Building a stadium in Italy is a huge undertaking, bearing in mind the many bureaucratic issues that move at a snail's pace on the Apennine peninsula. In Sardinia, the need for a new facility has been enormous. So great that the temporary stadium of the club from the biggest city was built.... in the car park of the old Stadio Sant'Elia.
At the beginning of 2019, it was decided that the future stadium of Serie B side Cagliari Calcio could be expanded to 30,000 seats. Thanks to this, it will meet the requirements of Euro 2032, for the organisation of which Italy intends to candidate. Is 10 years enough time for the venue to finally appear on Italy's stadium map?

The stadium is getting the same treatment as the one in Rome: being left at the mercy of abandoned italian stadiums projects. It's been years and still no trace of beginning of construction. The italian bureaucracy is the worst ever, it gets years to come to a conclusion in terms of renovations or constructions regarding stadiums. Fact is only few clubs in Italy own their stadiums such as Juventus, Atalanta, Sassuolo and Udinese, the rest are owned by the cities.

Ma quale burocrazia, semplicemente "non ci sta un euro". Solo se assegnano gli europei all'Italia si avrà un rinnovamento degli stadi, altrimenti nulla.

This stadium will almost certainly be called Unipol Stadium. With the presentation of the final project, the total cost of the work has risen to almost 200 million euro

The total cost does not concern only the stadium but the redevelopment of the surrounding area is part of a broader plan.

Rendering ce ne sono in gran quantità, costano nulla e si vendono bene in termini di visualizzazioni ed articoli di carta stampata. Nella realtà invece non c'è un euro per poterli fare, a meno che non vengano assegnati gli europei del 2032 all' Italia, in tal caso si potrà fare "la grande abbuffata".
