I'm Irish American and alternate between the two depending on what I'm saying and to whom I am saying it. Most generally I say the full version first and if it is repeated in the same sentence or two I might shorten it. Especially in written form. Perhaps if I was raised in Ireland I wouldn't have the shortened version in my vernacular. 🤣

That's interesting. The reason it is often said Patty's is because that is what Patricks are often called by the Irish. At least in my family experience it is. @@melissanelson1975

I am so glad you’re doing St. Patrick’s Day cause I asked Christy McKean to do St. Patrick’s today and she said that all Irish are nothing but drums which I thought was a very prejudiced statement so I’m glad that you are doing because I’m Irish and I don’t drink. I’m also American Indian too so I’m sure she had something to say about that, but I died grass. I don’t want her anymore because of it.
