I was all jealous of Miami getting teams in the NHL and NBA finals at the same time...but to then have them BOTH lose within 24-hours of each other, both in game 5s...well that sure took the shine off that jealousy real quick!

Best ! Stanley Cup clinching game .... ever !!!! as far as I'm concerned. Proof that team cohesiveness, pressure, small parts of the game and staying out of the penalty box are the keys to bring home that wonderful trophy. Best of luck next season... would love to see a repeat.

The Knights were one overtime goal away from a sweep. This was definitely their statement game to make up for that one loss. They were the better team by a long shot. In fact, the Oilers and the Stars were tougher competition than the Panthers. These playoffs showed that the Pacific Division is certainly much stronger than the credit it gets, especially from that Eastern ego echo chamber on the HF Boards. Nice to see how many of their posts aged so poorly.

as a panther fan, i don’t know what happened. The panthers beat the bruins in game seven in there building. Then we beat the maple leafs, and then we swept the hurricanes. We were looking so good until this series. They made us look like a minor league hockey team. Absolutely embarrassing. how the hell do you lose 9 to 3 in the stanley cup final. At that point they don’t even deserve to win. Good for the VGK

Honestly, I think the Oilers vs. VGK series was pretty much the early finals, it was the hardest series by far, especially with that terrifying PP. I really think they were the two best teams this year

There is a myth that the Eastern Conference is much stronger, but I think 2 cups in a row speak louder than all the talk. There is another myth that the Pacific Division is really weak, but you couldn’t tell that by the way that the Knights, Oilers, Kraken and Kings played. The Flames had a bad year, but that was a really strong team to finish 5’th in the Division. I couldn’t be happier for the Knights. They could not have represented Vegas, the Pacific Division and the Western Conference any better!!

Congrats to Vegas, it didn't take them long since their team's creation which is impressive, Panthers looked terrible this series but that's just because Vegas were outstanding. Panthers had a great run this year though, they can be proud of that!

Panthers got banged up, Vegas had 4 lines rolling and a hot goaltender.

@@archimedes2261 I think also Colin White played for Panthers. However, the level of trades aren’t the same. Mark is the captain of Knights and one of a kind. When looking at the rosters I felt that it was a huge mismatch between teams. The depth and strength of Knights lines is impressive.

As a clueless european I didn't even know the Golden Knights existed (okay founded in 2017, thanks wikipedia) but must be one of the shortest paths to glory from an expansion team in the 21st century, no? congrats.

Oh by far, panthers were hard carried to the finals by a hot goalie but he clearly cooled off before the finals and the team went back to being a very mid team very quickly. Easy win for most teams.

The issue really was the panthers defense was non existent through the entire series bob kept them in and it cost them dearly their is only so much you can do and it’s exactly like the guy above said they just ran outta juice not to mention bob was getting completely mauled by pucks

After all those long years, Eichel winning the cup in his first ever playoff appearance is the most heartwarming feeling ever. Congrats Jack, you 100% deserve it!

I notice, because of the phones and people recording, the crowd doesn’t go crazy at the end when they win. Back in the day every person in the building would have both arms straight up in the air, pumping their fists, jumping up and down. They wouldn’t be trying to capture a moment with a steady camera and ultimately missing a moment. Granted this game was over long before the final horn.

Times they are a changin. It’s true though. By capturing the moment on camera you’re not as present to being in the moment. I’m happy for Vegas. This was their 2’nd trip to the cup, their first win and boy, did they make a statement. This series was entertaining because Florida fought like the devil, but it wasn’t a close series. If not for a single overtime goal, this was a sweep. A statement win for Vegas, the Pacific Division and the Western Conference. That’s two cups in a row for the West.

Vegas deserved to win the cup with a combination of excellent offense, defense, and goaltending. They out scored their opponents through the entire playoffs 88 - 57 losing only 6 games total.

I am glad the golden knights have won the Stanley Cup! They are now one of my favorite hockey players of all time first time lol

I guess at the end of the day, doesn't matter how strong someone is, you can only hold the weight of a team for so long. Vegas outplayed them entirely but even if they didn't, their players at least helped their goalie out lol.

Total humiliation to see the Panthers lose this way. Vegas is such a strong team in all the ways. They deserve it. I wish Tkachuk a good recovery of his injury. He is a real leader and without him Panthers are no Stanley Cup contenders.

Bob made 585 saves, he is the only one who crossed the number 500. he did everything in his power, brought the Panthers to the finals.

On that first goal by Stone, I swear Verhaeghe barely tried getting back to engage. It was such a pathetic back check effort. I knew the game was over right then and there. No heart.

