Are we not going to acknowledge that this was recorded in 2003 and looks amazing?

Well... just a normal professional camera, we are so spoiled by our smartphones these days... I just looked it up and the first mobile phone with camcorder was brought to the market in 2003 as well 😂

@@Breakbeat90s Yeah, nothing surprising considering that there was a digital camera in 1995 that could produce similar HD footage. And before that, there was also high-quality film-based video which can now be converted to modern digital mediums. Some good examples of high-quality film can be seen in the Beatles' music videos.

If you understand what I'm talking about... Thanks God I found it. Thanks God we have ppl like this. Can't express the happiness of listening it.
Magical, and the grandest acoustic bass player on the planet. When it comes to upright bass players, there's SC and then everybody else. No question, he's the GOAT, and always a joy to hear and watch him perform. Imagine this, he's playing a full-sized acoustic bass like it's a toy. Incredible, whereas when the day comes, his bass should be donated to The Smithsonian Institute for historical significance, for there is, was, and always will be only one SC.
Yep, fell to earth from space in a pod. No human can do that. LMAO WTF did I just watch? Stanley, you will always be the GOAT.
The first time I heard Stanley Clarke (years ago), I was IMPRESSED!
One supremely talented individual.
One of my favourite musical performances. I'll never get bored of watching it.

I started playing electric bass in 1965 when I was 13 and made a career of touring and recording since 1974. I didn't pick up an upright bass until 1999. That said, after seeing Stanley play an upright as well as he plays an electric, it just reconfirms the man's genius and extraordinary ability. He is a true inspiration to any bass player! Cheers

Spot on Bob. I started bass just less than five years after you. I played upright but never as finely as this. Then again, I'm not alone.

One of the supreme virtuosos of the bass, both electric and upright. I once saw him live in London and his solo at that gig actually made cry tears of pure joy.
Stanley has such a distinct sound and approach. I'm such a fan of his electric bass work that I sometimes take for granted the monster he is on upright bass. Killer.

And he's just as articulate on either. The first time I tried to slap an upright I thought I broke my thumb.

I saw Stanley on his 21st birthday in Austin,Texas. George Duke also appeared. I've never been the same after that. Simply amazing! 😀✌
It was a poem, driven on the 150w AC. I can only be happy of those who heard it live. Thanks gods such a man is possible to have among us.

I can’t believe the quality of the video is THIS good! This was 17 years ago!
He's the reason WHY I started to play upright in the first place. He was doing things I didn't THINK upright players can do. Then you got John Pattituchi, Christian McBride, Brian Bromberg, Bunny Brunnel, and not to forget the old timers, Ron Carter, Paul Chambers, Jimmy Garrison, Scott LaFaro, and the rest of the masters of the instrument. Awesome performance!😎

A truly unbelievable artist who has fascinated me for decades.Always puts a huge smile on my face to hear him perform.👏👏👏👏👏👏
Flats on an ebony board through a big hollow body bass violin. Tone is absolutely killer. Sound is all about the fingers and touch. Stanley probably was playing for about forty years in 2003.
Stanley's amazing artistry uplifts all aspects of this recorded performance from close to 20 years ago.
I didn’t even know you could play a bass like that damn! 👏
20 years ago I was his driver at a festival.. he was really friendly
The great stanley clarke! Its an honor.
This is the first instrument I ever played!! Man I wish I knew it could be played in such a melodic manner...Those years of orchestral music really dampened my imagination I see....This shit I'm watching is amazing!!!
the pressure to even handle such an instrument must be intense. The first half was definitely moving too👌😮
The masters can really manipulate the tools and instruments they use just wow amazing.
I can feel his emotions on the bass. Really its a philosophy
Very thankful I was able to see Stanley in concert twice. He is total class
Mr. Stanley is exquisite 🤗👏🏾🤩
Insanely beautiful,,,
Hand Stanley any stringed instrument and he'll master it. So fantastic, thanks for posting.
What a great great great musician !!
this is amazing! Love his style and his musicality
When he started slapping that bass i swear my heart stopped
And that was on his upright, his little Alembic probably gets even more crazy slapping... Stanley Clarke has been one of my favorites since I was learning to play bass back in high school in the 70's. Yeah, he's still got it!
Apparently, when this amazing man has a bass in his hands, the laws of physics are suspended.
RIDICULOUSLY SICK
Stunning, made all the better by the collective wincing of thousands of orchestral bass players...
Clarke is brilliant. My old therapist was also a jazz bassist for over 70 years. Combo performance in Detroit and backing singers. She met Stan Getz, the saxophonist, in a hotel once and I asked her did she Getz anything out of it?
Pinnacle of bass playing
Just remember, Stanley Clarke supplies all your funky needs. 😎
Isn't he perfect! Thank you, Stanley!
I could not believe it was over

Beautiful playing. :)
Shame on me I saw this earlier on You Tube. But I did not appreciate Stanley Clarke playing the upright. I love any musician that can play the upright. This time I guess my mood was different the first time I watched this. I said when it was finished is over. This was wonderful. Thank you Jazz on MV.
Simply undisputed supreme bassist of all...
Amazing
I've been playing bass for 42 years and I can't do that....and sadly, I never will. But I still love to play and will never stop. I can play some Jaco and Stanley Clarke stuff, but no way can I play what he just did on an upright bass like that. Guys like Stanley and Jaco are in the upper echelon.
Masterpiece
Just awesome! One of the best Solos i have ever seen!
"I'll be needing every bass amp manufacturer onstage, and while you're at it, make it two of everything"
