Stan Walker is from Aotearoa (New Zealand). Some information for you about Stan is that Stan had to have his stomach removed because he had stomach cancer, the same cancer that killed 40 members of his family, his own koko (Grandfather) died after having the same procedure that Stan had but sadly did not make it. All of us in Aotearoa New Zealand are very proud of him because he's an inspiration to us all that no matter what you're going through don't give up look up to the light don't give up on your dreams keep pushing through cos no matter what there is light at the end. Stan Walker is a Maori singer from Aotearoa (New Zealand) not Hawaki is was brought up in Australia however his roots are in New Zealand his family lives both in New Zealand and Australia Stan has come a long way since winning Australian Idol 2009 he is a proud Maori who walked away from the commercialism of music to discover where his roots (whakapapa), ancestry and sing songs (waiata) that are based on his beliefs, culture and heritage. We here in Aotearoa (New Zealand) are so very proud of him.