Как только случилась первая атака на вратаря Вегаса, то мне сразу подумалось, что какой-то избыточный мандраж у Флориды. Примечательно, что провокатором выступил Гудаш. Следом случилось необязательное удаление, которое хоть и не реализовал Вегас, но типичное русло контригры Вегаса сразу же подтвердилось. Но посыпалась Флорида именно в тот момент, когда зарвалась в атаке. Кстати, когда в начале трансляции комментаторы весь эфир замусорили: -сенко, - сенко, - мне мерещилось Тарасенко)) Оказывается Денисенко в основной состав Флориды поставили! Гриша - земляк! С почином! Все еще впереди! Второй период выдался еще краше, чем первый. И, все-таки, многие не понимают, какой опыт набрал Вегас с 18-го года. Они свою «пятилетку» завершили достойно! А их пружина ведь настолько убийственна стала, что с ними пребывать в иллюзии, что у тебя есть игровое преимущество, - нельзя! Поймали соперника на смене при дальней скамейке при третьем забитом, следом задавили активностью в чужой зоне так, что не дали травмированному и потерявшему клюшку Белому) свалить на смену, и, по сути, разыграли большинство… Инстинкт убийцы! В этот момент игра была сделана уже бесповоротно. Пишу эти слова, чтобы было ясно, по ходу второго периода.. Флорида, конечно, была любима именно как lucky loser, но Вегас изначально был достоин этой вершины! Спасибо всем за яркую игру! Как тут не вспомнить тот факт, что игровые контракты в НХЛ - это про игры сезона! Кубок - это именно спортивное достижение! «Заслуженного мастера спорта» и в Советское время давали только за победу!

Да Денисенко в состав взяли, который последний раз в феврале играл за Флориду и в плей офф АХЛ ни одного очка не набрал, и уже месяц не играл))

@@RomkaRudi только сейчас обратил внимание, что Денисенко на замену Ткачака выпустили... А Ткачак-то по травме выбыл. С такой потерей шансы Флориды на эту игру изначально невысоки были.

not even a chance for Florida, they had life for like 5 minutes in the 2nd and after that i don't think the goal horn stop going off.

The Vegas Golden Knights exposed the Florida Panthers that having a good goalie isn't enough to win the cup. You have to be a GOOD team to and vegas has both.

Vegas didn't expose anything, bob was hot in the 2nd and 3rd rounds getting the panthers past 2 teams that shouldn't have beat, but he very clearly went cold in the finals, didn't take much to beat that team anymore.

@@paulthompson8793 Vegas did and he didn't go "cold" in the finals, the Knights just exploited his weaknesses: delayed shots, bodies in front, and shooting from the blocker side. Plus Adin Hill was the best goalie of the playoffs. Also, an 8th seed isn't going to beat a 5th rank if the team around it isn't good.

YESSS!!!! As a Bruins fan I thank the Golden Knights for that performance! 😂 I've always liked Reilly Smith, happy he gets to hoist the cup! Well earned boys!

Way to go VGK!🎉 They deservdd this. They're so stacked! 4 or 5 guys that have been to the Finals, another 4 or 5 that have won The Cup before. Best goalies this season. You knew they'd win it!

Congrats to the Golden Knights. The fact that they have made the Cup Finals twice in 6 years and managed to win it thr 2nd time is pretty crazy when you consider (no offense) that teams like Vancouver , Buffalo , Winnipeg, Ottawa etc have never won one in 30 or more years. The Panthers deserve some credit for making it this far. They have some good players but no one expected them to get this far. They should be proud they were the Eastern Conference Champions and hopefully they gained more new fans during the run. It was much needed for that franchise to make a playoff push since the last one was all the way back in 96. It's sad to see guys like Barkov , Bobrovsky etc have to be on the losing end but unfortunately someone has to. I'd say the real loser of the playoffs was the Bruins. Getting knocked out in the 1st round after that historic regular season and having your ex coach win a Cup in his first season with his new team is a pretty tough pill to swallow.

Props to vegas blatantly clear that they were the better team, but what a pathetix show from florida i feel so bad for bobrovsky, he did so much for this team at every turn and he was done so dirty

Florida gave it everything they had. They just ran into a much better team. To be honest, the two top teams in this playoffs were the Knights and the Oilers. I think Seattle also showed up big. Could be another new team that surprises everyone.

Yeah they owe bob big time for getting them to the finals, but once he wasn't carrying them the team turned back into the mid team we've seen from them all year.

@@orwellknew9112 They were running into much better teams every round in the playoffs. Boston beat themselves more than Florida beat them. Bob had one of the best goalie performances of modern playoff hockey to allow the Panthers to not just stay in the series but actually beat the Leafs that were largely outplaying the Panthers. Bob then outdid himself against the Hurricanes by giving one of the best goalie performances of all time against a Hurricanes team that was otherwise completely dominating the Panthers. The fact that the Panthers swept that series is one of the greatest statistical flukes of modern sports. The only stretch of goalie play of modern times that statistically outdoes what Bob did against both the Leafs and Hurricanes is how Tim Thomas played for the entire 10-11 season. Bob played better in that stretch than Hellebyuck's best season behind the Jets. Edit: Or any of Price's best seasons behind the Canadians. What Bob did was one of the best stretches of goalie play of all time and it got Florida to the SCF. Goalie performances this good don't happen that often. I think it is a real shame that Bob wasn't able to continue it in the SCF.

Was clear once the finals started bob wasn't hot anymore and the kitties were done, but hey bob got them to the finals, that's not bad for a mid team.

Did they explain why the Vegas second goal counted even though it was scored after the whistle? Not that it mattered anyway, just want to know how they explained it.

Continuation of play. When the whistle went off the puck was loose and it’s motion was heading into the net. Back referee probably told the close referee that it was loose the whole time. They’ve called it that way for a very long time and consistently so. If the puck is loose and hit towards the net when the whistle goes, the whistle doesn’t count as it’s a continuation of a legal play.

Вегас - с заслуженной победой, но и Пантеркам надо отдать должное, они большие молодцы, играли до конца (даже при -4 за 6 минут сняли вратаря и попытались что то изменить).
