most small fighters are better with a Voyage quantum drive than an Atlas.

I was planning on getting a Sabre Comet again at IAE. Figured this was worth the extra

I just threw down my first big purchase on this bad boy. The store gave me a warning about it being a pledge only ship and I'm currently updating my client so I really hope it'll be in the ASOP when I log in. I loved flying it for the day when I got my ticket and I only have an Aurora MR starter ship so this is a huge upgrade. I know I could get it playing SQ42 BUT.. after this weekend & seeing how well the game is coming along I thought I'd support the project with a meaningful pedge aside from the £40 starter price. I then intend to melt my Aurora and put that towards a Cutty black which I'll buy during IAE, assuming it's on sale.

I kind of want one. One day hopefully

from what i heard on stream etc, the fly moddel isn t the final one yet ( not using the new mode) so it will change in a way or another. stilll very cool looking ship... i do wonder about the repair cost

They said you should be able to acquire one after squadron, but they used something akin to the word acquire, so not sure if they will give it, or let us purchase one with in game money or real money

Still have to think about it till November 7. To get it or not. Even after 2-3 nerfs it should still be better than a LOT of ship's since it was pitched like that. Its basically " ultimate" fighter ship. If you bought it, you no longer have to get any other fighter....ever.

I got a F8C and parked it with all of my other fighters, except for my P-52 and Warden at MIC-L1, ready for the next Xenothreat. ;-)

Yup, got 4-5 spare tickets. Not like CIG would make it hard to give them money.

The Vanguard does have an advantage the F8 does not. If you lose a wing on the F8, you lose weapons and thrusters, and you start tumbling. The Vanguard can lose both its wings and the rear fins and not have its performance degraded by much.

The moment I first saw this ship I had to have it. I would own it even if it was the worst fighter. In my opinion it’s the best-looking ship in the game.

Only real downside I have seen is the guns on the wings that get shot off fairly easily. Still if you lose a wing you still have 6 guns left. Fun and cool looking ship.

Really the only reason to buy a ship is the current gameplay loops it allows you to play or makes easier right now. If you are speculating on future uses of ship maybe build a CCU chain but I wouldn't be applying those.

Nope. 6 month with store credit or warbond with LTI. It’s a premium ship in CIG’s eyes so it’s got no CCU’s and this is probably the only time you can get it with LTI. Unless you spend 10k 😂

I thought the stats on the f8c would be comparable but overall somewhat better than the f7c, to reflect incremental change in technology and evolving naval requirements. I did not expect it to shit all over other ships in a similar role. That's messed up. I hope it gets nerfed hard.

I bought the new cutter scout with lti for this reason also got a fury LX with lti for this reason. But I've heard you can not upgrade the f8c you can melt it and buy back later

If you have 300$ to burn/pledge, and you plan on doing any combat, yes. If not, no.

Why are there still people saying it needs nerfing... What actually needs to happen is light and medium fighters need a buff and other heavy fighters need a relook Because ask yourself this what can actually be nerfed in it? Its manuverability that means pitch, roll, yaw are already as low as they can go while still being able to call it a fighter You cant nerf the guns or any of its components because it aint an ares with a bespoke gun it has off-the-shelf parts You could slow down its acceleration but then what is the point of it have 3 main engines covering most of the back of the ship Its weapon capacitor is already piss poor so cant touch that Seriously what is there to nerf without making it 1) not a fighter 2) not a next generation SUPERIORITY ship

I will also add that if anything it needs a buff to the wing and cockpit protectors as it just takes 3 size 1 missiles and you cut it down to 2 size 2 weapons Seriously a size 1 missile will pop off a wing or even both cockpit protectors a size 1 and at FULL shields

It won’t see a nerf. Maybe some behavior adjustments but it looks like all ships will get that pass considering what we saw at citcon. The f8 already flys like an F14… to quote a tomcat pilot directly “it flys pretty good for a big girl” (from a aviation podcast from the launch of the new top gun) bunch of navy pilot guys. Anyway I’m off in the weeds. With this being a squadron 42 ship I think they got it more inline with their expectations than let’s say the ion and inferno. The ion and inferno nerf is on everyone’s mind still it seems.

I thought this ship would never be for sale. Eventually they'll sell a Bengal or a Kingship lol

Does it need to be balanced? It's supposed to be the state-of-the-art space superiority fighter, right? Shouldn't an F-22 outperform an F-18? Nothing wrong with that. I'm confident I could pick one apart in any light fighter anyways, so yeah...

It needs some tweaks and the shield type fixed. It’s strong, but not invincible. It also loses weapons quickly, which sucks, but makes sense. The ship does its job, and I love mine. The second most common complaint I’ve heard is that it can’t be purchased in-game, so that makes it “P2W.” Even though it can be killed by a good pilot in a Fury or even a Razor…

A lot of this nerf talk is going to come down to pilot skill and whether or not a ship is performing to it's expected role. The Ares' nerf was due to just how good it was at fighting both small and large ships which wasn't what it was meant to do. Now up until recently the solution to that problem from CIG resulted in the Ares having a hard time with taking out targets in its intended role. But the F8C is performing the way it was designed. It's an anti-fighter ship. On top of that pilot skill plays a big role as to how successful it is. That ship is outcompeting anything above its weight, which doesnt make any sense. they are just baiting in the two neuroned whales like this youtuber and his peers to keep funding the game(which i dont mind at all) with high stats that have a BIG FAT disclaimer of not representing the final product. if this ship will stay the same and will be only purchasable with money, this will be a purely p2w game and people wont play it.
