Yes one of chillest and down to earth SC youtubers in my opinion and it's a pleasure to watch, unlike some of the many overzealous SC youtubers (you know their names and their nausea-inducing-ever-positive attitude with everything Star Citizen).

Nice initial review/preview. Corsair may not be my cup of tea, but it does further define Drake’s style guide. Funniest thing about the Corsair that no one seems to be talking or complaining about is it’s complete absence of any “real” exploration gear, stations or purpose. Not even a half-hearted attempt to hide the fact that this ship is really only equipped to “explore” the contents of other people’s ships after first killing them.

This was my thought. I feel a comparison is more apt to the Andromeda or Redeemer than the Aquila which is an actual exploration ship (or should be when the game loops are in)

@@mattduncan3304 its an explorer in that its designed to be long range and such. The 400i, corsair and to some extend the freelancer dur and the aquila are imo explorers in a sense they are long range, and hella multirole

@@iharpo9292 I agree with the others, but not the Corsair. At best I'd say the big fuel tank and cargo makes it a freighter, but mostly I'd say it's a gun ship. it's just a big Cutty. Mostly I'm disappointed that it doesn't feel as Drake as it should. The internal design does, but the fancy wing thing doesn't feel like them. It's form over function.

I just love how CIG is so attentive to detail and are maturing with every new ship they push out. It's small but the details with all the buttons, elevator switches, etc. add such a nice touch to what is to come to all our ships in the future.

The ships are defintely getting better over time. They just feel more 'real'.

The main thing this explorer ship will be exploring is the cargo holds of other ships.

I love this little fan on the dashboard, combined with copilot position it's really gives it a feel of old Soviet cargo/bomber aircraft

I haven't even logged into the game yet to test my corsair. Seen some images but was always waiting for your vid to get a good look

As for what fits, it does fit a Pisces. It’s not happy since the back gear sits on the ramp, and the folded wings touch both sides. But the ramp can close and you can fly in quantum with it. It’s not something I would do on a regular basis though since it is slightly compressed in flight. Haven’t tested other ships yet.

First thing I did with the Corsair. Was removed the gimbals for hard points. Result. 4 x size 5 and 2 X size 4 controlled by the pilot. And I loved it

@@timsgta yep. To each their own. With a ship like the Corsair I would want to use it for one thing only. To make money. I’m not gonna be PvP ing it up. Because it doesn’t pay (and I’m useless at it) nor am I going to be doing LRT’s my main. Drive is ERT’s and High services beacons. Where I’m mostly fighting Hammerheads, Star farers, Reclaimers, caterpillars and Connie’s. Where this ship is just perfect with fixed. If I really want to fight off the small fighters I’ll just get someone in the turrets. Theirs always someone in chat that’s looking for money.

enjoyed it. always glad to see when you've posted a new one. Was ready to buy the Corsair until I learned no chili would be allowed; thanks for pointing that out.

Of course we want an if it sits it fits video. I'd watch one for the 300 series just to see you try and cram a greycat buggy underneath it.

As usual for a Drake Interplanetary design (and as several viewers have already pointed out) the official description of the ship comes with a generous amount of "wink, wink, nudge, nudge!". It's an explorer the same way a longship full of norsemen is engaged in trading. That said, as a general-purpose platform for a small crew of players, the Corsair may be the best fit of any ship in it's size. In terms of crew, until computer blades are implemented soloing in a Corsair is going to be problematic. The remote turret aft is IMO the most vital of the three turrets. Once blades are implemented it can be automated and solo operation becomes a lot safer. For now the ship is basically multicrew-obligatory. On the guns, the sheer quantity and size of the guns makes me wonder about power supply. Afaik the Corsair has two S2 power plants. I haven't been back in-game for a while, but is it possible to mount guns smaller than S4 on the forward gimbals? That might mitigate energy starvation issues while giving the pilot a uniform battery of six S3 guns to use (which is still going to hurt a lot, while also giving everything the same effective range). Alternatively, dismount the wing guns and focus on the four forward mounts, or run something specialized on the wings that normally isn't cut into the firing circuit.

She won’t be winning any beauty contests anytime soon, but she is solid. Ship like this, be with you ’til the day you die.

