    Hi, I had the same complaint about the shifter and discovered why it was so hard to shift. If you open the hood and look where the black cable comes from the shifter. Mine was bent almost 90 %. I did two things. I relieved the fiberglass on the lower left bottom with my Dremel tool with a sanding drum attached. This is where it was causing the cable to bind at the metal part on the upper right. After that, I pulled up the cable to help make the connection a curve instead of a 90% bend at the top right where the metal is. It really freed up the cable and now it shifts smoothly.

    Your review convinced us to purchase one. We like it, although it is louder than we expected. The steering is a little squirrelly and the turning radius is extremely wide. Nice little machine though. A good value when compared to the Kawasaki Mule.

    I was surprised by how loud it was too, and installed a Kolpin Stealth silencer to try to get it a little quieter. It helped outside the vehicle, but it's still loud in the passenger compartment. A lot of sound comes from the engine itself, not out of the tailpipe. The engine has a lot of horsepower for a single cylinder, and is just going to be loud and rough because of it, I guess. The Mule is definitely not as loud and smoother, but it only has about 14HP, where the Bison has 22.8.

    Good review. I bought the same machine a couple of months ago. You can disable the beeping (reverse etc.) by unplugging the beeper under the hood. It was very easy to do. I have the same difficulty getting it to shift into Park.

    I purchased a red one 2 weeks ago, we use it to go to our favorite fishing spot about 5 miles from the house. I was surprised how hot the bed gets, of course there is a muffler right below it. My dealer told me i should put premium gas in it, although they filled it up with regular unleaded when i picked it up. I have 14 hours on mine, and the 50 hour break in period seems a long way off.

    I was just looking at this UTV for my wife. It seems like a pretty decent machine. As for the getting it into park I think that may be a atv/utv thing... my Yamaha grizzly 660 has to be rocked back and forth to get it to go in park... maybe newer machines are better. I just never use park on mine. Not sure if that works on the Bison though.

    I generally leave it in Low gear, instead of fiddling with Park. It's not really an issue. You will, however, want to let her at least hear it run first... the Bison 400U is pretty loud. ✌️

    My mom is wanting one of these, I like them but the only thing that worries me is reliability, never had too much luck with Chinese made engines, I’d much rather get a Honda 4 wheeler cuz I know they don’t break, but these things are pretty cool and a nice bargain for the price. How are they on reliability and long term use?

    Yes, we did install a winch on ours. It's a Champion 2000 lb kit. I couldn't figure out how to hook it up to the existing dash switch (it was the middle of a blizzard during installation) so I just used the wiring and switch kit that came with the winch. (If I do get the winch wired to the UTV switch, I'll be sure to make a video about it.) It works great though, and you can see it in action in my fence stretching video... kzread.info/dash/bejne/Zo2CmI-SZ5Xfl8o.html

They ordered the parts and after waiting 2 weeks, I went and picked it up and will just drive it until the parts come in. At least I get to use it, even if it does run rough at low speeds!

    We were really torn between getting a Mule or a Bison... It came down to a matter of availability in our area.

  • @jamesrevell6475

    @jamesrevell6475

    I originally wanted a Mule but started to look at the Bison and others to save some money. After looking at a lot of reviews, I think I'm going to stick with the Mule. In my time shopping I have uncovered so much deception in this market. From the manufacturers to the dealerships, I can't get a straight answer from anybody. Most of the customers are either in complete denial or willfully ignorant. The Bisson, Mossimo, Hisun, T Boss, BigHorn, SSR and countless other brands are all the same manufacturer with a different logo slapped on the grill. I think they change the name once the secret gets out that they are significantly inferior to the name brands and just re-start under a new name. A simple comparison of all the models and a review of the specs proves this point yet nobody wants to admit it. I know for sure one of the popular websites that sales these UTVs gave my computer a nasty virus. I spoke with a dealership and the price he quoted me over the phone was $2,000 hire than his website. Most places will list them at about $6,999 but he qouted me $8,999. I'm assuming his price was the total cost after miscellaneous fees. For $9,000 I can get a fully loaded Mule, with a warranty, dealership and repairs in my hometown and a reputation for quality. I'm not gonna take a chance on this. This was an excellent review and I hope she is happy with the UTV. I'm sure it will serve her well. The problem and features she showed in this video made the final decision for me. Perhaps if the price was much cheaper like in the $4,000 - $5,000 range I would do it. I'm on a budget and I can only justify a large purchases like a UTV with the expectation that it will last a lifetime if I take care of it. I'm not so sure I want to take a chance with this brand. Thank you for the detailed review.

    When I bought mine, Mules weren't available anywhere, without putting your name on a LONG waiting list. I also bought before SSR raised their prices, so I got it for a few thousand less than a Mule. Now prices are a lot closer between the two, and availability is getting better, so I'd probably go with the Mule as well. I still love my Bison though...at least until something breaks!
