I’m glad y’all enjoyed my city!!! Also St. Louis cemetery houses the tomb of Marie Laveau and people were “defacing“ her tune with the three exits. That’s another reason why they now require you to go through it with a tour guide. Jessica, I love your lipstick. Your dress and your hat make you fit right in in New Orleans. Did your guide tell y’all about the year and a day “ovens”.

I'm not sure if you know in 2013 Marie Laveau's grave was completely defaced by someone who felt the need to paint it Pepto Bismol pink (latex paint). It did a ton of damage. The tomb was almost destroyed and they weren't sure if they could restore it. :-) Fun fact. I loved you video. Your wit and commentary were cracking me up. From one tour director to another...Cheers!!

My wife and I were in New Orleans back in 2013, then, Cemetery No. 1 was open to the public to where you could walk in and stay as long as you want during normal hours. I must say back then, the grounds were very clean! Its ashamed you have to pay now to walk thru it.

I liked the vampire shop and the dungeon bar best. Also question, did you feel like it was all properly restored post Katrina? I feel like before Katrina New Orleans was a grand almost fantastical place. You look at old Mardi Gras footage and your just like that's insane. I can't help but wonder if they go that back. For example what was the energy like on your visit?

I'm rather disappointed with the Cemetery and whichever diocese or company is in charge of the tours there. It's wonderful they are restoring the tombs, but they should run 1, maybe 2 tours at a time and then have other employees/guides cleaning up the paths and grounds. It just seems lazy and disrespectful to me, especially for such a historic and revered place. But the Boutique du Vampyre was incredible...very creative and unusual! Thanks for another great vid!!!

While I agree that is is wonderful that they are restoring the tombs, some of them should be repaired, but left in their original state. Too much remodeling. Those tombs should be preserved EXACTLY as they originally were. Furthermore, it would be great if the diocese in charge would just be cool and let people place candles, flowers and incense on and around Marie Leveuo's tomb. It doesn't hurt anything. Neither do the "XXX" markings. But that's the trouble with the Papacy. It is RELIGIOUS!!! And religious administrations are notorious for being intolerant!!! Now, I'm sure there are PLENTY of gang-bangers in New Orleans. That trash is in just about every state in the union!!! Those trashy people are the WORST. They probably had to spend HOURS scrubbing the graffiti off of the tombs!!! But surveillance cameras and swift harsh punishment would have taken care of that. Now, the rules are way TOO strict, and they ruin it for EVERYONE. Especially when a good 80 percent of the rules are being made by the pious and holy diocese under the directive of the Pope!!! Religious people don't have a whole lot of tolerance, folks.

When you come back to NOLA, me and my ol lady can show you around some cool shit. Were friends with the lady that owns Boutique Du Vampyre and she also owns a vampire speakeasy called Potions, its actually where me and my ol lady met. The Dungeon is one of our haunts and you definitely need to check it out when its open. Its upstairs area opens about an hour after opening time and the entrance to it is behind a fake wall.

Love your videos, but as a local “Quarter Rat” you may have not had a chance to learn the reasons behind the cemetery’s new rules and regulations. After crimes, vandalism, theft and even murders, the Catholic Arch Dioceses with no cemetery budget to work with, had to make the tough and unprecedented decision to comply with City Hall to pass new laws and ordinances city wide that no one may enter a cemetery from dusk til dawn and gates are to be locked. Skulls and entire skeletons being stolen and sold on black markets, someone painted Marie Laveaux’s tomb pink! It had to be resurfaced by specialists like you saw. I know you must come from a very nice, clean town with a big budget, but New Orleans stays broke without a lot of niceties of other cities, but we manage. While hurricane Katrina recovery money has been well spent and stretched, can you believe 14 years later, FEMA is only just now giving NOLA the rest of the money for street repair? I must also tell you that October is the busiest time of year in NOLA for anything of a haunted or macabre nature. I manage a popular haunted venue and it’s no lie, it’s crazy crowded. There’s VooDoo Music Fest, Halloween parties and events, parades, and start of football and conference season, etc. Since the Cemetaries have only seven hours to work with, they are packed out in October. The haunted night tours in the Quarter are limited in times as well. It’s a fast hustle for sure. The money you pay directly to the Arch Diocese pays for affordable weekly cleaning and maintenance only, not daily. The tomb and grave repairs are done by a charity organization that is dependent on donations. With so many descendants of these tombs dead and no families to care for them, it has fallen on charity. To better understand the plight of the city’s cemetaries, please visit “save our cemeteries” www.saveourcemeteries.org It’s not a racket, it’s a sad situation. Money is scarce to save these gravesites from the perils of vandalism, time, weather and neglect. Please consider promoting a better understanding for perceived unpleasantness in someone else’s town before griping to the world. New Orleans is not DI$NEY World, and never will be.

I love New Orleans!!!!! I have been to #1 twice, the last time in November of 2016. I even visited Marie's gift shop in the quarter. I learned a lot about voodoo there, especially that it's not as bad as Christians think it is! The day we went in 2016, our tour was much better, and was run by the church across the street. Marie's tomb was roped off and painted over, so people couldn't mark it up anymore.
