SSL637 ~ First SEA TRIAL of our new BETA MARINE DIESEL ENGINE!
Ойын-сауық
Thanks again for all your support in achieving this goal of replacing our engine with a brand new 85Hp Turbo Diesel engine from BETA MARINE USA!
The first sea trials went perfectly today, no problems found, and smooth as silk so we spent a couple hours chilling in the beautiful turquoise waters of Haynes Cay here in San Andres, Colombia, before returning to anchor for the first time in over a month!
Thanks again also to Lewmar for helping with our anchor winch replacement, first tests today were wildly successful! (after we remembered to turn the power switch back on!) Lol
Cheers!

And from what Rick is showing us with the weather it may be more than they bargained for if they stay on for the storm ?
“You switched the witch off“ “I dont switch off nothing”. I love it. My partner and I have these same discussions, but only on land and definitely not about the windlass.
Loving the new engine. Really loving the fact the control board doesn’t make that high pitched whining noise when you start the engine. Like fingernails on a chalkboard. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I absolutely LOVE that engine. Its the biggest Beta I've seen installed ! And the TEAM that put her in was as slick as I've seen, just no goof ups, and very attentive. Excellent team ! You've put San Andres solidly in my heart forever. I absolutely love that place. Someday I'll go there ?

Captain Rick, you do know that the Kabota dealers can fill the need for some of the beta parts esp. filters and belts. Could be easier to find in some of the out of the way places you may go. Be safe keep her so.

So you ran "the mile" on sea trials. Very nice. Grats my man. I remember the huts on the sand bar. Been there what... 3 years ago? Got ripped off on the very right hand one (as seen from anchorage.) Successful heart transplant 👍 Cheers 🍻. Stay salty ⚓
Capt. Ron, The visible vibration looking at the engine from the front (pulley side) may very well be normal. I personally do not have ANY experience with BETA 85HP. If you were to send a video clip of the engine running at 1500, 2000 and 2500 RPM to BETA MARINE and get their opinion if it looks OK to them would be a good peace of mind, and good to know. I am sure they have seen that particular model run hundreds of times during their own installations. It would also help to do a video UNDER LOAD and in NEUTRAL and see what they have to say. I am not saying there is anything wrong because I have no personal experience with that particular engine but I have plenty of experience (good and bad) LOL with others. It sounds wonderful.. Sail in good health.
how long does it take to break in new motor?? you guys deserve the new engine , congrats!!!!

No computers, and ease of repairing in remote locations without having to fly in a licensed service tech for computerized models that shut down any time a sensor is triggered.. Not having that BS on my engine! :)

Do you mean test and break in ?
Not to throw any shade on you guys as I enjoy your channel immensely. But the engine is too high up on Anti Vibration Mounting pillars studs this will add to vibration and shorten mount life. Easy fix just shim under AVM’s. Great motor you will enjoy for years.

Why is there so many people on the boat for a shake down. Why is the sail up. There should have been Rick and the mechanics from the start to the shake down. Ever heard of AirBnB. Clown show!

It was a celebration cruise with some of our good friends, and you always keep the sail up in case the motor goes out, so you have a backup means to propel the boat to a safe spot to drop the anchor.
