Ғылым және технология

St. Stephens African Methodist Episcopal Cemetery is the oldest remaining structure of the historic village of Unionville, Maryland and is the final resting place of eighteen union soldiers of the United States Colored Troops known as the Unionville 18. Several of the men were formally from the area and enslaved at Wye Plantation until 1863 when they enlisted in the Union Army to fight in the United States Civil War. Unionville was established in 1867 after the men return from the Civil War that ended in 1864. These men became the founders of the community and built many structures including this church.
St. Stephens AME Church is part of the National Park Service Network To Freedom Underground Railroad Trail.
