i was shocked to see the damage myself. suffice to say i'm glad to be alive..

Will you be posting regular updates of the clean up and recovery? I love this island and would like to see it back to its former beauty.

The most powerful hurricane in the Atlantic to ever make landfall . Among the top 5 strongest hurricane or typhoon in the world ever . Winds 190 mph ( sustained ) gust at 233 mph . Yet 34 days after , 75 % of the Island has electricity and water . No small feat .

Some commercial flights to the island have begun . Only a few but it is a step in the right direction . Thank you for loving and believing in our Island . It helps us cope with the sacrifices needed to rebuild .

I have walked/shopped on these streets many times. I hardly recognize it. Am supposed to return in December. Doubt it. so very sad

Shane Daniel yes, lots of stores had their windows/doors destroyed and more than a few people took advantage of that..

This happened before, and SXM recovered , this time however it really struck hard ....

they had to have a cruise ship evacuate afterward- those French know how to make things happen!!

tom murphy yep i saw it on my way to the airport on sunday! i got evacuated with a military aircraft to puerto rico. it was quite an experience.

What a shame.

A lot of cleanup work to do, eh?

Exactly! People I know are ready to go back now, even knowing what the island looks like now. SXM will always be a magical island to so many of us who love your Paradise.
