I used to do this with the SSL buss compressor (Waves) using the multiband function of BlueCats, it was a mixing secret of mine. SSL was smart to create this plugin.

Nice seeing Marc Daniel Nelson here! Adding a 4th band would be great though.

I really like the sound going through this SSL G3. Multiband compression can be a great tool, if done right. I’d say this one has got it right. Added to my wish list.

Wow, parallel, multi-band G-bus compression. This is a thing of beauty, great tutorial as well! This is going to work very well before the final limiter in a master chain on a 2-bus, to get the vibe, transparency etc right while the end limiter(s) does its thing. Very, very cool.

This is awsome! SSL - it would be really great if you could integrate this with the master compressor section of the UC1. Controlling one band at a time and making it switchable would be a great workflow I think. Thanks for making great products!

One more comment: would be helpful if switching off the compressor while being in solo mode would not mute the signal entirely but play the unprocessed signal for this band. So it would be easy to compare what the compressor is doing in the single band.

Love this plugin, just got it two days ago. Not only do I use this for compression and drive I also use it to hear the Top End for automating the high end back into the chorus for more energy 🙌🏾

I have the superb Softube Drawmer 1973 multi-band compressor but I have also just bought the SSL UC-1 and UF-1 so I'm hoping they will find a way to integrate this new G3 into the 360 software... that would be fantastic! 😎

I've been using the Lindell 354E on my mix bus for the longest time; this might replace it. The one feature that the 354 has that I really like is the ability to set each of the 3 bands to either stereo, mid or side. Thanks!

"Bloom" on the low end for that first example was quite apparent. The rock eg was great as well and I love that I could clearly hear what you're referring to. With some videos of yours I get a little bummed that my ears just don't hear the little details like yours 😊 Nice job SSL. This sounds like a real winner.

I like humble presenters - people who will happily share with you what they have - people without guise. SSL are an amazing company - I wish I could literally own every single thing they sell. They have every reason to be proud of their achievements. From where I sit it would only be something like lack of humility which would have the potential to trip them up. But then I see a guy like this presenting and I say to myself "if they rely on people like this - if they dance around people who are not like this - nothing will hold them back". In the months to come I presume that SSL will allow Harrison MixBus DAW to continue and develop in some form. That's going to be wonderful - but it's going to be a challenge too. It won't be the most full featured DAW in the world presumably for a while - and yet it will provide unique benefit immediately - as it has been doing so. When certain companies that come to mind don't have a product which is the very best in every category they withdraw. I hope SSL won't take that approach. We all know in what circumstanceds it will be acquiring the MixBus product - we'd rather that SSL trust its customers to understand. It's goint to be a challenging thing to serve customers in that area. People with massively varying competence (I'm at the lower end of the group!) - people with LOTS of questions - answering them all patiently and passionately will surely be a REALLY challenging thing for a company who is leading the world because it has little tolerance for what is stupid - second rate. I really hope it rises to that challenge - as if it does - can anything stop them?

Fantastic….but! SSL G3. That’s perfect. MultiBusComp. Not so much. SSL G3 Multi-BAND Compressor, which is what it is, would be far less confusing. Multi-BUS Compression is already a thing. A different thing than Multi-BAND Compression. Ask Michael Brauer, a guy SSL used to listen to and did quite a bit of Multi-BUS compression on SSL Consoles. He’d tell you that much of what we call “Brauerizing” already existed as Multi-Bussing, which itself is a natural extension of Parallel-Processing, usually Compression and Saturation, and was almost synonymous with SSL Consoles. Furthermore, using This G3 Multi-BAND Compressor, as an upgrade to my standard G-Bus Compressor, in my Multi-BUS template, is likely the first thing I’ll try. (Especially now) And that begs the obvious question: Side by side, the SSL Bus Compressor and new G3 Multi-BAND Compressor, with the three bands linked into one-band, how do they compare? Is there any reason not to replace Every OG Bus Comp with the new G3 in single band mode, then expand to taste? And…. I just fell in love with the 8 Bus Compressors that talk to SSL360, will these have that communication? If not now, is there a plan to expand that ecosystem? Bonus: While I don’t love the “cutsie” MultiBusComp naming the marketing dept surely came up with. That same department chose Not to brand the Saturation on this thing with the 4K logo, that’s on the interfaces. Isn’t this also Multi-BAND SSL 4K Saturation? I’m as excited about that as the Multi-BAND Compression, as far as having an effect on my Sound! Why bury That? Love you guys! You’ve been on Fire the past few years, SSL is quickly becoming the Apple of home studio recording.
