La contralto et chef d'orchestre Nathalie Stutzmann, est considérée comme une des plus grandes voix et une des personnalités musicales les plus marquantes de notre époque.

En 2009, elle fonde son propre orchestre de chambre, Orfeo 55, ensemble jouant aussi bien sur instruments modernes que baroques, ce qui lui permet de s'aventurer en tout liberté dans les répertoires les plus divers. Son expérience de musicienne romantique et sa connaissance des styles anciens lui permettent d'aborder avec le même succès aussi bien Vivaldi et Mozart que Beethoven, Wagner ou Brahms.
L'approche de Nathalie Stutzmann, à la fois libre et rigoureuse, sa science du phrasé et l'intensité émotionnelle de ses interprétations, sa maîtrise exceptionnelle au service de la passion qu'elle communique sont autant d'éléments qui la font apprécier du public et des orchestres qu'elle dirige.

Her voice is like liquid gold and to conduct with such artistry while singing I've never seen. Bravissima Mme. Stutzmann.

Grandioso Vivaldi, e grandissima anche l'interpretazione di Nathalie Stutzmann.
Que hermosura de voz única y profunda, unos graves en voz femenina que transmite la tristeza y el dolor de la Virgen María.
In molti punti esce fuori volutamente dalla partitura, ma l'esecuzione è sicura fluida ed estremamente contemplativa. Un timbro vocale decisamente sostenuto e tondo. Grande artista, geniale maestria dei virtuosismi, profondità d'espressione e di lettura del testo e del suo significato.

J'ai appris que Nathalie Stutzmann a dû se séparer de son merveilleux orchestre "Orphéo 55" qu'elle avait forgé avec une compétence, un savoir faire inimitable, et qui l'accompagnait si merveilleusement. Je trouve cela triste. J'en ignore les raisons.

Je crois qu'elle voulait se concentrer sur sa carriere de chef d'orchestre et n'avait plus le temps pour chercher des mecenes pour "Orpheo 55". (Je m'excuse pour l'omission des accents francais!)

@@francoislebedel4428 M. Lebedel, je trouve votre jugement sur Mme. Stutzmann injuste, voire insultant. Elle a dit dans beaucoup d'entretiens que son grand rêve c'est la direction des orchestres symphoniques. Elle aurait voulu le faire déjà comme jeune musicienne, mais c'était pas possible pour les femmes à cette époque-la. Il y'avait trop de préjugés contre les femmes qui voulaient devenir chef d'orchestre. Et maintenant elle vit son rêve.

Frau Stutzman, your voice in this production is hollow and deep; yet another stunning perspective in addition to the countertenor shades I heard, earlier. But I am not stunned. I heard you sing various Arias such as Bach's Erbarme Dich, and many more. You stand as a proud klavier-spielender, also, director, singer, recording artist and, who knows what more. Yet you are a humble but accomplished and devout lover of music. I keep wondering what Helmut Rilling would say when he meets you. I met him, as a spectator, in Stuttgart in 1985 together with John Gardiner and other musicians reminiscing 300 years of Bach, Handel and Scarlatti. WOW thank you, thank you, Frau Stutzmann. Honestly, everyone, who needs counter-tenors with their non-resonating "voices" when we can have magnificent contraltos like Nathalie Stutzman. I'm sick to death of the counter-tenor hype.

it's a matter of taste, I much prefer Andreas Scholl's version, less vibrato, less obnoxious techniques, more neutral and therefore purer. Feels more natural

@@eyeship6037 I almost forgot about Andreas Scholl. I have no choice but to share your opinion. Nathalie Stutzmann is not really in his league, technically speaking. She's clunky by comparison. Those old Harmonia Mundi recordings are worth gold today.

@@MacKenziePoet conversely his voice is thin and weak in comparison. A Contralto is valued not only for her rarity but her unrivalled full, rich, earthy powers. It's a somber, dark voice. The darker and heavier the tone, the more mournful and haunted/haunting she sounds. The unique tragic beauty inherent in such a voice is all at once powerful, conversational, most compelling of all female voices. @2:00 l have always loved how she sounds here in this particular piece. Elegant and sorrowful, so much more depth I must disclose l am a Contralto myself and when l was young l would admire the dark voiced ladies, thinking it could be a preview of what l could be capable of, one day. Thinking my warm tone pedestrian, somehow my lowest register has aged into a rich smoky plum mixed with charcoal.

She's not a mezzo, she's a true contralto, with the most amazing range of notes. I could listen to her forever.

Love her singing and intense emotion but don't like her "conducting" . Too distracting from her astounding performance ! Do one or the other but not both at the same time !
