Stage 2 420cc ATV Swap! It RIPS!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We remove the seized stock Predator 420cc engine from our 2007 Polaris Hawkeye 4X4 ATV, and install the modified stage 2 Predator 420cc engine! We didn't want to open the engine case on the bad 420cc, because we wouldn't be able to return the engine to Harbor Freight, so we drained and inspected the oil. The engine oil was chunky! We installed the high performance 420cc engine, and Go Power Sports sent us a new belt that properly fit our custom 4 wheeler setup, and this custom ATV rips!

I think you could get slightly more top end speed and low end torque if you move the engine back slightly and allow the belt to reach full travel on the cvt. At idle the belt should ride at the top of the pulleys, and be nearly bottomed out at full RPM.

When you cut the support for the cvt, now all the torque load is on the crank shaft end. Could be why the other engine gave out. Might want put some kind of support between engine and trans. If not, every time you apply power the crank is being pulled back on, putting a lot wear on bearings. Just a thought. Also like others have stated check for a high/ low on transfer case.

Legend has it CnC`s responds to messages. One problem I see is your clutches are not matched. You have a 780 primary clutch with a stock Polaris secondary, change out secondary to a 780 or change primary to the stock Polaris clutch. On the secondary the top of the belt should be sitting in the groove flush or just about flush with the top of the pulley. This is maximum low end torque, right now your belt sits too low and youre losing low end torque and top end power because by the time the primary has fully ramped up at max rpm the belt has barely moved in the secondary...basically right now its like youre starting out in second gear (using a three speed gearbox for example) all the way thru your power band and then to third gear. Next off check belt tightness, you run a straight edge from where the belt sits at its lowest point in the primary to its highest point in the secondary and push on the belt at the middle. The deflection shouldnt be more than an inch +/- a quarter of an inch.

Just a tip for changing the belt on it. Put a pry bar or screw driver between the secondary pulley and spread it open. Makes changing it so much easier. Won’t have to keep unbolting and bolting.

I have the polaris 440 4 stroke and it does about 45 mph max. Great job, I've been curious to see this happen. --buy a header flange! Get that clutch working right. It might look like it when there is no load, but I don't think It's working right. I would make that primary clutch engage Waaaaay earlier too. That engine should have the torque. I have a stage 3 420cc lifan in a buggy I built. It shreds from low rpm if I set the clutch that way. I think that 4x4 would be far more fun if you could go lightly as well.

Was gonna say, We had luck through advance auto parts on tracking a belt down for a build we did. Delco told us they didnt make it, guess the belt manufacturer lol. But looks like you got that solve. Highly recommend putting a guard on the belt, tends to hurt a bit. We have a Polaris 250, but definitely does NOT have the 250 in it. Atm we're running 64mph, gotta do some gearing customization since Polaris doesn't go high enough. But looks stock, from a distance what we shoe-horned in there, is definitely not. Feel free to check out rednexcreations on here or Facebook. Kinda new to KZread but think you'll enjoy it a little
