It's amazing that Stan was 36 and still not famous, undergoing a change in his career. Both Stan & Ollie really spent their time in the trenches b4 they got famous. 100% old school, those guys really earned it!

War - both Stan and Ollie were very famous movie stars before teaming up. Stan was Joe Rock's big star of the Stan Laurel Comedies movie series, and Hardy was a big star at Vitagraph. He was also Vim Studios' co-star with Billy Ruge as Plump and Runt. Both worked with one of the biggest stars of the day, Larry Semon.

I think Stan as a solo comic actor in silent films was very funny, creative, inventive, versatile ... a star.

The tin-pan piano music is a bit overdone and tiresome. Otherwise great.
