I loved the quiet and peaceful flying in the intro of the video. Very underrated start to a ship overview. Most youtubers blast their commentary or their personalized intros and it pierces my eardrums. Kudos on the unique video!

I have this ship but hadn't used it much. I got it for the storage so I can run bunkers and delivery missions. I didn't know you could add additional guns to it. I'll have to do that and give it some attention. Thanks for the video!!

100% agree. I often sugest Aurora LN starters just because you can get those even further discounted durring stuff like foundation fest and IAE with some extra paints, and having a bed is nice, but overall, 100% agree with your reasons why this is the best starter in the verse.

Quick note that you can rent this ship in-game at Orison (just down from the hangar elevators, don't need to leave the platform) for less than 6k aUEC. Dirt cheap. It's actually a fun little ship & I kind of wish I had started with this instead of the outdated 100i that I bought in with.

I got this ship as my starter ship. I like the mini cargo bay, good for delivery missions. Give it a shot with those gimbal mounted guns on the wings. Learning to fly better with VKB joysticks.

Sometimes I'm flying around with my Mustang Beta and I highly recommend that ship to people who just enjoy flying. Probably the best cockpit to enjoy space/planet surfaces. It can fly for hours thanks to massive hydrogen tanks and has a tiny house inside with bed, kitchen & bathroom. The Alpha is still better as a starter ship due to the storage capacity ... I'd say the Mustang is an often overlooked series in general. Very nice video by the way, especially that cozy intro.

Yeah, rocket pods are nothing so special that only the Delta could fit them. If they're so concerned about the Delta becoming less attractive of a purchase if the Alpha can carry the same arsenal, just reduce its normal EM and IR signature or further improve its maneuverability. The main disadvantage against the Aurora isn't the bed, but that the Mustang is more easily detected and locked on which can be a problem if you try to use it for higher risk combat than going against some loser thinking they can harass the local traffic on a Pisces, it would only make sense as a manufaturer to give their ship the full military-grade makeover over just the hull.

S1 QD is the ATLAS for anything starter.... unless you have a cutter and the fuel to spare to use a VK-00 I Had a Mustang Beta, its nice, but upgraded it to the 315P for the cargo and the upcoming tractor beam function, also it looks MUCH better. Maybe ill get an Alpha if a discounted pack apears for the Game Package NPC function

Got the discounted IAE Mustang as my first ship, and as much as the bugged out cargo pod frustrates my attempts at delivery missions*, it is easily my favorite ship to tool around in. Fast, nimble, and with an excellent view, I absolutely love it. Zero regrets *If your packages don't go follow the cargo pod whenever you retract it, one solution is to put them in the pod, and then take off without retracting it. Boxes should remain in place until you lower the cargo pod again, and then you'll just have to pick them up and reset them.

Well it was fixed for awhile, it's one of those things that gets messed up every other patch. I do love the mustang and easily for the price the best ship. Congrats on it!!

Like you i got this Mustang in IAE some days ago. And happy about it... Nice ship with great manoeuvrability and joy to pilot. To overcome the delivery missions problem, i just bought in-game an aurora es (124k) the cheapest one. But you can also simply rent it for 2.5 k a day.

By the way i tested delivery and probe deployment with 3.22 in the mustang cargo and seems to work well. But i think you need to have inventory empty because it didn't worked when it was filled with some inventory.

@@Bombastic0013 thanks for the heads up. I’ve been hanging with my folks all weekend, so I haven’t had a chance to download, let alone play 3.22 yet. Can’t wait to have some more adventures in my Mustang.

This is the ship I would have started with if the Cutter hadn't been on offer for the same price at the time, and while I definitely don't regret my choice with the Cutter (I love my little ugly space camper van) there are times, particularly in combat missions, when I realise the benefits the Mustang would have given me for certain types of gameplay.

I got this on the recent iae event as my starter. Ive just been doing bounties with it and its been fun. If i stick with star citizen ill get a buccaneer but for now this is more fun than the drake cutter i got to fly on free week

I'd also look at the super hornet, fantastic ship, has all pilot controlled weapons but also has a second seat just in case you need to pick up a fellow citizen 😁

As great as my 325a is for a taxi, I'm still considering one of these in-game just for the super fast insurance time if I somehow find myself stuck somewhere without a ship and I don't wanna wait. With it being something like 250K to buy + QT Drive of choice, it doesn't take long to get. That said, the Pisces can be spawned at surface outposts, if I find myself stranded at one of those for whatever reason.

Flew this ship for the free fly, it was nice for my needs. Still got the Titan lol..but honestly if you want to try out the game and not drop 70 bucks this ship is the way to go imo...it feels like a space ship if that makes sense.

Exactly, best ship for the 45 IMO

i prefer the mustang beta i own a c1 and a zues mkii es now but i to this day own my lti mustang beta well it was a alpha but i paid 10 bucks to make it a beta still my favorite ship in game atm

So if I add parts to my ship and it blows up or crashes. Do I then need to rebuy those parts or is it factored into the insurance cost?

For now in the current game state you get them back when you claim the ship. But from what CIG has said for the future, I believe you will ultimately lose them.....and have to rebuy. The insurance would just cover the stock chassis. 2 cents.

Best cockpit visibility in the game! LRTs? I'm on HRT's and planning on grinding out a bunch of VHRTs with this thing like I did last patch.

no bed logout is a deal breaker, aurora wins for that just by default. this ship was nerfed a long time ago and the bed was removed from it.

The bed missing is not a big problem for me as i usually doesn't log inside missions. I think it is not a big problem with a starter ship.

the only thing i have to say about this ship compared to the aurora is this has no bed so i can't life out my space-going vanlife fantasy

The Reliant Kore is easily the best starting ship. 15 260 hp to the Mustang Alpha's 8431 hp, at least 20% more firepower than the Mustang even before you account for four size two missiles, six scu walk in cargo area which is great for say retrieving bodies in vacuum. Comes with slightly better internal modules too. Comes with fully gimballed weapons from the start. Then to cap it all off it has the cheapest co-op play in Star Citizen, with a co-pilot who can use the turrets which are usually used by the pilot. Oh and the reclaim timer for all this is the exact same as the Mustang Alpha.

Good and accurate info....I have a video coming for that one as well. I'd honestly consider it as a step up from a starter due to all the reasons you listed. Mustang is $45 in a starter package and one of the cheapest you can get. Appreciate the comment! And thanks for the info!
