🥇 Stadium of the Year 2022: OPAP Arena

Stadium of the Year 2022 is... OPAP Arena! The Athens stadium beat off strong competition and is among the thirteen past winners of the Stadium of the Year competition. In addition to the AEK Athens facility, 35 other venues from six continents took part in the competition. OPAP Arena beat not only Polish venues, which complete the podium, but also great stadiums from other corners of the world - including Lusail Stadium and Jakarta International Stadium.
Why was this particular facility the winner? The effort and unity shown by AEK fans and other arena supporters during the vote for stadium of the year is admirable. In addition to the fan movement, the OPAP Arena is simply a beautiful, graceful and fitting facility. It is visually impressive and aesthetically pleasing, which undoubtedly also encouraged people from other countries to give one of their votes to OPAP Arena. The Best choice... This Stadium is inspired by the Byzantine History and this is the History of AEK. It includes the Offices of the Club in the backside and a Museum of Civilization and Memory in front. And many shops inside... Restaurant with court view, a chapel of St. Loucas dedicated to the best President of the club Loucas Barlos, shoe store, bet stores, hamam, hydromassage, bars, cafe, pastry and others... Congratulations to AEK

Iam a huge Olympiacos fan I feel very proud and happy that a Greek stadium got voted as the best stadium of the year I hope and wish all the Greek teams will have moments and new stadiums as AEK ❤️🇬🇷
This stadium has a unique architecture, the best choice by far!! All others have modern designs but this one has Byzantine architecture. It is unique in the world!

Σοβαρευτείτε, το γήπεδο δεν είναι ναός για να είναι βυζαντινής αρχιτεκτονικής. Απλά έχει μερικά στοιχεία που θυμίζουν ναούς βυζαντινής αρχιτεκτονικής.
Hagia Sophia Opap Arena has 32,5k capacity. Not such a huge stadium but not such a small as well. Enough for us. The stadium also has amazing facilities, it's own museums, and a great history behind it. The history of the world! We are proud for it! AEK Athens 💛🖤🦅
It might not be the biggest, neither the most expensive nor the prettiest but it certainly has a character that other stadiums lack of. Most importantly it has such a connection with AEK fans that no other stadium in the world has. It's not an exaggeration when I am saying that many AEK fans stayed a bit longer in live just to see the stadium completed. Unfortunately some didn't make it but AEK organization in the opening ceremony gave its respects to all those fans. As Bartholomew, the archbishop of Constantinople, said: "AEK is not just a football club, AEK is mainly an idea, and ideas never die"

We built this beautiful stadium with heart, emmotions, tears, love, passion and meraki. It may not be the best in the world, but it is the best for all of us here in Athens. Thank you StadiumDB for the great honour. We expect you all to visit Agia-Sofia Stadium (Opap Arena). The other big thing is that all that was built with no bank loans etc. From day 1, this stadium brings money to the Club. We all want to thank our President that made it happen. The only problem is that the name of the stadium is Hagia Sophia, not ... OPAP arena. OPAP is a smarmy bookmaker company and as they are sponsors of AEK Athens they demanded this change of name, to which the board of directors acquiesced.

Im an Aek fan, to be fair Lusail and Jakarta stadiums are superior, and of course its gonna be if you put so much money. The difference is Agia Sogia (OPAP Arena) has a long history. Passion for this team is unbelievable. And the atmosphere is something you need to experience to understand in this place.

Ωραιο αλλα μικρο. Εν ετη 2023 γηπεδο λιγοτερο απο 40χιλιαδες θεσεις δε φτιαχνεις. Και η εσωτερικη του μορφη επίσης ειναι λιγάκι ξεπερασμενη πλέον

Τα στάδια χτίζονται σύμφωνα με τη δυνατότητα που μπορούν να τα γεμίσουν οι οπαδοί τους. ΑΝ για παράδειγμα το καμπ Νου ήταν 40.000 αντί για 100 τότε θα ήταν όντως μικρό. Δε νομίζω να γέμιζε αν γινόταν 40.000 και πάνω.

@@Neo-R. Μα στη δυναμική της αεκ αναφέρομαι προφανώς. Με φθηνοτερα εισιτηρια πιστευω πως δεν υπαρχει περιπτωση να μη γεμιζε ειδικα στα μεγαλα ματς πρωταθληματος ή Ευρωπης.

@@dimitbonat5028 δεν υπήρχε ο χωρίς για μεγαλύτερο γήπεδο. Έχω 2 στρέμματα πηραμε από το άλσος και κόπηκαν 100 δεντρα (δεσμεύτηκαν να φυτέψουν 1000) κι έγινε χαμός. Επίσης το στέγαστρο έχει τα υψηλότερα στάνταρ πυροπροστασίας.

@@georgebakinio Ναι προφανώς, αναφέρομαι σε περίπτωση που χτιζόταν λίγο έξω απ' τη Φιλαδέλφεια που θα χε και χώρο για μεγαλύτερες ανέσεις πλην της χωρητικότητας με πολλές θέσεις πάρκινγκ κλπ.

Στην Ελλάδα κανείς δεν γεμίζει γήπεδο 40.000 θέσεων.Καλύτερα να είναι μικρότερο απο το να γεμίζει σε 2-3 παιχνίδια την σεζόν και στα υπόλοιπα να είναι άδειο
Ο ναός μας,η Αγία Σοφία μας,η ψυχή μας,οι μνήμες μας,όλη η ζωή μας είναι εκεί....
