    Jazza: “Babushka doll or Matryoshka doll?” Me, an intellectual: “Russian Nesting Doll”

  • @Escapetoaplace

    @Escapetoaplace

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hello intellectual, the original name is Matryoshka doll, meaning little matron originating from Russia so commonly goes by its Russian name. But the western way is Nesting Doll because they “nest within each other”, but the correct and traditional name is Matryoshka Doll. Oh and Babushka means Grandmother

    One of the very reasons I started to love both the marvel comics and Stan Lee would be because he taught me that it didn’t matter who you were, how you looked, what kind of disabilities you had. You could still be a hero. That quote on the end there made me tear up. Remembering back to why i loved those characters so much, and how much respect i had for Stan as a creator. This tribute I would say it probably one of the best ones I’ve seen. One of the reasons for that is because it wasn’t anything big or grandiose, it was simple, artistic and really holds so much feelings and impact. Well done, i even though halfway through that even Stan would be proud of that tribute.

    I love the fact that Jazza takes a moment to appreciate what he loves about his work. Like the line work, that he's not afraid to admit he's proud of his projects where as lots of people might think of it as being selfish. But in reality its seeing everything you've been able to do yourself and noticing whether you've gotten better or need to work harder, but that you are proud of what you've manage to produce and have self criticism and self build up too, which lots of people need. But to always see him so happy with his work shows he genuinely enjoyed what he was doing and put lots of love and effort into it. Stepping back and taking in what you've worked on to appreciate all the time you spent and how it came out is really good to do, it just makes you feel good ❤️

    Just came across this while catching up on Jazza's back catalog of videos. I never knew Stan Lee didn't start until he was in his 40s. I turned 45 this year and for the first time since I started my family 17 years ago, I've returned to my biggest passion, Art. I once wanted a career in art and eventfully decided it wasn't practical. Now I'm revisiting the notion and I've fallen in love with alll theses youtube artists, and want to be one. I however find most are allot younger than me. Anyway, I just wanted to show my gratitude to be shown an example of one of our favorite artistic personalities who didn't start what made his mark in this world until his 40s. Thank you.

    I’ve always called it a babushka doll as well

  • @optroncordian7863
    @optroncordian78635 жыл бұрын

    Some clarification: In russian language, babushka (with accent over the first A) means grand mother. It has nothing with the name of that doll. But I can see that this therm has become famous just with that doll. In russian language, this doll is called matryoshka. That is the original name. With some liberal translation, it means the mother of everyone. But it is very unprecise translation - it has no particular translation, the word is unique within the language. The idea of this doll is to have something that the kids can play with and at the same time can be taken away with the luggage without occupying much space. It is a heritage from the nomad communities in Asia where quite often people had to move over to find more food for themselve and for the cattles for example. It later became a symbol of the russian culture trough the Soviet Union where a lot of different ethnicities are connected together and they were able to exchange cultural and other assessments. It was a very interesting toy for me when I was a child although I am not russian.

    Optron Cordian that's some impressive background knowledge! Take it from a Russian. Where are you from? Strangely, it seems like matryoshkas are less popular over here nowadays as younger people tend to think of them as touristy.... But my actual babushka had one, and I also loved it when I was a child.

    Wow I've learned so much. Also, I love how Jazza focuses on his life while creating this peace, it was really nice. I love everything about this video! I love that he puts in Stan Lee's voice in the video. ... I was waiting for a innuedo... I wasn't disappointed. Stan Lee is really inspirational and sweet, he had such an amazing mentality about life and people... heh "...that kid walking by, hey who knows, he might have the proportionate strength of a spider."
