The Turin Olympic Stadium, officially Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino since 2016, is a football stadium in the north-west Italian city of Turin, Piedmont region. It is located in the southern district of Santa Rita.
The stadium was built in 1933 and was initially called Stadio Municipale Benito Mussolini. The first events held there were the Giochi Littoriali dell'anno XI, the Campionati Internazionali Studenteschi and the European Athletics Championships in 1934.
It hosted two games during the 1934 World Cup. From the 1934/35 season, the arena became the home of Juventus Turin, who celebrated 16 championship titles there. Local rivals AC Turin only moved to the stadium from the ailing Stadio Filadelfia in the late 1950s.
After the end of the Second World War, it was initially renamed the Stadio Comunale. On May 11, 1947, Italian football history was written in the Comunale. In the match between the Italian national team and Hungary (3:2), ten players from the Grande Torino were in the starting line-up, ironically the eleventh man was the Juve player Lucidio Sentimenti. Never again have there been more players from a single club in the starting XI of the Squadra Azzurra.
For the 2006/07 season, both Turin football clubs moved from the unpopular Stadio delle Alpi back to the arena. Since the 2011/12 season, Juventus has played in the newly opened Juventus Stadium and the Stadio Olimpico is the sole home of Torino FC.
In April 2016, the city of Turin decided to rename it Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, in memory of the Grande Torino, the prolific team of AC Torino in the 1940s, who died almost entirely in the 1949 Superga plane crash.

Is this the stadio dele alpi stadium? As i know Juve had moved from there into a new 40K stadium. I was just wondering if Torino had built a new stadium also? As in the UK it is strange to us that foreign teams share stadiums and that they don't own them but rather rent them from the local government but each to their own.

No, FC Torino plays in this stadium, the old Delle Alpi is no longer there, only the two towers of the Delle Alpi are still standing. The Allianz Stadium is the stadium of Juventus and the stadium belongs to Juventus, I sent you a link there you can see the Allianz Stadium and the two towers of the Delle Alpi that were integrated into the new stadium. have fun👍
