From what I understand the "holo-mfds" will be customizable on all ships soon, so I wouldn't worry about that.

All ships will be standardised to have context dependent MFDs. This was discussed in depth during the last CitCon. Any new ship that has two MFDs is designed with this in mind.

@rooster1012 because I don't look at news. I'd rather find things out through gameplay. Going into things blind is the best way to go and keeps the disappointment low if your not hyping things up. And I'm not just an SC channel

I had a spare ball turret in my hangar and yeah, feel the same way. It "fits" and it works, but it doesn't look right at all. It sits too high. The lack of MFDs feels weird if only because of how many the standard Hornet has. Overall though, it is a slick little ship though. It'll be better after that F7A upgrade.

You want it to sit as high as it can, because that gives it downward clearance to shoot over the tail. I would test against the old hornet heights, but if my assumption is correct you will have better firing angles all around.

I wanted to like the Mk1 hornet but it was just too box-y for me. I'm glad that I can finally experience a hornet but in a not so ugly fuselage lol. Plus those 3 size 4 hard points are super fun

The blue is gorgeous.

I don't mind it flying like the regular Hornet tbh. For me the esthetics alone with the smoother hull is enough for me as I am a huge Hornet fan as my first pledge was a hornet waaay back when. The size 4's is an added bonus and yes, the color is horrendous so I got he black paint for it. I am also fine with two MFD's as like others have said, we will get them in our helmets. I also only use two at any given time, my status and enemy status.

I have wanted a hornet visual upgrade for ages. Happy to see it looks much sleeker now instead of anime boxy.

I love the Hornets and I am excited for the "A" variant from this ship after completing the event. I actually like the blue. Reminds me of the Russian SU-34 blue color.

Just in case anyone is curious it does fit in an 890 hanger quite well.

I just did the first set of missions with 2 buddies, was pretty fun. I’m loving it so far but I’m definitely going for the F7A MK2. Just a heads up though those missions pretty much require at least 2 people and 3 is optimal.

I have a feeling that once maelstrom comes to the game, the larger weapon slots paired with ballistics will be devastate hostile fighters, especially on the A variant

"What was that?!" Definitely experienced that pucker factor, too. It has a strong tendency to pitch uncontrollably (up or down) when strafing sideways above a moderate speed in atmo (Cellin at the time, so not a thick atmo).

Hey OneNutSupreme, what do you think is better (assuming its gonna get nerfed), the sabre or this if I only have room for one medium fighter to choose from in my fleet? I have the Sabre and the lightening. I feel like it would be redundant to have a F7C MK2 and a lightening, but I don't wanna Fomo if its not worth it.

I thought the same thing. But since I've been using the sabre more as its intended role as a stealth fighter, I justified it pretty quickly. Mk2 as a brawler and head to head dogfighting. Sabre for sneaking up on my enemy. Lightning for longer/group fights

The military upgrade you get for completing the event is probably going to be a little better than the lightning. That way they can sell more of these right now.

do you still have any mk1 hornets with the upgraded turrets you salvaged awhile back attached to them to put on this thing? Someone said CIG locked us out of being able to do the Echart mission and taking them off now that they are tryin to sell MK2's and get ppl to run the Overdrive mission to get those turrets. But ppl who already had tossed turrets on ships in hanger b4 hand are able to put them on the MK2. Im looking for someone who can spawn in a ship with them so i can do mine as well to see if its worth going through the hassle for the token. sooooooo many crashes and 30ks just to finally finish the first set of 5 and im kinda over it already. but im willing to keep going if the turret is actually even worth it

Yeah I love it, but agree totally about the Turret, but after seeing your vid I was thinking it has to be high up cos if the bullets follow the Barrell and comes from the end of the guns it needs the clearance for the canopy. It could only go down a little without clipping, Iay be wrong but it looked like it from afar like wathcing you fly it

do you use joysticks or you have mouse/keyboard? your cross is not chasing your mouse on screen..

F8C owner here, waiting for the upgrade to the F8A.

The reason for only two MFDs is due to the updated HUDs coming up. I have no idea when we will get them. Having said that, I love that blue, it reminds me of the air superiority blue the F-15s were originally painted in. But the best paint is the gray and bronze one. I put Attritions on for that paint scheme. For the ice borne paint I'll be loading it up with NDBs. Also, I completely agree on the ball turret. It needs a lower profile. But this is my favorite ship, aesthetically speaking.

Is this purchasable only for now? Have they made any announcements about that?

The F7C Mk II having an uncluttered cockpit with just two MFDs is the reason I'm considering an upgrade from the Mk I which I never fly because the cockpit is so cluttered... Interesting difference in outlook, wouldn't you agree?

Definitely, I like the uncluttered look. I do wish the top 2 mfds were there or the 2 of the side mfds I just like having a little more information to look at as needed

You can use the both the dual size 1 nose turret and the dual size 2 ball turret from the Super Hornet and install them on the Mk II. Combine that with the Size 4's on the wings and it's a bit of a beast.

As of today you can still use the Eckhart size 2 nose turrets too. The ball turret from that mission no longer fits on any hornet though

I always wonder if CIG’s scale is intentional, even their small ships specifically meant to be really small are massive compared to real life jet planes.

Honestly when you compare the size of this to an actual FA 18 hornet, You're not that far off. The real big hit is that you can't fold wings in game.

now that the arrow has holo mfds i wish they cut the top 2 mfds off the dash and give me more glass to look through. I think I'd prefer only 2 dash screen mfds in pretty much everything.