I took the bedroom in the cockpit as a place where pilots can swap out. One sleeps while one flies for the long haul trips.

TBH they could give a bit more love to the Capitan quarter. Its smaller than rest and could use a MFD or a basic screen. Your review, as usuall, awesome!

I love all of the button and lever controls on this ship. The displays and mfds are nice and all, but it's just not the same. But as others have noted, landing this thing on uneven terrain is going to be a pain in the keister. You're pretty much better off hovering just above the ground and telling people to learn how to jump good, or find another spot.

I wonder if there will be ways to modify the ship interior in the future. Like, fix/move the random monitor laying on the floor, add wall panels, improve lighting. Like, I get that Drake is bare bones but will we have any ability to refine it into a more finished product?

Beautiful ship and I think I do prefer it to the Connie series, the only reason I don't fly the Corsair is because it's maneuvering thrusters are made of paper. Once you start taking hull damage in combat you are at extreme high risk of losing all maneuverability and becoming a sitting duck.

Seeing how low it is when landed, it'll difficult to land in the wild. Your videos and your voice are so peaceful. Really enjoyable to listen to. There is only one tiny little thing that make the image uncomfortable. Maybe it's on my side. The image seems to have an artefact, some images (when you pause) contains itself and a shadow of the previous one. The video feels heavy, looks laged to me.

Atmo flight seems to be a HUGE sticking point since so many bounties are in-atmo now....

whats the tune during the tour?

This ship should have the sliders for atmospheric handling turned considerably UP. It has a lot of wing area. I’ll concede that you would lose that control authority in space to where it currently sits in that realm. But with all this ship’s quirkiness, the night and day handling should line up perfectly with its weird looks.

The Corsair is the only ship released so far that does what it is supposed to do.. Aggressive "Exploration"

Great video as always. The style of the ship is growing on me. Some of my cons of this ship are the low clearance on the landing gear, handling in the atmosphere, no rear-facing gun, and the bottleneck that the engineering station creates in the center of the ship. The pros are the number/size of the guns, the elevator's ability to go ground floor/top deck, and the ability to control the lighting in every room. I wish CIG would settle on giving pilots the ability to control guns. Why can't the carrack pilot use the guns when the Corsair pilot can? The answer has been it is a multi-crew ship. Does that make any sense with the Corsair? I wonder if the guns will get nerfed as they seem pretty powerful at the moment and the turrets can be aimed forward.

Damn where can I buy it ? Is it available as a starter ?

i need to see your cutter first impressions. Like i’m holding off watching any content on it until you upload yours.

The Great Corsair Chili Cook off.

I think I found my ship...at least on paper. I wish I didn't miss Day 1 to snag the Corsair for 48 hours. Or is it still there? I gotta reinstall the game!!

Did you or has anyone else had issues flying their ship out from Orison? As soon as I take off from a hanger with the Corsair, she loses control to the stick and throttle and begins falling into the gas giant. I've been unable to leave orbit, and no amount of power-cycling the ship allows it to recover.

@@lawofthewestgaming, cool, at least I'm not the only one experiencing this issue. Otherwise, I may have an issue with the asymmetric aspect of the Corsair, but she's very visually and esthetically appealing on the inside.

I tried this ship with 4 people inside, I can say this with knowledge: It's Cramped inside. Like, really cramped. If people are walking around the ship at the same time, you just can't move. 😞 It's just too restrictive, if everyone is sit, it gets easier, but yeah, you need to coordinate it. xD

Getting to finally see the Corsair, it's painfully obvious that the Constellation series needs an overhaul. It just doesn't hold up to this level of design. I would also say the same thing about the Freelancer series, but it's not directly comparable.

The Corsair needs an entire inferior rework , The biggest Corsair looks like a ship you could actually live on , The Connie's are just yuk when it comes to interior layout.

Everytime I see this ship I see the misc freelancer from the original trailer for it. This is what the misc freelancer should of been but with less forward facing weapons.

One quick correction with all due respect: That central components room does NOT contain “all the components”. The rear cargo deck contains the shield generator and two other components. Making the job of the technician more interesting if you have cargo.
