ST THOMAS || bath fountain || 3 TIPS i wish i knew before visiting the bath fountain ⛲️ 🇯🇲
The Bath Fountain, located in the foothills of the John Crow mountains in St. Thomas are reputed to have healing qualities. The natural spring waters are believed to aid in the recovery of a wide range of ailments, including gout, rheumatism and skin conditions. There are two springs, one cold and one piping hot which flow through the rocks on bamboo pipes.
The active elements in the water are lime, sulphur and magnesium. The mineral concentrations are not as high as those found in the Milk River or Rockfort mineral baths but it is believed that the natural high temperature of the waters provide additional healing power.
History of Bath Fountain According to legend the baths were discovered in the 17th century by a runaway slave suffering from ulcers on his leg. He stumbled across the spring and washed his wounded limb in the water. He noticed the next day that his leg began to rapidly heal.
News of the healing fountain spread and soon the spring (then named "The Bath of St Thomas the Apostle") attracted visitors from all over Jamaica. In 1699 Colonel Stanton (the owner of the land on which the spring stood) sold the 1,130 acre estate to the government. The Government developed the fountain and built a hospital on the site offering free treatment using the magical waters
Guest houses sprang up nearby and many wealthy merchants built homes here, establishing Bath as a fashionable spa town
Over the years the spa fell out of favour and has fallen in to a state of disapear.
With all said the hustle of the fountain should also be mentioned, please make sure when you are visiting the bathfountain to discuss prices with the locals for the services you would like to receive before they begin to avoid unnecessary confusion.
Also the locals on the road, or at the entrance of the bathfountain are not employees of any sort, the fountain is free to enjoy with no charges.

True.. but they are not smart none at all .. if they keep it affordable they will get more clients 💯..
Always know the price before any work start. In any situation that other party is rendering a service, if they don't have the price posted it should be stated verbally first. Unless it is a friend who just working with what you have.

Very true.. I really did ask, and they were pretending like it's cheap and all.. so I looked past it because I just wanted to support the locals with their daily bread and got a scam.. but it will never happen again thou

True , I'll definitely go check out the reggae falls next time. I've heard so much about that place I really need to visit.. and just to be clear, I'm not trying to put St.Thomas in a bad light either im from East portland really close.. but bro soooo much people complained about the sane problem over and over.. they really need to do a little bit better no joke

@@mingweltweittv8584 It definitely going to take people talking about it about it for it to stop. They can simply have a laminated price chart for the different services they offer. It's borderline extortion what they are doing. Love Portland, best beaches!
