Cityviews of the town of Enkhuizen about a century ago in color! Enkhuizen is a town in the province of Noord Holland in North-West of The Netherlands and lies on the banks of the IJsselmeer, formerly called the "Zuiderzee" until it was closed-off by a huge dike called the "Afsluitdijk".
This film shows the old harbour, town center, an ancient tower and city gate called the "Drommedaris", the "Peperhuis", the Townhall and many more picturesq viewpoints. Also it shows glimpses of the "Tuin- en Landbouw" (garden and agriculture) exhibition as well as a "Ringsteken" tournament.

It's a real treat watching these wonderful old films. Lovely to see the interesting architecture and people's clothing from that time. The spectators seeing the horses and carriages all looked very smart ,interesting too were the different reactions people in the parade had when they realised they were being filmed. I look forward to the next films. Happy New year.

Sooo nice to see my hometown from 100 years ago! The ‘ringsteken’ is still done every year on Harddraverijdag.
I want to say that your videos and work is wonderful and amazing! These images are incredible to see the past is too lovely to talk about. All these people who physically live on because of these images. Now they are available today for me (not old yet lol) and for future generations.

Dat was de Bioscoop " de Munt " , in de 70/80 er jaren gesloopt en is daar de Hema gekomen Zie : uitdeoudedoos.kroniekvanenkhuizen.nl/westerstraat-bioscoop-en-muntgebouw-omstreeks-1925
Still haven’t seen anyone walking barefoot in the snow uphill in both directions lol.. so neat to see people from 100 years ago..they must have had so much of a different view on life than we do today.

It’s just possible for a baby then to be alive now. I’ve had several relatives who lived to be over 100 years old with all their faculties. But they wouldn’t be able to remember it as they were babies then. And lots of us knew people who were alive then. My grandparents were all married by then and used to tell us about those times. I knew my great great aunt very well, she was born in 1880 and lived until 1984.
