As a geordie living abroad I loved this video, it brought back so many good memories of pre and post match drinks with family and friends. Tilley's and The Bodega were my Dad's favourite haunts but when I went to match days with my mates we tended to drink around The Gate. There's a bar for every age, tatse and preference in Newcastle! I miss it so much. This video has convinced me to visit home sometime this season for a match day.

Brilliant Eddie, a proper nostalgic look for us ex pats. I used to go to the Newcastle Arms and Rosie’s. I remember standing in Rosie’s on the day Keegan came back to manage and seeing the queues build up on the open end of the Gallowgate at 1 o’clock!! Sold out by 2 o’clock. Nowadays I tend to head for either Shearers or the Terrace as I only get a couple of times a year due to living abroad. Take care mate and keep them coming

I live in Dublin now and it's a great city but I tell all my Irish friends that nowhere in world football compares to the Toon on a match day. It's pure carnival and I miss it so much.

I loved being a student there in the early 90s and have been back a few times. Most recently I spent a day there in June with a mate who'd never visited. We visited several of those pubs and had a great time.

Loved living in the Toon in the 1980's and had a season ticket in the Ardiles and Jim Smith eras. Frequented the Tyneside Irish Centre. Fabulous place. I couldn't do pre match drinking nowadays though (unless I was happy to miss large chunks of the action). I love to get back to the Toon so have kept note of all the bars - what a pub crawl that would be, you'd need a week! Use them or lose them though I'd say - there's a terrible attrition rate in that trade these days.

We always head into the Marlborough Club, a typical working men’s club in the middle of town, rammed full of mags, they even have black and white striped wallpaper too. When I had my business at 65 Westgate Road, The Star was our local and we spent many a happy hour or three in there after work. Back then in the late 90's early 00's we would finish work, pop into the Star for a couple then head to SJP and watch the Lads hammer Barca, Dynamo Kiev and Barnsley!!🤣🤣🤣 Lovely days!!

Sheffield United's Bramall Lane is probably the nearest competitor to St James. It's next to the city centre, so there are 50 to 100 pubs within a quarter to half a mile. Also Sheffield is the real ale capital of England, having the biggest choice of beers with many micro breweries operating in and around Sheffield.

Well, I’m going to challenge you on that one bud, and not in a way to come across as a bit funny. I was at Bramall Lane recently and did two videos. I went into two of your Home Only pubs in my Newcastle top but also had a good wander around the area as I was shooting. I’d be very surprised if there was more than 20 pubs around Bramall Lane and only because it’s a little bit outside of the city centre. So, in the interests of friendly research, could you count them within a 1/2 mile radius and see what the actual figure is and let me know? 👍🏻

bars should be able to show the 3pm games, blows my mind that if i move back to England i wont be able to watch all the matches

The DJ was superb the dancers, the away fans the piss take especially Middlesborough and the Gary Glitter song lol , the yard of ale, curry hell cheap for a bottle or a pint it was tremendous. Three Bulls Head, the Labour club, both amazing bars after the match too aitkenside trader in the quayside. Great videos Eddie 👍🏻

God, I. Miss the Magpie. Started going In there 78/79 season. Was 16 but got away with it.

Madrid tastes nice but dehydrates me as bad as brown ale, wake up in the middle of the night with a splitting head ache, had to stop drinking both in any quantity.
