Flawless. The man was a genius and I don't think he was ever matched.
"that beautiful sound". That's how Getz described his tone. I'm 53, lying in bed, crying my eyes out, listening to this for the first time since I was 16. A big charismatic school of art teacher introduced me to this album on a car trip to London all those years ago. Played the LP of this over and over back then. Oh my God - that beautiful sound indeed..

It's great to pour beer into a cup of lemon slices in the summer and listen while drinking.

haha I heard him play from this album in a small garden concert in Berlin when I was 16 on a school trip to Germany!! coincidentally. I was born in '63
One of the must beautyful examples of the Getz sound. Beyond the brazilian era. Strong, fluid and relaxing.

A Stan Getz Dolphin album reference popped up in The Simpsons Season 30 Episode12, “The Girl on the Bus”.

He always takes me to a wonderful cruising altitude and I know I'm in great hands.
Just found and bought this record for $8 in Berkeley, one of my most proud finds 🥲

This one and "Pure Getz" are IMO the most beautiful albums from Stan.. Thanks for sharing!

"The Dolphin" definitely, but to me "Sweet Rain" is the summit of Getz recordings.
Great Getz album - surprised difficult to get new at reasonable price - should be re-released and remastered

I havent heard in yeara, but i still love it
Not to mention the oustanding bass playing of Monty budwig.
Recorded live @ Keystone Korner in San Francisco in May 1981. Produced by Carl E. Jefferson. Cover photos are by Mark Leet.
Imo this is one of his best sounding recordings

I agree. Have you listened to "Sweet Rain" (1967 on Verve)? It's pure bliss.

The Sound . . .
Demais!!!!!...
La più bella voce dello strumento, la più bella sonorità. Nessuno come lui. Forse Paul Desmond e Julian Cannonball nell'alto.

Definitely one of his best albums.Ever matched? - hmm, technically and in variety I think Coltrane was better - but Getz is pretty cool

Im my humble opinion, the best was Joe Henderson, be it swinging or in bossas.

I adore John Coltrane, but he once said of Stan Getz : "we'd all sound like Getz......if we could".

@@jamesfarrell7465 agreed Stan is consistent and composed. Warm healthy and collected always in touch. I enjoy the live albums when he talked to the audience. Stan had a deeper keel than most people abd ut came through