They finally updated Erkul and it shows the Rhino's at 255 dps.. It is 374 for one, then drops to 255 each when you add the second...so something is broken. I went out with just the two and it was a fight to take out one light NPC. I bugged it. I put on gimbals and panthers and they were 301 for the first one and 234 each with two. Of course the AD4B's are the only way to go right now. Add a S3 ballistic cannon on the nose and you get 3358 DPS!!!

The MFD amount doesnt matter when you are using a flightsuit with appropriate helmet (which, granted, isnt implemented in the game yet).

if you do the event you get a free upgrade to the F7A the military version

​@@za_snake4085the event is on for a while but you must complete each stage (there are multiple sub stages) when they come up.

I put a ball turret and the nose turret on it, dropped (2) Deadbolts on the wings, (2) Greatswords on the ball turret, and (2) Longswords on the nose. Put FR-66 shield generators in it, and she can pack a punch and take a punch.

Is it worth upgrading to this from the Sabre, or wait for Master Modes and Sabre MkII?

Idk yet. This video is all the experience I have with it, so I'm not jumping to any conclusions, just yet.

Someone told me to consider an upgrade between a new ship at 350 bucks or some good sticks at the same price. The benefit of some awesome flight sticks is the hands down option. Get some good flight sticks to fly with first.

Thats also why i hate open PvP. because then i have even less chance to survive if i dont minmax against those sweaty boys with the overblown egos. Not that they ever pick fair fights anyways ;D. I like this Hornet much more then then old one. Looks much smoother.

@honoryhonra that's just my preference. I like having the dual revanents for the size 4 ballistics damage plus 1400 m/s projectile velocity against fighters. And running 2 size 2 lasers, and 2 size 1 lasers still leaves me with enough dps to kill light fighters if I run out of revanent ammo

Yeah I'm wondering how the capacitors would look with 3xS4 and nothing or a ballistic on the nose

I ran a loadout with 3 s4 repeaters and 1 s3 repeater and I think it was 22 for the s4s and 23 for the s3 if I remember correctly.

Atmospheric flight is bugged. And I'm pretty sure that turret is not seated properly

2 MFDs is the new standard. Every ship will just have 2, or be reduced to two... annoying as well. But thats CIG

I'd rather have the situational awareness than a huge part of the cockpick taken up by additional MFDs. Other fighters have two MFDs and it's fine. Just gotta prioritize.

Narratively, they are about fighting off scouting teams that are preparing the way for a Xenothreat attack. If you complete all of the missions before Invictus, you get a free upgrade token for the F7A Mk II (to be applied to the F7C Mk II).

That's a beautiful blue paint job.

A Hornet with bigger guns isn't a bad recommendation from where I sit.

Yeah it lacks MFD's. Drive me crazy too.

Given the fact it takes standard hornet turrets, it should also take the murder hornet parts 🤔🤔

The performance in atmo is a big no for me. Im a Hornet guy too.

I’m not a fan yet. The looks are great, if you don’t count the ball turrets. That needs a redesign or it possibly needs to be lower in the chassis. The two mfd’s are meh, but we will get holo-stuff soon(™), or not. The QT range seems to be the same as the normal Hornet. It is very nose-divey… Really don’t like that aspect and I’m presuming it is a bug. The nose gun/turret clips into the nose gear, wtf? Didn’t they check that? It’s just as non-gold standard as the F8C is. So, yeah… don’t think it flies great atm. Flew the F8C back to back with this and that one feels so much smoother. Heck, the Bucc flies better imho. Looks are important, but how it flies even more so. For light/medium fighters I already own the F8C, the Arrow, Bucc and 325a… while I like the looks of this Hornet and the prospect of three S4 hardpoints sounds like fun, it isn’t really a real addition to my fleet of 14 ships. The turrets we currently have are designed for the Hornet Mk 1. There actually *are* turrets designed for the Mk II. You can see them on the Hornet M7A Mk II fighters in the opening scene of the Squadron 42 video that we saw at Citizencon. They'll probably get added to the PU during Invictus; since, that is when we'll get the upgrades to the F7A Mk II.

@@randlebrowne2048Yeah, that would explain the better turret looks of some footage. Apparently they can’t give us the new turrets before the F7A is in game. I’ve also heard those upgrades likely won’t be buyable in game like the current ball turret. As I understand it, the F7A upgrade will be an in-hanger (outside the game) upgrade token you only can earn one time. This means if you don’t complete the Overdrive missions, you won’t be able to get the appropriate turret for your F7C. As I don’t really do bunkers and play solo most of the time, it will be difficult for me to get the F7A upgrades. This thing looks too ugly with the old turrets imho. So I think I’ll better give up on this. It’s just too much marketing bs atm.

I upgraded my Hornet F7C to this MK2 for $50, which is not cheap since AAA games alone are around $50, so I can not fathom how this Star Citizen gets away with charging $50 for ships that are not even that special, and ffs it's not worth almost $200! The thing could have Size 7 guns all over it and I'd still be like you want HOW much REAL money for it?

Not sure why you keep moaning about eh MFD's I manage with two on the Scorpius in PvP with no issue. You only need targeting and shields up on a fighter. Power triangle should be mapped to your stick and always switch boost at 100% for each. Easy to remember where they sit on the triangle.

@@OneNutSupremeAt least two of the purchasable skins for it look pretty good though. Concierge get access to a dark grey/black with bronze/copper detailing. There is also a desert camo one and one that is white with blue accents (like the Super Hornet).

LMAO f8 lightnings are not dominate. Maybe by noobs fighting noobs. But that's not how you rank ships.

Grade things on average players. And with that in mind, the f8c is dominate vs other ships.
