    "that beautiful sound". That's how Getz described his tone. I'm 53, lying in bed, crying my eyes out, listening to this for the first time since I was 16. A big charismatic school of art teacher introduced me to this album on a car trip to London all those years ago. Played the LP of this over and over back then. Oh my God - that beautiful sound indeed..

    haha I heard him play from this album in a small garden concert in Berlin when I was 16 on a school trip to Germany!! coincidentally. I was born in '63

    One of the must beautyful examples of the Getz sound. Beyond the brazilian era. Strong, fluid and relaxing.

    "The Dolphin" definitely, but to me "Sweet Rain" is the summit of Getz recordings.

    Definitely one of his best albums.Ever matched? - hmm, technically and in variety I think Coltrane was better - but Getz is pretty cool

    I adore John Coltrane, but he once said of Stan Getz : "we'd all sound like Getz......if we could".

    @@jamesfarrell7465 agreed Stan is consistent and composed. Warm healthy and collected always in touch. I enjoy the live albums when he talked to the audience. Stan had a deeper keel than most people abd ut came through
