That's it? Like has been said, where are places for boats? Parking? Fishing? And there's only going to be one restaurant and a couple food trucks? This is all quite ridiculous.

This is what we’ve been waiting for?! Sooooo disappointing for all the reasons already stated.

That's it? I was looking forward to something special. This is minimalist at best. Why not a bold return to the Mediterranean-style Million Dollar Pier of 1926? Classic, matches area architecture, serves multiple purposes (dining, docks, receptions, gatherings, shops), and beautiful. It would become the iconic picture of St Petersburg for the coming century.

whats wrong with minimalism? yikes if you want huge ugly clunky buildings then go back to manhattan or brooklyn

it could've reached historic status there enough alone making it a main tourist/local site bringing in money. shop eat drink fish. I miss the original pier

arg, the renderings I saw last year of the coming pier were amazing. What was shown here is boring, there's almost nothing there! What happened? :-(

Where are the docks for the boats to park?

I believe it’s multipurpose when I see it! The other place was a mall basically Food trucks don’t count as a restaurant for this one🧐😂

Hope they’ve got room for those spicy little fried shrimps on the end of this thing...I used to eat at the rooftop of the old pier as a kid, they’ve got to have at least one place to eat bc that’s a huge working space they’ve got!

This is the thing the voters (owners) voted against! Easy to see why!

Where’s the bait shop?

this is definitely nothing like the pier I grew up going to I can't believe they demolished the first one. all they had to do was upgrade it a little. with the downtown. scene being as big as it is the pier could've went towards a better direction just the way it was maybe add another floor or two for night club. the new pier looks boring and I can only imagine the row of parking meters lol somebody gotta pay

There will be no motor vehicle traffic except the tram. Bike, walk or run to the pier!

Need that Florida spicy fried shrimp 🍤 vegan rn, have been for 4 years! But only on the beach would I consider...they need a place with wild caught crabs on this thing

I first moved to St. Pete. in 1953 and currently live in Los Angeles. I remember the old pier. This is disappointing. The end of this pier is not a multi-purpose destination.

You have to make. A nice beach close to this building , people really like a nice beach, many people ask the beach iz very stink close to the Pear. Everybody go to the St.Pete. beach .

Ok ok, anyone know when this thing is going to be done?

Im on the same boat, what happened to the original concept? THis thing is pure minimalist. ANd only really caters to booked events. The old pier was a great place to hang out, fish or even tailgate. This looks more for prom and graduation ceremonies. it will generate no money, and will likely have its doors locked or be gated off to the public 90% of the time, what a waist! all that time for this!!?? what were they thinking? or better yet who was the person that thought this up? sigh.. oh well.

@@yogidevendrabiriyani1777 who's going to be sitting out in 98 degree weather. Old pier had multiple floors. An aquarium. Multiple shops and restraunts. I can go to my park and get the same thing

Should have just made a parking lot so there can be more meter police issuing tickets & locking up tires because there is nowhere to park down there. It's a pain to go downtown. Just wall to wall restaurants anyways. It's amazing how much energy and money on this thing with no parking then there is ancient looking 275 & filthy over passes/landscaping being a mess along with many other streets in the city.

Rebuild the inverted pyramid...or something remotely interesting from an architectural point of view...

Food for thought, great another open air park, to walk in an bake yourself in the 90 degree heat. The end destination on the design is way too small, and doesn't look like it could hold a restaurant. And if you wanted to go do you have to walk half a mile in the sun to get to it? This is the BEST you could come up with?????????? I just see yet another homeless playgound/campsite

Where are the ways for it to generate income??? 2 Food trucks & 1 restaurant will never = the millions you will waste on building this.. just wait until williams park moves in!!! HAHA #NewPierFAIL

What's the purpose of the pier? family picnic, fishing, chilling, watching the boats go by.. There is already plan for a restaurant at the pier head. What would you like to see, hotdog carts all over the place and a circus tent at the pier head?

It's too small

Obviously "iconic design" as articulated by the mayor/city officials was scratched from the list. This also bears virtually no resemblance to what the community voted for.

For all the haters, New Pier is going to be a community park.. not a flashy circus or carnival! Just as classy as the downtown waterfront area and, there will be plenty to do and enjoyment for all!

Well it's open and looks nothing like this, very disappointed.

Design firm sold St. Pete the Russian Embassy La Habana, Cuba. Shame on you Council. Do your research before using "unique" or "innovative" Of ALL suggestive themes in today's times!

Total bs.. st.pete officially has lost the best thing about it.. obviously who ever is building it has not been to the old pier.... And have zero attachment and memories as I had growing up, I hope this bankrupt's st.pete and let's just whip it all out

thanks for not going forward with the design the people actually voted for. This looks awful
