@@1nfius948 Not at all. Shepherd's tone is a specific phenomenon where high octaves fade out while low ones fade out. This causes a perceived infinite rise in pitch. 12 strings sound "haunting" because of harmonic beats and harmony. Our brains like octaves, which makes 12 strings sound pleasing. Since it's impossible to have the strings perfectly tuned to octaves, there will always be a slight warble due to harmonic beats. This is often described as a "shimmering" sound. Harmonic beats are also used to tune instruments, and as an essential component of balinese gamelan music

As a drummer…when I hear this seminal part of Stairway before “he” nails the timpani’s…I get chocked up from his immense immeasurable presence that is missing…and what could have been had he been here to this very day. If I could talk to him…I would tell him that in the years since he’s been gone, his footprint in music has been no less than everywhere, especially within drummers’ circles, to this very day. His name alone is probably mentioned more today than it ever was in the 70’s. I’d also tell him that his sound over which he obsessed and fine-tuned, HIS sound…is that same sound that guides most drummers today for their own drum sound and style. Emulation is the ultimate complement. Thank you, John Henry.
