Please answer this St Kilda. Why, when our backline is so strong, and our midfield so clearly lacking, would we throw such significant money at another strong Backline player? Makes it make sense.

After watching Gold Coast last night Ned Moyle is a player we really need Would happily see Noah Balta in Saints colours too A young option we might be able to get cheap is James Leake from GWS. His versatility would be awesome for us going forward Most preferably though I want us to stick to the draft, develop the next core group of players then top up from there

I think there's still a lot to see this year. Heaps of young talent to develop yet, no point in getting impatient with them. It's not like we can recruit to win a flag. A tall defender would be nice. The way that ross plays means we concede less, adding a Weitering or Taylor allows us to release and play a bit more attacking. LDU is the one I think we need that grunt in the middle we are constantly on the back foot out of the middle. Couple of first rounders and adding quality FA and RFA is the way to build and win on the run.

@@SaintsTVPod No disrespect to a Howard or Cordy, but if you are our coaching staff or attacking half back you probably have a bit more confidence to play a forward half game when having a Weitering and Wilkie behind you.

Fair point. It seems like that is the way he's coaching now. Stopped that fast hand ball game which wasn't working. If we can play that lock up defense game and then use the speed through the middle. The only reason we don't now is due to the lack of talent in the midfield. We go the wing every time

Don’t care even more I just want to see this year go by first and then talk about who comes in to the team not before hand.

I think that for retirements and needs we'll have our oldest player is tom cambell ~32 iirc. For injuries Allison, Hotton, Van Es, and Keeler could retire if they're unlucky. Hayes is really effective sometimes and the league right now loves rotating players through positions to get a guy free. Someone who could play that role and be an understudy to Ro would be nice, like freemantle's Treacy? I think every key defender we've drafted is not on the list anymore except Van Es who's out for the season. So we've had a need for a true backup to Howard and someone to develop with the young group. Someone like Comben from north would be ideal I reckon.

Need to stop thinking that a free agent or two will improve us. It would be much more worthwhile to focus on hitting the draft hard and trade out some players for extra picks, before Tasmania enters the comp and compromises the draft for a few years. Some tough calls on players need to be made, but not sure whether the club has the courage to make them. This is the way.

Brayshaw and LDU

Watching the game tonight, we dodged a bullet with Weittering! Could we get more coaching staff to inadvertently invest in what we have? Is that possible? Ruck coach and specialist forward coach and Harves step up to more generalist assistant coach across the board.

Culture your own and build a team by hard work and lots of training. Most important thing is athletic or strength capability. If there is somebody that is great value then fine but otherwise culture and athletic capability.

Spend the $ to replace Lyon ?

Would love to see Nesiah in middle, he could be our answer.

NO-ONE player is worth it. Given it is St Kilda look up John McIntosh at St Kilda. He was an awesome player! How long do you reckon he lasted at St Kilda before retiring with an injury. Look it up !! Let’s focus on the players we already have.

Have you seen our draft picks ? Ben McEvoy 9and not Patrick Dangerfield at 10, Jack Billings 3 and Marcus Bontempelli 4, Paddy McCartin 1 and Christian Petracca 2, Max King 4 and Conor Rozee 5, and there's even more waste in the 2017 draft with 2 dodgy selections in the top 10. What was the clubs chief recruitment officer doing, besides some serious drugs ? Dan Hannerbry leads an expensive list of regurgitated duds that have done nothing but yet here we are, throwing good money after bad at more top up talent, get a grip St. Kilda FC because you'll wind up extinct like North Melbourne if your not careful

How many clearance players do we need??? Crouch, Steele, Windhager, Dow, Ross are ALL clearance players. We NEED a player like Dusty (Martin) who can play in the middle but can kick goals

StKilda needs a more potent forward line. Until they can consistently kick over 13 goals per match, they will have limited success. No money should be thrown towards any particular player, unless that player can be a top ranked goalkicker.

I love ya mate but you can’t say things like comparing getting Weitering to getting Brad hill or Dan Hannebury. Weitering is a much much better and younger player than either. Same with LDU, or Brayshaw. It’s a little bit delusional to want good players will come to St Kilda to be part of something. As a small club we need to pay them to leave their own clubs

I wouldn't be spending big dollars on a player until the youth are peaking. That's when we need to top up. Have to time it right otherwise we end up in an endless re build and the money is wasted. We need some A grade mids though badly

But it goes both ways, a lot of young Players struggle with confidence, and a good 'A' grader can take a bit of pressure off the younger Guys and free them up a bit, then it can positively compound.

@@wolfgangshmit7333 Yes, the recruiting hasn't been the best over the last decade or so. I think they need to take attitude more in to account than they do. They have had some great Players, but they have lacked Players with real grit and leadership qualities that can inspire the Team when their heads are down. When Hodge went to Brisbane he lifted the whole Team just with his attitude, determination and work ethic. We need to be looking for those qualities in the Players we recruit, as well as playing ability. I've been following them ever since I can remember, and I'm 65 now, so I've learned to be patient, you have no choice, lol.

Problem is, NO ONE wants to come to StKilda, and i don't blame them.

Not a bad idea, maybe not Dusty, but everyone saw what Luke Hodge did for the Lions, his toughness, leadership and experience was like a kick up the arse for the whole Team. St.Kilda really lacks in that department, seems to be some mental issues there. lots of games they are flat and there doesn't seem to be anybody that can get them going. I think that was at least some of their thinking when they signed Hannebery, but injures messed that up. If an experienced Player with the appropriate skills that can add to the positive attitude of the Club comes up, it's worth considering, as long as the price is right.
