Stan JetBlack Hinge Release Aid Review

Спорт

We picked up a previously enjoyed Stan JetBlack hinge release aid from the ArcheryTalk.com classifieds a few months ago and it has become our go-to.
The JetBlack is the large three-finger design in the Stanislawski Morex lineup, which also includes a smaller design (BlackJack), as well as two-finger, four-finger and flat handle designs.
Stanislawski Morex hinge release aids all come equipped with a trainer lock pin that allows you to practice using a hinge without fear of accidentally releasing an arrow early and punching yourself in the face.
The thumb peg is a beefy design with plenty of adjustability, while fine tuning the hot/cold settings as simple as turning a screw.

Great review. Might pick one of those up. My Stan Perfex has the trainer pin too. Great feature

That's what I learned on. Executing shots without sending an arrow really helped my TP about 6 years ago.

Good review. That trainer lock would be nice. I always use the click since I did punch my mouth twice when I switched to the smooth side. Just got lazy and I use that click like a safety, if it goes off in my draw I restart, and I set it to click at full draw. Works pretty smooth.

Looks and sounds awesome. My hands are extra large, which makes most of the smaller releases I've tried uncomfortable to use. So really would like to try one of these. Hopefully I can find a gently used one though (still stuck on a cheap budget). Bear hunting right now. Be great to be used to it by Fall elk and deer though.

I use a hinge for hunting, but only because I can't shoot a trigger without doing a drive by and punching it. If you are comfortable with a trigger-style release, there's no great need to go with a hinge. If you do want a hinge, there are all sorts available second hand. I've got an four-finger T.R.U. Ball BT Gold I bought probably four years ago from the classifieds for $50. I'm sure it can be had for even less now. And they really should last for years and years. Not a lot of moving parts.

I have the same difficulty with trigger-style. Good points though; and I better give a less expensive hinge style a little practice shooting 3D maybe to see if it'll help. If it does, the $170.00 would probably be worth it; is Lancaster free s&h? Won't show unless I make account.

Hinge release aid all work very much the same way, so I just like to find one that is comfortable to hold. However, there are a couple of hinge release aids that have a safety. This allows you to draw back without worry that the release will fire prematurely (no punching yourself in the face). If you'd like to this route, the Tru-Ball Sweet Spot or Carter Honey are great choices.

@@emmax60 I learned on the Tru-Ball Sweet Spot. Very helpful when getting started, but eventually the safety just got in the way and I went to a regular hinge. I bet you can find a used one in the classifieds.

Can you explain the difference between this and say the Nock To It Silverback? I presently have the Silverback but maybe this one is better for a beginner for the fact of being able to practice without actually releasing an arrow.

J John You can use the Silverback mostly the same way. Just keep pressure on the safety. I would absolutely recommend the Silverback or the Stan Element to a beginner. Wish I started with one.

Thank you and good luck with everything. You are wise to commit to the Silverback early in your archery development. I had a brief flirtation with the Carter Evolution, but didn't fully commit, which was a mistake on my part.

It's kind of tough for me to say what will be more comfortable for you. I really like how the Stan releases feel, but others like a wider set up. I used to shoot a Sweet Spot (it's how I learned to shoot a hinge release), but I do think the Stan Jet Black (that's the large three-finger release) is the most comfortable I've tried. They also have two-finger and four-finger models and all will have a similar finish.
