Stanford Amyloid Center: Kevin Anderson's story

In 2006, Kevin Anderson, MD, began to notice some subtle physical changes in his health. He would often ride his bike 12 miles to work, but started to have difficulty with the endurance ride up hills. Even more significant was his almost two-year battle to climb the stairs from the hospital lobby to the operating room where he practiced. After about a year and a half without a diagnosis, in 2008 Dr. Anderson heard the word amyloidosis for the first time.

My late husband ran 10 miles a day for 30 yrs. At 56, he lost his battle with primary systemic amyloidsosis. He couldn't even walk up the driveway anymore. It is good to know some live to tell their stories.
I read you book and I just saw this it is a wonderful story. You are most fortunate that you were able to have a heart transplant I wish it could have been the same for my son who has Amyloidosis and multiple Myeloma. He went through all the various Chemo treatments but unfortunately he didn't respond to any of them He is now at home with me under Hospice care and will die at 40 years old I hope that doctors will be made more aware of the signs and symptoms of this disease so it can be caught in the earlier stages rather than when the patient has become so sick, especially when there is heart involvement
Thank you for your story. My husband just died of cardio amyloidosis. Was diagnosed to late. He is with Jesus, where there is no pain and suffering. Amen!

This is great for this “Dr. patient “, but the reality is that 99% of people will not be getting that call from a colleague (at all or only 1.5 years into illness), “hey, I happen to be working on Amy…”. I am so happy for this man. He has answers and treatment. Unfortunately, most people have my reality, 8 yrs into finding a diagnosis, 20 dr’s, no answers, pain & suffering, and more. I can’t walk and I’m going blind. I didn’t know American medicine was so b… 😮”!

I was suffered from Amyloidosis, it may affect heart, kidneys, liver or other organs. I used various medicines but got no relief. Then I used the Amyloidosis Care Pack of Planet Ayurveda and got relief from Amyloidosis.
