ST IVES at SUPER HIGH TIDE with STORM surge

Many St Ives businesses were flooded this morning as the storm surge from Storm Pierrick met a spring tide of 7.1 metres.
Andrew was up early to capture imagery of the impact of these two events happening at the same time.

It is amazing the way you have recorded the sound of each individual wave, pounding against the seawall and trickling back, without everything getting blatted out by the sound of wind hitting your microphone. I found the effect to be soothing, which is silly of me, considering how dangerous that situation could actually be.

Wow!! Brilliant footage - you are really dedicated to bring us this interesting video - Another, this seems a silly statement, it seemed as though the elements was playing tricks on ‘Dear old St Ives’ it was such a gentle flooding - super to look at but lethal to businesses on the front. - I do wonder how much more rain and storms we are still to get before Winter is done with us here in Cornwall - I think this makes about 8 months of seeing rain at some point every day - 10/10 for bringing us another super video at this ungodly hour of before 6.00am this morning when most of us are tucked up in bed.

That's amazing footage Andrew. What a treat ~ thank you! I had no idea that the sea level ever reached those lower roadways/pedetrian routes at St Ives, but I now notice some of the shops have sliding storm/flood shutters protecting the lower part of their doors. I love the contrast of the powerful stormy sea with the brave little Turnstone in the foreground (at 3.52) that's busily darting & pecking around in the run-off water for any tiny morsels thrown up by the waves :)

Brave Andrew!! Great footage, which I enjoyed, though I hope the folks there don't suffer too much damage. This has been a year for crazy weather all around. California has had more rain than I can remember since the early 1980s. Storm surges paired with high tides here as well, leading to flooding all along our coastline, up into Oregon and Washington State. Yesterday the solar eclipse crossed the country from Texas to Maine; we saw about 70 percent coverage of the sun from here in So.Cal. I always feel such an affinity for your Cornish coast, though I do find myself expecting to see gents in long coats and tricorn hats from time to time, lol. Stay safe, and I hope your home is on higher ground. :)
