In 2023, Birr 20|20 Vision with the Irish Heritage School successfully secured funding from the Explore Your Monument Programme, run by Offaly County Council, to fund a workshop exploring the historical significance of St Brendan's medieval church and the earlier underlying monastery. The workshop was to be youth-focused, so transition year students from St Brendan's Community School were invited to learn archaeological survey skills before telling the story of St Brendan's in their own inimitable style. This story was researched, devised, scripted, acted out, and narrated entirely by the students themselves.
