Hi Martin i used too live just around the corner from Ike Issacs and met him once as a 16 year old self teaching guitarist My mum remembered my late trumpet playing dad had been in either Oscar Rabin and Joe Loss big bands and had gigged together So i got an introduction to him Needless to say he was very encouraging and although leszon were never discused hr gave me a fee tips This was about 1967 ish and i still have a song book of his which i must dig out Although i got lost in Chicargo blues i had lost of sheet music including a Jobim song book the cords blew my mind and we kept my dads vynal LPs for years until .our mum died in 2020 loads of Mel Torme sinatra Ella Fitgerald early Miles Tony Bennet Gerry Mulligan with Chet Baker etc all the modern classics as you describe them I missed you in Thurso in 2008 ? Millbank Theatre ? But i look out for your appearances im near Inverness and still playing RnB with Great american songbook Great work Martin you are an inspiration to all guitarists every where thank you bro

Played this (and subsequently another, much older vocal rendition) for my girlfriend, a pianist, and was astonished to learn she didn’t know All the Things You Are - didn’t recognize the tune at all. Happy to have your bit of conversation about what the song means to you and so many others to play for her then as well.

Beautiful clean notes..p.s I had the pleasure of jamming with Ike in the early 70's in Sydney. Totally out of my league but he was such a gentle soul, just kept going and letting me make my mistakes. Take care and keep providing us with your beautiful work.
