After watching the full video I can sincerely say I’m sorry you had to stand there and film throughout this whole game. Those parents were ridiculous and embarrassing. Most of them will be the reason their daughters don’t get scholarships to play in college because of their behavior, I’ve seen it happen in Florida where I’m from. There’s a difference between aggressive play and dirty, none of the players on the white team were dirty. Maybe certain players aren’t used to getting touched but as you age, the level of play increases and so does being aggressive. I loved the way #16 played, great offense and defensive, not afraid to tackle and draw the foul at the right time and for grown adults to scream “tackle her” is fucking ridiculous. Some of these Ohio parents may need to keep their daughters in AYSO because wait until you play the Texas girls or California and Florida is a whole different breed and there’s my mercy shown. That’s the end of my rant and my Ted Talk lol I love the videos and wish I can go back and play high school one more time! Keep up the awesome vids!

The first yellow given was because the blue player jumped right in front of the throw-in, which is an automatic yellow for failing to respect the required distance.

I think she had a good touch on it, but when a shot is taken that far out she should be able to get in an appropriate position to where she can hang on to the ball. It is not so much her handling that needs work, but the speed and reaction of her footwork that needs to be improved upon.

  • @Raider025

Another general statement about spectators: generally speaking, as the athletes get older, good spectators will usually get a better understanding of the rules/laws of the game. When varsity parents don't get why you can't jump in front of a throw in (or even ponder for more than a second why you can't), that tells me, as an official, that the spectator is not educated.

This was a good, hard fought game. For club ball, this is the norm. Didn’t see any vicious from either side. Sad to see a few parents act like that, however sure they were thinking of player safety (?)

  • @Raider025

So, another match where the parents are questioning the referees (as if that doesn't happen enough as is). Here's what I saw (mileage may vary depending on other officials experience/tolerance of misconduct): @1:05 White's #4 didn't really do anything illegal, and both her and the black player kinda just end up on the turf. No foul, despite how awkward it looks. @1:30 Maybe there's a push from the black player? But the keeper punted the ball away, and I think the contact wasn't too much, so I'm ok with no foul. @1:53 Black #4 was called for a foul challenge. It ain't the hardest of contacts, but calling it to try and keep the match under control is understandable. (sidebar: no, just because the fouls happen to come when a player has fallen over, doesn't mean he's "only calling it if you fall".) @2:54 goal is not allowed due to hitting the (yellow) football crossbar. Under NFHS rules, the football crossbar is considered to be out of bounds, treating a ball hitting it the same as it going over the goal. Ergo, no goal and a goal kick. Ain't the refs fault the parents seem to have missed that. @4:06 I don't care what your reason it, jumping that close to a throw-in is a yellow card offense for failing to respect the required distance at a throw-in. The opposing team is required to yield 2 yards on a throw-in. @4:31 Since the referee wasn't in frame, I can't tell if he played the advantage here or not. I would have called the advantage here. @5:22 Seeing as how the camera was following the disruptive spectator, I can't tell if the referee issued a card on this challenge. Judging by the reaction of another of the spectators going "there's a card", I can safely assume the tackle earned white 16 a yellow. Certainly looks rough, but I am alright with a yellow here. Also, that spectator would be ejected in any of my matches. Game stops, I call the game admins, and have them tell him to leave. @6:39 No play here, but I do like the sentiment of the parent. "If a player is telling you to shut up..." Yeah, the amount of times I have heard players be embarrassed at their parents in any of the matches I officiate. @7:51 Since both players went up for a ball, no foul. The keeper seems to lean a bit, but I have a hard time convincing myself that is a foul. @8:24 Black #25's initial contact is legal, as it is shoulder to shoulder and not using any extra force than is necessary. White #15's follow up contact is deemed to be a foul, and I can see why. The contact is made to the back of the opponent. Also, there was an extension of the arms as well, so either bits of contact could be the foul that was called. Simple foul though, no cards (much to the dismay of the spectators). @8:48 I despise when people say things like this at a soccer match. Why oh why would you encourage the players to commit fouls... @8:49 ... cause then these things happen. No, this wasn't a huge foul, but you can imagine a harder collision. As for the foul itself, simple foul for pushing. @9:26 Foul called here for pushing an opponent. Looks like a simple foul was called here. I would have warned the player (mind you, it is white #16 who is presumably sitting on a yellow from the incident earlier) that she is pushing it, but alas a foul was called, and I have no major complaints. @10:46 Possibly an obstruction, but that's me nitpicking on this play, so no issues continuing play. @10:59 No fouls in this sequence. Contact, sure, but nothing really warranting a foul, since both players are being aggressive. Overall, the parents presented more of an issue in this match as opposed to the players, who probably acted more aggressively due to the parents egging them on.

I agree with everyone in the comments. These parents are asking for red cards when its just a foul. etc. but #16 should of at least gotten a yellow. Shes a great player on the ball but from what i've seen so far shes already fould about 3 times. That warrants a yellow to me.

Interesting that the 4th goal stood for St. Joseph Academy. When looking at the throw-in, the girl had almost her entire foot in bounds when she made the throw which should have been flagged for an illegal throw. It was inconsequential, just interesting it was missed since it was pretty obvious from your worse angle from the camera yards away.

  • @Raider025

The biggest issue comes down to the rule. The rules state that as long as part of the foot is on the line, it is legal. Plus, there are bigger points of interest on the pitch for the official at the taking of a throw-in.
